On FX's youtube if you read the teaser captions in the order they're published it turns into a sentence: "Step by step it's happening, we're everywhere, raising hell, creeping... creeping recovery." It would probably fit with an assimilation theme, like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, or even just cults in general.
Edit: Also just wanted to add my other thoughts. The head stapling teaser seemed like an initiation ritual to me, the hands grabbing out could represent assimilation by trying to grab the girl running away, as well the glowing eyed teaser fits in with assimilation (sort of using a village of the damned representation of a hive mind), and to fit in with a cult theme the baby crib teaser did appear to spell out the word "pig" and perhaps babies are used for sacrifices? I'd assume to whatever Lady Gaga is playing, if she's actually playing an evil fairy, she could be the deity of a cult.

- this season is set in two time zones, with half the cast in the 'Colonial' era & half in the 'Present Day'
- the only character joining the two together is Lady Gaga who is playing the 'Croatoan', who is responsible for the disappearance of the Lost Colony and she will also tie the previous seasons together.

I am thinking this too and to even add to that I think that this season could have multiple story arcs, with the actors playing multiple characters within the season (Like Sarah Paulson playing Sally & Billy-Dean in Hotel) and then at the end of the season all of the story arcs tie together. So there could be a story about a farm, a forest, aliens and a demon baby. This would make sense with what Ryan Murphy said about him wanting to do this for season 1 but FX said it would confuse viewers so they went with Murder House. There can be no theme because there are multiple themes.

You'll see it this season, and then you'll really see it after this season. We lay a lot of pipe, and you'll see it explode in seasons seven and eight. They haven't officially been picked up yet by John Landgraf — he and I always talk at the end of the year and decide how many we want to do. But John has always said, and I have always agreed, that this is a show that could be like The Twilight Zone and run for multiple, multiple seasons and have its own inner mythology. So that's how we're approaching it. I'll keep doing it for as long as we have the ideas and the momentum. I really love doing it.

I don't agree with them not having the opening titles. And I'm not keen on the documentary style, I like all the characters in the story together, not characters playing the same character?

Also, it didn't really feel like American Horror Story, felt like a completely different show.

I don't think every episode will be this documentary. Somewhere along the line there'll be a twist. Where the Lily Rabe character finishes making the documentary and something happens afterwards etc.

As it should IMO. Freak Show and Hotel were very `'samey" tonally, with vibrant OTT characters and zero plot.

An anthology should really experiment and completely reinvent each year. Finally, they're trying it.

I don't remember her in anything else, but yeah her line delivery was awful.
At first, I thought it was intentional as those documentaries tend to have dodgy acting but then I remembered the people talking to the camera were supposed to be the "real" people.

Its ****ING amazing but I'm left in so much confusion at the same time
I can't wait to see what it's all about- I avoided all spoilers and everything
They're being good with the British premiere dates so I'm following them and FOX uk did it so at the end there was an ad it was revealed the title being Roanoke
It's already slaying FreakShow and Hotel premiere wise- the experience was so good and it's more up my street

Good episode, they've managed to make AHS legitimately creepy.

I don't think the ghosts are actually ghosts though. I think they are the byproducts of a curse or some sort of creature that's an amalgam of evil that can take the form of anyone it kills. Either way I think the story's going to get a major shake up in the next few episodes due to how quickly the 'hauntings' have escalated.

The only letter the nurses were missing before they 'disappeared' from the M-U-R-D-E was R, could that possibly be Roanoke? & the nurses somehow link to the disappearance of the Roanoke Colony?

...I enjoyed the story a lot/very creepy and scary but the narration bit, I'm not so sure about only because it takes away from the scary because you obviously know that they're going to be ok...otherwise they couldn't be narrating back...


..with the lost Roanoke people, I was wondering if there would be some kind of twist similar to The Others movie, where Shelby and Matt were ghosts/dead in reality and the Roanoke people were alive and living there...and Matt and Shelby were the 'scary ones' really../the intruders...

Just watched episodes 2 and 3 and I'm into this season now. The first ep didn't really grab me (which was annoying since I'd loved the idea of a Roanoke themed season) but it's gotten really interesting as the story's started playing out. I'm really intrigued to see where it goes and what this big twist will be.

By the way, the voice of the guy talking to Lee (real Lee) was Cheyenne Jackson right? Really sounded like him.
