I'll take part, I think it would be better if there was less slashers and a wider variety of horror films though tbh.
Added, and I've gotten rid of some of my picks (Cherry Falls, Soriority Row) and replaced them with the requested The Descent and Sinister :)
Also replaced You're Next with The Amityville Horror (another ghost film - sorry to who suggested it)
I'm hoping there's more of a variety now. Some (The Strangers, When A Stranger Calls) are more thriller than slasher. Final Destination 1-3 are more gory, and The Grudge, Sinister, The Amityville Horror are more supernatural.

I've removed FD1 and FD2 because people were only here for 3 and I guess people want to suggest more films and there's no need for us to sit through 3 of them when they're not really horror anyway.
Since hardly anyone was here for Child's Play either should Ii remove this?
I'm gonna add The Conjouring and Dollface's other suggestion as well as Wolf Creek.

Dollface

NO.
BUT THE REMAKE IS BETTER :bawling:
I'm thinking we could implement a chat aspect whilst watching but people may be busy each night so might not be able to make it (idk)?
The rule was just gonna be that you had to watch the film and post a review within 24 hours (when the next film was posted) but a chat aspect could be cool if people are interested enough.
Daniel.

Can we like cement that list?
It has a good variety.
I think we should watch it then write the review and rate it. Then see what films got the highest score at the end?
Yeah I was considering a rating out of 10 aspect and then during the early evening on Halloween doing a rankdown of the films we watched based on all the scores of each film .

Okay since Tom who suggested Blair already has lots of suggestions on the list I'll remove it and replace it with a zombie film but you'll have to decide whether it's gonna be replaced with REC or Dawn of the Dead (original or remake?)

Replace it with dawn and then put REC for the 31st for those that are not out. ;)

lets have a vote ok, say worm if you want dawn of the dead, or say slug if you want REC
I added REC to the 31st if people aren't busy and wish to watch it, and then replaced Blair with Dawn.
Is everyone also okay with the double feature of H1 and H2 on 30th October - they follow each other and for most it'll be the climax of the countdown.

Thursday 1st October - Scream (1996)
Starting us off on the countdown is Scream (1996). Starring Neve Campbell and TiBB favourites Skeet Ulrich and Rose McGowan, Scream follows the sleepy little town of Woodsboro. There's a killer in their midst who's seen a few too many scary movies. Suddenly nobody is safe, as the psychopath stalks victims, taunts them with trivia questions, then rips them to bloody shreds. It could be anybody...
Please PM if you need a link to the film. Please have your reviews submitted for 8PM tomorrow night!

Scream (1996)
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/5127F505WAL.jpg
It needs to be said, Scream is an iconic film; a fresh take on the slasher genre that crossed over into the mainstream. This blend of tongue-in-cheek 4th wall breaking in a horror hasn't been done this successfully before or since, but this film spawned imitations and even a BLOODY PARODY FILM FRANCHISE (Scary Movie) - Y'all better love Brenda btw
The plot of this film is like your ordinary slasher film. Nothing too different. Mysterious murders happen one year after the death of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell's) mother. The masked killer begins to stalk and pick off Sidney and her friends one by one. It culminates in a slasher house party. What sets this film apart from all the other slasher films is the cast. If you're a fan of slashers like I am, you'd probably know the cast in these type of films are low-budget, unknown z-list actors. Well, I think it's safe to say this cast was pretty stellar for a slasher film in 1996. You had Drew Barrymore - who rose to fame after her role in ET, 14 years earlier. Monica (Gale Weathers) yes, I just called her Monica, nuff said. Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Skeet Ulrich, as well Rose McGowan  (not you Scott).
Thoughts on the film:
The cold opening with Drew Barrymore getting a call from ghostface/being murdered is one of the most memorable scenes in film. It’s great. I love how it turns from flirting, to creepy, to psychopathic rage.
Courtney Cox actually playing a bitch when we're so used to her as Monica in Friends <3
The janitor’s wearing an inexplicable Freddy costume. They’re actually the clothes from the movie. Nice cameo, Wes Craven.
A strong gimmick of the film is several characters’ knowledge of films and the horror genre, making analyses and references to many films along the way. It’s great on two levels.
The Killer isn’t physically strong and a bit clumsy (used for comic effect too) like running into an open fridge door and being afraid of thrown beer bottles. It also adds a dynamic of putting the ‘prey’ on an equal footing, apart from the knife, of course.
The last 40 minutes pretty much being a stalk and slash house party is brilliant.
Overall, it's a brilliant film and by far one of my favourite slasher films.
9/10
R.I.P. Wes Craven.

Night one - Scream (1996)
http://images.complex.com/complex/image/upload/t_article_image/x8fwodcbsk8fums4jv4x.jpg
I've watched scream twice before but it must have been a good three/four years since I last saw the original so I was quite hyped for watching this.
The part what always sticks in my head and I'm guessing most other people's is the iconic opening scene with Drew Barrymore. This is possibly my favourite opening to any horror movie what I've seen and it always sticks in my head. The suspense built throughout the whole scene kept me gripped even though I knew what was going to happen so I guess I have to congratulate Craven on creating such a tense and exciting opening ambience for the viewer. It builds up in a matter of moments from being a chatty sort of flirtatious call to one of sinister and I think that's what really makes it brilliant.
What I really like about the film also is that is has quite a jovial tone behind it and there are some really hilarious moments e.g. Tatum's 'Ooooh what's this movie called I spit on your garage?' and Stu at the end 'My parents are going to be so mad at me' but also still has quite a dark feel to it and is still keeping the whole horror theme in tact and doesn't go too silly to the point where it becomes a bit of a joke and unrealistic. Randy's in depth knowledge and passion about horror movies also makes the movie hilarious and is a good way to break the fourth wall without purposely doing so and it making it blatantly obvious.
Sydney by far is my favourite horror movie protagonist. I usually find horror movie protagonists somewhat annoying but I love Sydney because she's so just so smart and is nobody's fool.
The twist at the end also with Billy being the killer is really great because it looks a little too obvious that it is Billy it becomes actually rather shocking when he is the killer as he almost becomes a complete non suspect for me in a way. I like the twist also regarding him being the murderer behind Sydney's mother so it all ties in really well together. Stu also being there for no real reason also adds to the comedy element like he says 'I was peer pressured' and it appears this way for sure :laugh2:
The acting and casting I think also for all the characters were spot on. Rose McGowan is perfect for the role of Tatum a loyal best friend with a sassy and fierce side which gets the better of her (oh and also her death in the cat trap is iconic and one of my favourite horror movie deaths). Courtney Cox as Gale Weathers who at first plays a villainous and antagonistic role but becomes the hero in the end and I really think Courtney played both sides of Gale perfectly. Not too mention Skeet Ulrich who plays an amazing psychopathic villain and even his facial gestures and body language make you genuinely believe that he is psychopathic.
My only very small criticism is that the chase scenes between Sydney and ghost face do become a little repetitive.
Overall - 10/10
A really enjoyable movie with a great twist and plot behind it! Definitely one of the best horror movie franchises
Daniel.

Dollface's review of SCREAM
Slashers aren't really my favourite type of horrors, but Scream is one of the best (if not THE best) slasher film i've ever seen over the years. There's something really fun about the movie.
The opening is especially great, when Drew Barrymore () is being quizzed by the mystery killer on the phone. Straight away there's a creepy vibe, especially if you put yourself in her shoes, being home alone and having some weirdo call you on the phone asking about your favourite scary movie :worry:
All of the actors and actresses are convincing and give great performances. The characters were all interesting - Especially Billy (:flutter:) who despite being a psychopath is totally gorgeous and someone I ended up rooting for.
It's not perfect, it could have been better (creepier :fist:) but since it's a teen movie I wasn't expecting proper scares anyway
The storyline is really intriguing. I love mysteries and Scream is a bloody good mystery the first time you watch it. I was happy with the killer reveal
So overall I think Scream is a really good film and worthy of a ... 8/10

Scream review
The film is a master of creating suspense and tense scenes. The characters are brilliant, especially Sidney.
The whole plot is intriguing and engages the viewer, it really captivates you.
The opening scene is iconic and really emphasises what a serial killer can do, it is also incredibly sad which a lot of slasher movies fail to do.
The killers identity is good, they were chosen wisely and they make great killers, realistic as well.
It can be a little dull in parts but the suspense and drama is never long away.
It would have be interesting to have a female killer but then it's the 90s, Gale is brilliant in the film, a great character.
The length of the film is perfect, it really is an iconic horror film, a true heritage to horror culture.
Jason.

Scream (1996) - Night One
http://movieboozer.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/scream-poster.jpg
Rating - 9/10
This film is one of my favourite slasher movies, The opening scene was great where we saw Casey get murdered which we didn't see the killer stab her fully. I do think they should have been a few more murders because it was like 45 minutes after Casey's murder or less until we saw another murder. When i first saw this I thought it was Billy but also felt Stu was involved because he's Billy's puppet, It was a great idea to make 2 people as killers instead of one. Sydney is an amazing character too! Dewey and Gail are the cutest couple I've ever seen on a movie.. they had that spark and suit each other...

I'm watching Scream 3 tonight. Looking forwards to it, cause despite how inferior it is to the first two films, I do still quite enjoy watching it and it has some enjoyable moments, especially that massive chase scene in the mansion.

Scream
Scream's a beacon of light in the dark drudgery that was the Horror Genre in the 90's. It was a film that made old tropes fresh through satire and was actually very smart which was rare for horrors at the time. It's a well acted and well written film that revitalised the genre. Endlessly fun and it hasn't aged at all.
9/10.

I found it amazing the title before we see the first kill was Casey's mother screaming and then we heard it again when she saw her daughter hanging from a tree

 Neither was "Cindy" (who was Sydney's parody in Scary Movie).

My review of Friday the 13th probably won't be favourable, I always disliked that series and I doubt rewatching it tonight will change my thoughts on it.

Just noticed I made a typo on "Syndey's" name. It's actually Sydney. Pronounced Sid-nee

Welp I have two films to watch for tomorrow unless I do a harrowing watch at 4 in the morning like Armand.
This list is really good tbh! Only ones I'll be missing out are sinister (watched it not that long ago), dawn of the dead and when a stranger calls.

Oddly, I feel the same way for the Halloween series. There's a couple entries I can watch but the rest is trash.
