View Full Version : The Walking Dead Season 5 - Back 9th Feb.
http://i.imgur.com/kja4xcQ.jpg
The Walking Dead is to return to UK screens for its fifth season on 13th October at 10pm, Fox has confirmed.
The Walking Dead’s lead actor Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, previously promised a 'brutal' season’.
Spoiler tags here just in case someone hasnt caught up yet...
Season Four ended with Rick and the group outgunned, outnumbered, and trapped in a train car awaiting a grim fate.
Season Five picks up shortly thereafter.
What follows is a story that weaves the true motives of the people of Terminus with the hopeful prospect of a cure in Washington, D.C., the fate of the group's lost comrades, as well as new locales, new conflicts, and new obstacles in keeping the group together and staying alive.
Stories will break apart and intersect. The characters will find love and hate. Peace and conflict. Contentment and terror. And, in the quest to find a permanent, safe place to call home, one question will haunt them...
After all they've seen, all they've done, all they've sacrificed, lost, and held onto no matter what the cost...
Who do they become?
Time for the new thread :amazed:

Just taking the easy route and dragging everything out because the show is popular. The storyline hasn't really made any progress at all since Rick first met up with the group in the first season, they've pretty much always been in the same situation they were in at the end of season 1 at the end of every following season, and when it looks like they have some kind of direction to take it in they always find a way to get out of it.
I bet they either drag out the travelling to Washington into next season or they will get there and nothing will happen, and they'll be in the same situation they've been in for the past 4 years of the show.. Stranded in some new place with no plan.
It's 5 seasons in now they really should be planning for an end.

They need to shake things up though because it is slightly repetative as Locke described.
To survive: Carol / Daryl / Beth / Carl
I feel no loyalty to any of the other characters right now. I personally think a Glenn death has been a long time coming and needs to happen this season. I was kinda hoping he would die just as Maggie found him in a really intense, emotional scene which would have even made me shout "NO!" but now again its just boring.

Mine's: Season 3, Season 1, Season 2, Season 4
I'd say the novelty was wearing off for me in Season 4, my interest has re-ignited so I might have to give season 4 a re-watch this weekend. I might love season 3 so much because my interest was at it's peak there, and Season 2 had a great second half and has my favourite season finale ever - Walking Dead at it's best.
I loved Season 4 the first few eps where good to get back on track the final story of the governor was good as well and the end episode of Part 1
I liked how they placed it all together in Part 2 too and how they focused on the characters in each ep, S3 was also good since they where all over the place and meeting new people for once
S2 just felt boring to me and only had like 4 Good eps and they where the first two and the last two
S1 was amazing for a first season

I liked S2's stories though, Sophia's death is an amazing plot direction for Carol which is still affecting her in S4, and I'm also very excited for the direction Carol is going in, especially now she's the only original remaining female...she's been kept for a reason.
I may leave it about 4/5 episodes before watching.. cba with the slow storylines and cliff hangers

Only ones that I really want to get killed off are Rick, Carl, and Carol (although I've started to like her a little bit recently). Most of my favorites have already died. :bawling:
Anyone think that eventually Rick will die for his son or maybe the other way around? I honestly doubt either one of them will ever die on this show but I guess it's possible in that way.

The writing in this show has become really lazy and complacent and ultimately infuriating. If you're going to spend most of the season building up to something then you need some sort of payoff, you can't just delay it until the next season. S3 was pretty much an anti climactic build up to a disappointing finale and they dragged the Governer story for as long as possible and they did the same in S4 too because they have to fill up 16 episodes a season when this series should have no more than 10 episodes a season at most.
Less is more.

The Gov story ended perfectly, he went out in style and died a hero
The problem was that it should have happened in Season 3. The Season 3 finale was probably one of the worst finales I've ever seen because it hinged on people liking Andrea when the writers had done everything in their power to make her as unlikable as possible. They should have cut some of the many filler episodes in the last half of S3 and used them to finish of the Governer story where it needed to finish instead of needlessly dragging it into S4.
That way they could have devoted more time to Terminus so that S4's finale was less of a slap in the face.

Agreed. Season was so underwhelming at the end, which is a shame as it started great. Trying to make Andrea into a dying hero when 95% of viewers wanted the Governornto kill Her probably

This season certainly doesn't waste any time getting into the action! Look for a very bloody first episode that offers some quick answers about the people of Terminus. Remember when executive producer Robert Kirkman told us that Terminus leader Gareth was not the season's major villain? That doesn't mean he isn't sufficiently creepy!

The after credits scene >> the rest of the episode.
Didn't think the episode itself was THAT good to be honest, but at least they're on the move again now and won't be spending a load of time at Terminus.
Think they've always been pretty realistic when it comes to killing characters off as well, but am not having it that every single one of them made it out of a place owned by cannibals that also got invested with a load of zombies. Should have killed at least one of them off.
Amazing Episode
Loved all of it, Carol is getting better each season she was fantastic tonight, her killing that bitch by shooting her and letting the zombies eat her :worship:

Carol:love:
I got why Tyrese only killed the guy after he threatened the baby, but it seemed too much like he lost control and didn't actually mean to kill him. It made him seem vulnerable in a way that I didn't like. He's always been a sympathetic character, but I just felt bad for him this time, not impressed by his restraint.
Amazing episode overall though and I really liked the comparison of the Terminus people (Chris Hardwick called them Termites?) and the group being at different stages of corruption from being in the apocalypse.

Something I didn't notice when I was watching was the first guy that got his throat cut is the guy from last season that Rick and Carol met at the house (just before Rick banished her) who had a girlfriend, they told them they'd meet up with them later and take them back to the prison and they ended up finding the girlfriend half eaten.. Brilliant episode, one of the best season premieres i've seen
Some of the scenes and the explosion were epic, Carol & Rick were great. Carol being reunited with Daryl almost bought a tear to the eye.
Pretty crazy how every single one of them made it out alive, Not totally unrealistic considering they've spent the past god knows how long getting out of situations like this and know the right ways to escape from people/zombies. Such a boss scene towards the end with every single one of them walking along together for the first time. The group is pretty perfect now, messed up and untrustworthy but perfect.
Pretty excited to see them on the move again now, as someone who loved S2 when they set up camp at the farm house i'm hoping they find another decent location to hold down.

I hope they don't stay some where, I'd rather they just travel too DC
Also is Beth on the next ep?
I also don't hate or dislike any of the characters now so it's wayy more easy to watch
I hope they don't stay some where, I'd rather they just travel too DC
Also is Beth on the next ep?
I hope she is, they might do something annoying and save her arc until the second half of the season tho
Depending on whether they reach DC for mid-season finale or season finale is dependent on where Beth shows up really - unless they kept her (it seems that's where she is) there for the whole season like they did Andrea in Woodbury in season 3.

If they save Beth for later in the season I won't be too angry with Carol and Rosita for me to stan.
With such a big group though I'm scared they will kill a fair few off this season.

Thought that was a pretty good loose end to tie up.
Oh I never noticed that, good spot

Nobody should be killed off so early into a season now, they've done it once with Lori in S3 for shock value and that's enough. Nobody should die from the main cast until mid-season at least imo. I agree, its amazing that they're finally utilizing Carol...but whether this means she's near the end of her run remains to be seen, I'd hope not considering she's the last remaining original female character.g

I thought it was decent, They always do a good premiere and then it tends to go tits up after that so I'm keeping my expectations low.
That being said, Carole you stone cold bitch <3. I also liked that I was wrong about Terminus, I thought they'd spend the first half of the season as prisoners but I'm glad they changed it up quickly.

Carol was amazing in the season opener. Her character development has been the best throughout though, when you consider how she was in Season 1.
I never noticed it was Sam either until Locke pointed it out..
I think the season has got off to a good start, and like Dean, I was worried they would spend too many episodes with them locked in a container.
I don't know if the return of Morgan is a good thing or a bad thing.. he was in pretty bad shape last time we saw him..
And how is Michonne supposed to function without her katana?
All in all, I liked it though..
Carol has grown so much I didn't like her till S3 when I though she was meh
She's one of my favs now, her letting that evil bitch die <33

Just watched the episode. I thought it was a fantastic opener. Agree with what has been said about Carol, one of the characters I will actually be sad about if she dies. For me, she's someone who I want to last until the very end. Looks like it will be a good season but I'm not sure what's going to happen next. I'm glad they didn't just stay in the terminus for 8 episodes as I expected.
I think the episode proved just how great a leader Rick is, Managing to cut himself loose and then helping the others escape in one piece, don't get me wrong I do think Comrade Ford would have busted them out of the Cargo tank anyway he seemed to have the situation under control even before Rick got him out but all the same Rick deserves the credit, Carole on the other hand was reckless and could have killed some of the gang with that a rocket trick of hers, She can thank her lucky stars Rick seems to have forgiven her

.... Rick can thank his lucky stars that Carol came to the rescue, cause without causing that explosion Rick and the others would have been butchered.
Glad the producers didn't drag the hell out of Terminus. I prefer seeing the group on the road. Also need to see more of Rosita. Hopefully she has a bigger story line and isn't just an extra waiting to be killed off.

I too would like to know.
Tainted Meat thing-
In the comics, Dale was still with the group at this point and was in a relationship with Andrea (I believe they had children too) and he was bitten by a walker. He kept it a secret from the group, and was then kidnapped by a group of hunters. They tied him up and began eating him alive (cannibals - but they weren't undead) and he laughed at them, explaining that they were eating Tainted Meat (infected meat) - then Andrea had to kill him.
People are thinking the same will happen to Bob as he seems to be attacked by a walker, grow close to Sasha and look distressed at a campfire in the promo.

That episode was waaaaaaay better than the premiere.
It seemed set up to me that Bob had been bitten or scratched or something (the last kiss, watching the church outside, crying etc) so I was expecting him to off himself at the end. I'm guessing now that if he had been the hunters would have found the scratch/bite while they were cutting his leg off, so I'm confused as to what the crying outside the church was actually about?
Great episode though.

It was easy to tell from the start there's something dodgy about this Gabriel guy. There was a lot of unpredictability about the whole episode which is great. I'm enjoying the season so far. Gareth is a great villain. Such a twat lol. I'm kinda pissed the Beth Bottle episode is coming up for episode 4, because I'm enjoying the dynamic at the moment.
At the end of the show when the previewed next weeks show, someone from the group said they have 3 of our people so they may taken 3 or next week maybe they'll take 2 more? Maybe they'll get carol and Daryl while they're off trying to rescue Beth or maybe the group will just think that they've been taken along with Bob cos they disappeared without telling anyone at the same time?
Great episode though, so creepy
Bob is with the hunters and Daryl and Carol chased that avery car and are going to be focused on that part of the story I think..but the group probably assumes they have been kidnapped too.
What will happen to the hunters since they ate bob and he probably got bite

They would turn, I'd imagine, meaning Bob could go out as a hero which I'm ok with.

I bet he hasn't been bit though, they're surely not going to end their story so quick
I don't seen another reason why he would start crying

If he had been and they kill him off straight away I like it. They did the same to Tara (Amber Benson) on Buffy; fans had been campaigning for her to be in the main titles and the episode they added her she was shot and died.

I've seen on other forums that people were saying Bob was crying because he had finally found love in Sasha, beat his alcoholism and found a family.
I'd be disappointed if the story wasn't going in the tainted meat direction. Gareth can go and this seasons big bad can be somebody else.

Yeah I thought that was maybe why he was crying ^ It looked like relief crying almost? That's why the end was so awful :bawling:

My personal take on Bob and Gabriel:
I think Bob was bit, probably on the leg, because why would he say "One Last Kiss" to Sasha before leaving. I also think he was going outside to kill himself before he could turn, but then the Hunters chopped his leg off and started eating "tainted meat", so he will survive until they have eaten all of him like Hershel survived when they cut his leg off.
I think Gabriel's "sins" are that the walkers in that infested area they cleared were people from his camp, but he locked them out of his church and kept all the supplies inside for himself, which would explain the scratches that Carl saw of people trying to get in, and the picture Gabriel had of that woman (who was a walker). The one reason Gabriel never went to that area for supplies wasn't because it was infested, but because he knew they would've gone in that direction to flee for safety and he didn't want to see 'what sins he had done' by locking them out and making them flee.
That's just my predictions anyway, idk if it'll happen or not.

If Bob has been bitten then I think he will still turn. when Hershel was saved his leg was cut off straight away that's how he was prevented from turning but Bob walked home and ate so he would have waited far too long.
BUT
Typically a zombie virus (in movies) saliva to also contagious so kissing Bob could have exposed Sasha, too?

I don't think he was bit at all

I think he was bit. His crying didn't look like the happy sort at all.
Also It's just way too similar to the comic scene for it not to be. Gareth's speech was almost word for word. I hope he was anyway as it I want to see his "Tainted Meat hahaha!" Mocking of them. I still think they will die due to a head to head clash with the grouo rather than infection .
