Yeah but the difference is that Carroll would have never accepted being 3rd choice striker at Liverpool but Lambert is quite happy to be playing for the club he supports and loves. Yeah Lambert is 32 but 4m is a bargain I think.

Liverpool FC have announced the signing of Germany Under-21 midfielder Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen.

The club announced a deal had been agreed "in principle" for the player this morning. The midfielder will join the club on July 1st after Liverpool met the buy-out clause in his contract, believed to be around £9.75m.

Bayern Munich had a buy-back option in the Turkish-born player's contract for around £4.5m but it did not affect any potential deals from clubs outside Germany.

Michael Schade, the Bayer Leverkusen chief executive, confirmed yesterday that the Reds had made a bid.

He said: “Until Tuesday, it (Liverpool’s bid) was a rumour.

“Now I can confirm that an official offer from Liverpool has been received by mail."

He added today: “Emre Can has developed very quickly at Bayer 04 Leverkusen over the past twelve months. We wanted to keep Emre at Leverkusen but the release clause is part of his contract. So we wish him all the best and lots of success in his time in the Premier League."

Cesc is still capable playing in a CM role, Ozil often plays down the right or left side and hardly gets many games down the middle. With the amount of injuries we get throughout the season its a no brainer. There is so much room to fit both Cesc and Ozil into a starting 11.

Being handed one of the best midfielders in the world who wants to join with first priority to sign him & is also a fan favourite and declining.. it's ridiculous.
