I know that, but after this episode i just have to accept that it’s going down hill and the fact that I wish it was finished now and I didn’t have to go through two pointless episodes of fighting between Sarah and Evan shows how much I’m over it

Well that was a dumb pile of ****.

The leaps in logic are becoming too much. Half the story is happening off screen, why tell us that Ally turned into the Terminator in the two weeks she was off screen instead of showing that progression? Kai basically recruiting the Hitler Youth to be his army in the space between the Valerie episode and the one that came before it was dumb too. It's just painfully amateur writing.

I actually like the idea of Ally turning basically turning into Beatrix Kiddo but the way it happened was just piss poor and reeks of plot convenience. The scenes with past cult leader were painful too. Evan Peters is just not that good of an actor.

This series is lacking in good characters and it's gone back to Freakshow/Coven/Hotel's style of plot in that the writers are throwing darts at a board to decide what happens. There's no context to the events that happen, it's just random interaction spliced with scenes of random gore.

That episode had some good elements but it's a little too late tbh.

Francis should have been in it more, in her few scenes as the cult leader she was more convincing at it than Evan was in ten episodes. The fact that his character has just reverted back to being a stereotype is also really annoying, they had something interesting going on with him essentially being an agent of chaos that supported no one or nothing that didn't benefit him but now he's just a Trump fanboy and that's just boring.

Ally vs Kai should have been a storyline that started earlier, Ally's quite a good character now that she's doing something other than screaming but it's so problematic that all her character development happened offscreen.

The Sharon Tate stuff was vile and completely unnecessary and it highlighted the biggest issue with this season, shallow violence for the sake of covering up a weak plot. The use of the Manson murders for nothing more than cheap violence was just vulgar. I almost switched off at that point tbh. It was just so tone deaf.

It honestly feels like they wrote this season as they went along instead of having a solid plot outline, it's annoying since Roanoke seemed to have jettisoned the the ADHD writing of Coven/Freakshow/Hotel but it's come right back like a weed.

The show desperately needs new writers.

I assume she was simply unaware of who Bebe was and saw an opportunity to solidify her position with Kai and make him believe that she couldn't be the mole. I assume if she did know who Bebe was then she would have still killed her since she put the cult in motion.

Ally wants to be the one to destroy the cult. I don't think she would have sat back and let someone else take that away from her.

i think it started going downhill when the original cult members started to die like i just didn’t like or care about kai in any way so maybe that’s why i didn’t like it as much

I'm glad that's over with.

The story of this season makes no real sense, the second half feels completely disconnected to the first and characters like Kai change completely for no reason at all while all the important character development happens off screen.

The political stuff was painful right until the end as well with AHS' takes on feminism and the political climate being painfully inane. I hope they learn they go back to doing what AHS does best next season and follow Roanoke's lead rather than Cult's.

As for the updated order from best to worst

Murder House > Asylum > Roanoke > Coven > Hotel > Freakshow > Cult

Freakshow was boring as **** but at least the characters were consistent and made sense, this series has been a mess of inconsistencies, plot holes and confused motivations.

A girl turning into moths makes more sense than the pile of **** that was Cult though.

Just look at Kai and how much his character didn't make sense. He starts off as a mastermind that wants to spread fear, we learn that this is because he went to a house of horrors with Ivy and was inspired by that experience to embrace fear and then that all gets dropped in order to turn him into a stupid, bumbling misogynist in order to give Sarah Paulson something to do in the finale.

None of the character motivations make sense, all the characters were square plugs squeezed into circular holes to fit the almost non existent plot and Evan Peters was front on center so that Ryan Murphy can indulge in his thirst by putting him in as many pointless sex scenes featuring Evan per episode as possible.

That puts it above Freak Show for me.

I've not spoken to anyone who has enjoyed Freak Show irl. Most people stopped watching it. It just didn't have a plot.. Characters were alright, there was just a lack of storyline rendering it boring.

Cult had some really good episodes, but it had a rubbish end and a slow beginning.
