I don't think Austria is that big a gimmick, the beard is but I think they actually do identify as female so I guess their point is that something external like a beard doesn't change that..

Absolutely amazing top 2. Both were my favourites with Molly.
Couldn' be happier, bittersweet though, Molly flopping was devastating and gives the worst member on the forum by a country ****ing mile the right to gloat and nobody has time for that.

Oh and Conchita had easily the best vocals of the night, I expected better than for people on hear to play the 'only won because she has a beard lol ****ing ******' I had enough on twitter, grow up ffs.

10-05-2014, 10:39 PM
Absolutely gutted for Molly, but I honestly think Austria had the best song, so I;m glad Conchita won.
Feel like I've wasted my whole time hyping Molly up for nothing. Definitely think the last place draw ruined her chances.
I hope the BBC don't go back to sending old hags to Eurovision again, they need to stick with BBC introducing til they find their winner. She still did better than Bonnie and Englebert.

Agree with this...
I also think the song was better than the performer :/ Molly wasn't really a great presence, and her vocals were a bit quiet/scratchy too.
Amy Jade

Type Of Material/ Musical instrument xo..
Oh and yeah, they need to stick with the Molly format, maybe give us the chance to vote again with a load of up and coming talent I don't know. Really sad for her.

Or people are entitled to their opinion that they won on the basis of a novelty act rather than vocals/song. Your childish rant tells me you need to grow up.

10-05-2014, 10:43 PM
Good winner, i´m satisfied. Great song and vocals, still not keen about the beard, but whatever... A worthy winner all in all.
Good job for Finland also, 11th place and 72 points. Not bad.
As for the UK, my sincere condolences. I feel your pain.
I just don't think Mollie was all that good, for me Blue were genuinely much better with their song a couple of years ago and thats why they came 11th, it always seemed like the sort of song more likely to appeal
Vicky.
10-05-2014, 10:45 PM
And Ruth easily had the best vocals tonight.

gutted for molly, that was the worst i've seen her perform that. Maybe looking back 26th wasn't a good place to perform! :(
Austria though! I'm so happy that europe have taken so well to a drag queen, there's still haters and idiots out there but it's a great step forward for the LGBT community
Amy Jade
10-05-2014, 10:46 PM

10-05-2014, 10:49 PM

No reason as to why we can't. So many artists we could send that would actually give us a chance. :joker:
Marsh.
10-05-2014, 10:52 PM
Is Adele as popular across Europe as she is in US/UK?
I suppose they'd all see it as career suicide though.
Vicky.

No reason as to why we can't. So many artists we could send that would actually give us a chance. :joker:
Why don't we send decent people then :umm2:
Unless they wont do it
I assumed there was some kind of rule where 'current' artists werent allowed or something and thats why we always seem to send hasbeens or total nobodies
Scooch were good fun, quite like Daz Sampson as well. At least they were consciously quite piss taking entrants compared to seeing ageing stars like the Hump and Bonnie which was just quite sad

I don't mean to be funny, but why are people shocked that europe is so accepting of a drag queen..given that (at least in this country..sure its the same elsewhere) the majorty of viewers are actually gay and its pretty much always been known as the campest show about? :S

I don't think people are shocked. More mocking the novelty.
And the fake sincerity is what I didn't like. The crying, "acceptance" etc. As you say Eurovision is gay friendly anyway.

I feel the same, Dana International won so we already knew Europe were pretty open to the transgender community.

I actually applaud the fact that this year 2 countries like Austria and Ntehrlands took the top 2 places.
I actually liked Austria's song and the performance was really good too,I was over the moon at the Netherlands doing so well too.
Really good show in my view and a pretty high standard too for Eurovision.
Vicky.
10-05-2014, 10:59 PM
Vicky you haven't seen eastern Europe have you?
Did russia give points to austria? :suspect: I dont remember
Cascada sort of peaked about 5/10 years ago though, her latest big hit was probably Evacuate the Dancefloor and even that was about 4 years ago at the time and seemed like their biggest song in years since Everytime We Touch and Miracle
Or am I forgetting stuff :suspect:

Is Adele as popular across Europe as she is in US/UK?
I suppose they'd all see it as career suicide though.
Yup. 21 got to number one in 17 countries that would be eligible for Eurovision.

they were in the charts in Germany, Austria, France and Switzerland the year before they entered, so idk
and I can't tell who voted Austria yet because the wikipedia page has messed up

TiBB should form a band and enter.

This the song we enter with. We'd easily win. Add some dancing, bumping and grinding and a bit of daggering.

Also, I wonder what the voting would have gone like if it was just the votes counting. If the jury were the ones who ****ed us up in georgia :fist:

It's weird, she slayed her jury performance, I thought they'd have just gone wet for her. Disappointed indeed. Although my top 2 outside of the UK were the top 2 so I can't complain that much.
I love how none of the Russians gave a **** about the boos throughout the show, the girls didn't care and the host didn't either so by the second half of the voting when Russia were getting points the boos died out completely, and they still finished in a respectable position

I'm just surprised Russia aren't automatically in it given their stature... guess they don't contribute enough :idc:
But no every year we have this "political voting" row and we act as if we don't always benefit from automatic Irish and Maltese points.

You can view the votes broken down bit by bit here:
http://www.eurovision.tv/page/results?event=1893&voter=AL
If you hover over the juror icon, you can see which juror voted for those points, etc.

in the semi final, all the UK jurors placed Poland 15th out of 15 (except Carrie who placed them 14th) but they still got 4 points from us because the topped the televoting
Lihtuania got 10 points from us, WTF.
Carrie Grant needs to be a jury member every year. She's the only one who got most of them spot on.
