So before he went in she said "you kind of have a hall pass"?... I think it's clear that regardless of semantics, they aren't in a committed monogamous relationship. Call me cynical but i think he knew Laura would be in there and he agreed with his fiance that he could have a showmance with her to get some notoriety/fame/mag deals but maybe they agreed that he wouldn't go too far with Laura hence why the fiancé will be pissed off if they did have sex.
