It's getting quite watchable now that there's an actual plot beyond 'Sarah Paulson screams and cries for an hour'.

I'm not sure I like Ivy and the convenience store guy being part of the Cult though, I think it made more sense for them both to be pawns rather than full blown members. They could have done more to establish the Camera Guy and Colton Haynes' characters before the reveal that they were in the cult. It took most of the episode to even realise who the camera guy was.

I don't think Meadow is dead or in the process of being killed though, I think that whole scene with Ally was just a setup by Kai for some reason. Meadow's going to turn out to be a hardcore member I think.

Loving Beverly tbh, Adina plays the role of cult leader better than Evan does and I think the whole partnership/power struggle thing they've got going on is pretty interesting although it means she'll probably be killed off soon.

I don't think Cheyenne's character is in the Cult anymore either, there's not going to be much of a conflict between Ally and Kai if it's just her on her own against them all so I think he'll end up being on her side. He's opportunistic but he isn't politically motivated like the other characters that joined the cult are.

It was a good episode apart from the mass shooting scene because

It's so implausible that they could frame Ally for it. Meadow stepped in front of the crowds, in front of the cameras both CCTV and News and fired away, it just pushes suspension of belief too far that they could pass it off as Ally's crime especially since Kai's aiming for it to be national news.

The only way this plot makes sense is if he throws Meadow under the bus in order to get Ally out of trouble to either try to recruit her or drive her even more crazy and even then I think the whole 'twist' was quite clumsy tbh.

Next week's looks terrible though, not here for them wasting Francis on Ryan Murphy's clumsy stereotypical take on feminism.

Oh I think the twist was clumsy too. Like how would she know Ally would go right up to her and try to take the gun and not simply run away?

But now thinking back was the point not to have the blame shifted from Meadow but Meadow just sacrifice herself to get more support for Kai and also national exposure due yo a shooting.

Ally kind of putting herself in the predicament of being suspected as Meadow's ally (Oooh pun) was a happy accident.

But then the Ally stuff is the most confusing part of the season. Why are they putting so much focus on making her question her sanity.

If it was indeed so that she could be framed for a mass shooting then it failed on all counts.

All the Lena scenes seemed like sam bad 60's comedy. Also Andy Warhold died age 58 and Evan like about 30 years younger than that. And I just read wikipedia and Andy Warhol died of a bad gallnladder I'm SCREAMING @ the reach.

It would have been a decent episode if not for Lena Dunham tbh. It was only okay with her inclusion.

The situation of Ally still being implicated in the shooting is silly as is her silence. It's a plot contrivance. I liked Frances' character and the divide in the Cult and I'm LIVING for Beverley :love:

SO glad they killed off Harrison, him and Meadow were terrible characters that only existed to be gifs.

As a whole though it feels like the story has lost it's direction. Last few episodes have built up a story that was missing at the start of the season but this one ultimately felt like filler.

It's starting to get dull again tbh and it's felt kind of directionless since the last episode when the women in the cult became militant feminists after one speech from Frances. Things are happening but there's no real thread to bind it all together.

I dunno, I'm finding it super creepy in parts, which I never really got with other seasons. I don't really know how to rank it, it seems a bit different to the rest of 'em, it seems more thriller-y than or horror-y maybe? Which I'm enjoying.

It has some similarities to Hotel in that it's mostly style over substance, i think. It definitely has Hotel's approach of 'Do we need to fill ten minutes? Throw something overly gory or ****ed up in there in place of a good narrative.'

They should have stuck to what made Roanoke so good, simplicity. They had a good story and good characters and ran with it while offering a new spin on AHS' take on ghosts. Cult's main issue is that it's plot consists of weak allegory and shallow themes as well as hackneyed takes on current issues.

It’s not a well written show! Fact! There’s plenty of shows better than AHS when AHS used to be one of the best!
