View Full Version : Daniel ranks the BBUK Golden Era Housemates - BB5, BB6, BB7
Daniel.
04-12-2018, 12:19 PM
So I have been planning on doing this for a while, and thought why not start now while I am rewatching BB5 and the forum is dead.
SO
I will be ranking all 51 golden era housemates from least favourite to favourite, I know most of you already have a good idea who I will have high, but hopefully there will be some surprises along the way.
Everyone will get a short write up, feel free to comment along the way.
Daniel.

51. Richard Newman/
https://i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article7484548.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/Richard-Newman.jpg
I mean this should come as no surprise but let me try and explain why I dislike this hypocritical slime ball so much.
Richard was a terrrribleeeee housemate imo, I know some on here like him so feel free to chime in but yeah for me he was everything I dislike in a housemate - a bully, a turncoat, two faced, hypocritical, unselfaware, borderline series ruining oh and yeah he was boring too. I mean he may objectively be a big character but how big a character can you really be when you spend half the series sat in the lounge with Susie or sucking Pete Bennet's arsehole?
My initial dislike came from the first week, where he mercilessly bullied Shahbaz. I know Sezer often gets the blame for this but in my opinion Richard was the ringleader in arguably the nastiest apout of bullying this show has seen in 18 years. Sending him to Coventry, teasing him with crisps while he was locked outside, it was all so nasty and unpleasant to watch. Of course as a staunch plastics fan I was always going to oppose his hatred but seriously he HATED Imogen for no reason, citing her as dull and boring, Sure I can see why he would think that, but I mean Richard thinks hes interesting because he wears one glove and is apparently butch so yeah check yourself first. He also kept going on about how BITCHY they were, but seriously, while this is true, he was probably the biggest bitch in the house? Everyone saw through it, going from house enmies Sezer and Imogen to close friends Nikki and Lea, everyone got tired of this man's constant spouting of bull****.
My main dislike though comes from the second to last week, think back to week 4 when he HATED Grace for throwing water on Susie, yet as soon as he saw her he was all "GRACE IS FIERCE, MWAHAHA" like fuuuck shut UP you nauseating human, oh and then spent the last week up Nikki and Pete's arse because he knew they were popular whilst helping isolate Aisleyne so it was SWEET when Aisleyne beat him.
So yeah, I cant stand Richard and for me he is the worst housemate of the three golden era series, but still he's not among the worst ever ever and there were some good things about him, but as a housemate, I couldnt bare watching him.
Epic.

Excited for this :clap1: I just hope you can be slower at posting these since even though I knew Richard would be last for you, the rest are worth the rewatch of these series you're doing.

I could've HATED Richard and pretty much agree with most of what you've said but there were a few small moments to make me dislike many other housemates. Taking the piss out of Spiral all the time<3. The Lisa impersonation.<3. Losing to Aisleyne and trembling worrying he'd be booed while holding in the rage that she beat him.<333
There's a few other things worth mentioning though to dislike him. Some of the catty comments he made were less funny and more disgusting. Calling Glyn 'Forrest Gump' :skull: . Repeatedly calling Michael 'she' and generally being homophobic to someone just recently coming out :skull: . Forcing a gay stereotype persona in 2006 :skull: .
I dunno, I do dislike him but he's a recognizable staple of BB7 with lots of importance that half the time was tolerable and he was even righteous about things when other people weren't on a few occasions, so I can never hate him properly even when I want to

50. Spiral Coroner

Not much to say on Spiral apart from that I strongly disliked him. He was sexist towards Aisleyne, easily offended, petty and despite this had very little to do with the story and was actually rather boring, as a person.
I suppose what really made me dislike Spiral was how he disliked Aisleyne because she refused to kiss him in spin the bottle. She doesn't have to you immature beast she's 27 years old and owes you nothing. It was all so entitled and gross, and highlighted how immature this guy really is. He then accused her of tempting the men or something by walking around in a thong to which she clocked his sexist ways. Also remember when he randomly went OFF on Nikki for like...no reason? Such an aggressive loser.
Bye Spiral!

49. Eugene Sully
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/bigbrotheruk/images/3/3b/Eugene_Sully.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130606173647
The first BB6 housemate goes...and it isn't Maxwell! Sorry but although Eugene was a nice enough person I found him absolutely insufferable to watch, and easily the least relevant housemate of BB6. Take him out and nothing changes apart from Derek possibly goes further which is a good thing. Every boring cringeworthy story about throwing telly's off cliffs or raio club or Morse Code just didn't raise a smile for me when we had a house FULL of actually funny people like Kemal and Derek. I felt every scene he was in would be better spent on literally ANY of the other housemates, like watching Makosi sleep would be more charming and interesting and I'm not joking.
There was also a time where he wanted Science to have a fight so he would get kicked out, which really isn't nice at all, and suggested poising his food? I found Eugene such a weak man with no backbone or any compelling personality at all, and for that he is by far the weakest BB6 housemate for me.

I liked Eugene from BB6. Anthony who won it was worse than him. I bloody loved Kinga though. She better be high. And Susie better be low. I'm still not forgiving her for putting Grace and Nikki up. She was boring and irrelevant and shouldn't have gone in.

48. Maxwell Ward
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/bigbrotheruk/images/2/25/Maxwell_Ward.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130601161651
Maxwell Ward is OUT! I know many of you think he's the worst housemate of all three series, and personally I would argue he's the worst person, but there are a few saving graces to Maxwell for me that means I can't put him bottom.
First off, Maxwell contributed hugely to what is my favourite Big Brother series, he and Saskia were at the centre of the cause of arguably the most intense divide in BB history, certainly on Channel 4, and it made for tense, shocking and brilliant television. Yes he was in the wrong in nearly all these arguments, but we wouldn't have had Makosi and Kemal's righteousness or Derek's dragging of him being a common chav or Science ending him continuously in arguments. For example. at least someone got wet tonight is a Kemal moment but if Maxwell wasn't there then it wouldn't have happened, you know? And I don't want to imagine BB6 without it's best quote.
Then there's his downfall, his and Saskia's downfall is one of my favourite Big Brother storylines and by far the best downfall arc. Going from being cheered in week 2 to ruling the house with Saskia to the others turning on them and finally cidergate  It was so good seeing his face when he was nominated against Saskia, realising his power had crumbled, and I wouldn't change it for anything. I think he actually said "WE dont deserve to go" like I would hate him way more if he had gone to the final or won but the fact he was out a week later makes it a brilliant watch, and the fact he lost to Science too . I'm not a HUGE fan of Science but watching their feud end in Maxwell, a surefire to win to everyone in the house go against loud black opinionated house loner Science was satisfying. Also kudos to him for sticking up for Sam during the bullying saga.
Despite all that though, I still really dislike Maxwell. He's racist, intimidating, aggressive, ignorant, deluded, self righteous and inarticulate. Calling Kemal a ******, saying he wanted to smash Makosi's face in, throwing water on Kemal and THROWING THE DUVET off him after that, just no. His worst moment though was admitting to putting scabs in Science's food, which is ****ing gross and a big reason I hate him as a housemate. Imagine being such a vile person you find that amusing, tragic.
So yeah Maxwell, while I appreciate him as a housemate he's a ****ing disgusting person and I'm happy to finally kick him out of here.
Matthew.

10-12-2018, 08:35 PM
Wow this is the first one I'm actually shocked by  . I thought he'd last much longer since there's people not mentioned yet I've seen you have a more vocal disliking for. Personally I prefer him to nearly all the people listed so far + Sezer/Marco/George. I actually LOVE the showmance with Saskia for how comical it is to see a typical WAG lower herself to being into a flabby football FAN instead :joker:
That said, watching her eat off his torso was almost as uncomfortable a moment as the time he smashed a giant egg over his head and split it open with blood oozing out of his head everywhere while he... laughed about it! :umm2:

47. Anthony Hutton
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/bigbrotheruk/images/4/48/Anthony_Hutton.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130606180320
The first winner out and I am sure no one is shocked at who it is. Anthony was arguably the least deserving winner on Channel 4 and the fact he won one of the best is just the cherry on the **** cake. Anthony was rude, painfully inarticulate, arrogant and despte managing to be at the centre of two of BB6's defining storylines, he still managed to be incredibly boring.
Some people may give him credit for that but seriously it was all Makosi and Craig, Anthony played no part in making those entertaining, Makosi faking a pregnancy and Craig falling in love with him pretty much got him the win, I mean the same thing could have happened to anyone, it never actually made Anthony himself compelling or watchable, not once. Anthony's attitudes to females in general was gross, thinking of everything as man points and only flirting with Makosi for the camera :umm2: so tragic.
He was also so easily influenced, by Maxwell, Craig, and even Makosi, he just ent with the wind in the house and did nothing noteworthy along the way.
I dont think hes a bad person at all, but he was a awful housemate, and deservedly the first winner out of this ranking.

15-12-2018, 04:47 PM
Will also never forgive him for calling Derek malteaser head and telling Makosi she has 'african hair' :umm2:
I may be the only one who thinks this, but there was also a few fights where Anthony was genuinely being pretty rude to Craig but at that point the public had already unanimously hated Craig enough that Anthony telling him he looked like a child murderer didn't matter to the public
Gross, remember when they sent a kitten in and Anthony had to go in the diary room with Craig to get it and Derek asked them to be gentle with it and not be loud, but then Anthony went in and SCREAMED at the camera :umm2:
Anyway I don't actually dislike Anthony and there's still several worse ones than him still left

Let's get some bores out the way
46. Michael Cheshire
http://pictures.thisisbigbrother.com/Big_Brother_7/day72-79/normal_bb7-michael-spiral-eviction_042100.jpg
When I first properly watched BB7 in 2012, I HATED Michael :joker: On rewatch, he's not that bad, but he is often an insufferable housemate to watch. He's actually one of those people who do objectively contribute to the show, his feud with Richard was one of the main plots of the middle weeks, but he's actually very actively boring in himself....imo anyway.
Speaking of his feud with Richard, I was totally on his side, you don't call a man you don't particularly like she when you KNOW it will wind them up, it's just nasty. But maybe I should have put that in the Richard writeup but I felt I put down enough reasons why I disliked him  That however doesn't make me like Michael in anyway, he made me cringe far too much with his cat, his need to come over as quirky, it all felt a bit too try hard and like he was hoping to play a certain role, idk. I put Michael in red because I dislike him as a housemate but as a person he's decent, I'm getting to the point now where I don't fully hate these people so I'm cutting those who irritated the **** out of me, and Michael certainly did that.
Good on him for wearing a Team Aisleyne tee on the final when everyone else there hated her guts though.
45. Mikey Dalton
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/bigbrotheruk/images/2/21/Mikey_Dalton.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140722081956
This may be the shortest write up of the rank as I have nothing noteworthy to say about Mikey. He was there for 11 weeks (MORE than Nikki, Aisleyne, Grace, Lea etc) and contributed nothing bar a few arguments in his last week. He may well be the housemate on this list who contributed least to the series they were in? I mean, he had a showmance with Grace which has proven to be the only real romance to come out of Big Brother  so I'm happy for him.
But in the house, he was painful. His VT is often not discussed but it was so sexist that really set the tone for my initial dislike. Then there was pretty much nothing until his last week where he picked fights with everyone for no reason and the public finally evicted him after 11 long weeks of non contribution. Though I DID like some of his drags, righteously dragging Richard is a way to get into my good books. I can't however justify putting Mikey any higher than this, and so he's gone.
OH and remember when he called Aisleyne a slut because she defended Susie? So witty.

I was googling a pic for Marco and had to use this nn
So WHEW a BB5 housemate is out...and it's Marco! When I initially did my rank I had Jason lower but the watch I'm currently having has changed that.
Though I put Marco in red I don't completely dislike him, like Maxwell with the BB6 divide, I credit Marco for going in hard in the first week and creating his harem of insane women with a chainsmoking transgender, a sex obsessed bunny boiler and a woman so dumb she genuinely can't really form a full sentence lol. Friendship goals? I'm a huge fan of the women of Marcos alliance, as you will see towards the end of this ranking, but him himself didn't really offer anything sustainable or interesting as a person. Like imagine how good it would be to get someone like Kemal to fill the role of him <3 ergh.
So of course the main thing with Marco is his ANNOYING seal clapping which I had to mute a lot of the time, his unbearable screaming, his general obnoxiousness (see fight night) and generally being a pain in the arse. I can't do a write up on Marco without mentioning his role in fight night, and im not going to lie I found the WE MIGHT DECIDE TO CLEAN UP and dancing in Jason's face kinda funny, but it was when Jason reacted he literally hid behind Nadia showing what a pathetic coward he is.
His rivalry with Ahmed is hilarious viewing and the the type of drama I watch Big Brother for, and while unlike Ahmed I dont HAAAATE him, I do dislike him and it's not mentioned enough but him going over Nadia and Michelle is possibly the best eviction result in 18 years.
Oh and his showtunes were irritating and never funny. :)

Lol. Jonathan. Short and sweet. He seemed a nice dude. I rather he went in the house too. But yeah pretty much Aishleyne just stole all the thunder crying in the diary room trying to choose between him and Spiral and she said Jonathan didn't mind going. Maybe if a future BB happens Jonathan will get another chance? I mean Nikki has been given 500 chances at least..

42. George Askew
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/bigbrotheruk/images/7/75/George_Askew.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140722082024
As an introduction, George is my pick for the hottest male in this countdown...he's honestly GORGEOUS. Sadly, his personality didn't match this at all, while not completely disliking George he was a poor housemate most of the time. His good points include being the one person not to walk out of lounge on Shahbaz when everyone else did, which I guess showed he wasn't a follower and could make his own mind up? I had a lot of respect for George in that moment.
The thing that ruins George for me is his treatment of Nikki, which sucked, he would comfort her and lead her on whilst slagging her off behind her back, being such an elitist snob (and this can be hilarious in Big Brother, but George wasn't witty nor was he funny), slagging her off for like...wearing skirts and going clubbing in skimpy outfits? Let miss Grahame live! Then there's the Grace thing, in which he obviously fancied her and made up some trash ecxuse about not wanting fame when she was more interested in Mikey, like he didn't have four weeks of hiding and pre talks from producers to think about that :) I have to laugh.
George was only there a week and a half, and in that time made me feel nothing but irritation (and fancying him). His highlight was when Grace wanted him to stay desperately so her group wasnt up lmao. Safe to say when he left the show didnt miss him at all, and nor did I.

This might come as a shock to some because I used to really like Lesley lol. I think I even made a thread about her  However I have since rewatched her two weeks and I really didn't like her by the end of her stint? She was HILARIOUS in her first week with some of her quotes about the biggest tits in Huddersfield, and she know's she's gorgeous so she doesn't need to be told. That's all great. It's her tratment of Sam that put me off massively, I used to think it was a feud but lets be honest it was bullying caused by nothing but resentment that there was a pretty girl in the house who the boys liked. The make up bag night was just plain malicious but it did give us SHUT UP BITCH and I TOOK YER MAKE UP BAG BECAUSE I DONT FOOKIN LIKE YA. This is by far my hardest cut so far so dont be surprised if she's randomly moved up a couple spots in a few months, but for now Lesley was just too much of a **** to enjoy properly for me.

40. Glyn Wise
https://tellymix.co.uk/ts/800/450/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Glyn-Wise-bb.jpg
Sorry but...he annoyed the **** out of me? I think this will be my first entry into which the housemate is strongly liked by some, but I just could never take to Glyn. In a series with some fascinating characters and actual journeys, I didn't care about Glyn's supposed "journey" of becoming a man or whatever. OK he learned to boil an egg and his fashion taste improved, but I don't see how this is at all compelling or sellable as a storyline when we have Aisleyne going on an actual emotional journey and changing in front of us in the same house, you know?
Aside from that though, I found Glyn a really annoying presence. He was pretty irrelevant to the story so he was often in the background making a poor joke or farting or whatever, and it just didnt work for me at all. Not to say there's times I never liked Glyn, I liked how he had a few people in the house spot on and how he defended Grace in front of the people in the house who disliked her most. His most irritating point to me came when he climbed on the roof in an attempt to see her, I just found it so pathetic and try hard tbh? This list has some really strong housemates, so it's a good sign of quality when I'm still lowdown on the ranking and nitpicking reasons, but Glyn did nothing for me, and I have to put him here.

I know many on here adore Roberto and I know the likes of Epic and LemonJam will NOT agree but Roberto just does nothing for me. I LOVE him pouring spaghetti on Maxwells head and his friendship with Derek but I don't like his picking on Kemal and butting in to that situation as if his comments were necessary. It's up to Kemal why and when he tells his parents, and Roberto has nothing to with that, saying he doesn't respect his parents by coming out on televison when he has no idea about the relationship or Kemals inner struggles was low.
I dont know, maybe on another series like BB7 Roberto could have blossomed into a great housemate or at least a good one, but in the most ott series like BB6, he was mostly just noise to me.
My favourite thing about him was his on off relationship with Mary O'Leary who ya'll know I adore and wont be seeing for a looooong time :) "ROBERTO ROBERTO ROBERTO"

Sorry but I found him really boring. He's supposed to be witty and funny but like...was he really? He was funny with Nadia but other than that it was "gone down like granny on frosty morning" which raised a smile the first time but ears thin after the fourth or fifth. His most annoying trait was wanting to leave before the final and not wanting to win and then...not leaving before the final knowing he could win. Idk he was a good person and sometimes he did provide, but for me he was just to condescending and boring.

So to preface this, this is where I start liking or having mixed feelings on these people. So for the next fifteen or so placemements there will be a mix of green and pink )pink is mixed feelings). There are some people in this ranking who I like less than Becki who im mixed on but I found them stronger housemates.
37. Becki Seddiki
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/bigbrotheruk/images/d/d0/Becki_Seddiki.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130423184144
So the first person in green! Congratulations sis. I never strongly liked Becki but she was a fun background person in the house, she actually helped spice up a time in the series where it could have gotten boring. After Marco left and the divide storyline ended, and before the show properly picked up Nadia's journey and Michelle and Stuart as the storylines of the second half of the series, Becki initiated a few games and fun that kept me entertained when nothing much was going on, drama wise. My favourite being Jam Night in which they streaked, sucked jam off eachothers boobs, kissed and had a fun night which was needed after the heavy drama the BB5 house went through. She also cheered up Ahmed and the scene of them spanking eachother is both hilarious and bizarre. Thanks Becki!
Of course the main thing with Becki was her kiss to Michelle, who despite being an obsessive argumentative bunny boiler was somehow hugely popular <3 and the crowd HATED her for it. Watch her eviction interview if you can, it's really nasty. Despite being a Michelle fan, I dont hold it against Becki, wouldn't we all have nomainted the housemate we least clicked with? Also her keeping Nadias secret and defending transgenders to Victor and Jason was really touching.
Despite receiving my first mostly positive writeup, Becki was kind of annoying a lot of the time and very try hard, but she was mostly a fun lovely girl who lightened up a tense house.
36. Dawn Blake
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/bigbrotheruk/images/f/fc/Dawn_Blake.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130608114916
I don't feel good about this :( Dawn had the most underrated VT in the history of the show and then came in to...not do much for a few days, so I was let down. HOWEVER the bizarre way in which she left propels her into green, having a code that if she wasnt liked on the outside world, her sister would say she needed to go via saying someone isnt well or something? like clever legend but kind of evil? I dont know, I put Dawn here because she was only there a week and actually was pretty dull beside her exit, I just ish she could have stayed so we could have explored Dawn's character more. I feel we barely scratched the surface with her, she could have turned into a complex, great housemate who unraveled before us...but I guess we'll never know so I have to put her here. Also she went on hunger strike when she left which just kind of backs up my points there was a lot to Dawn we never saw. As it is though, she ends up here.

35. Susie Verrico
http://pictures.thisisbigbrother.com/userpics/13544/suziePA100606_228x__6.jpg
Susie is hugely popular on this forum, and if I tilt my head and squint I can see why. She comes in late, stays eight weeks despite being disliked by the majority of the housemates, nominates a disliked housemate and then bosses everyone around looking down on people whilst drinking tea for eight weeks. Put like that, Susie sounds like someone I would love, I'm a huge fan of posh snobs who hates everyone around them, but for me, Susie didn't work in action.
I actually think she helped ruin the series in someways! I know almost no one will agree with me here, but I was really enjoying the Grace's gang vs Richard's gang storyline and would have loved Grace to have a natural downfall where her housemates slowly discover her scheming, but Susie ruined that. I wouldn't normally blame her for this, but it's obvious she was hugely swayed by the crowd on her way in, as Grace did actually try and make an effort with her. She then spent the next few weeks contributing not much at all to the house, and according to the other housemates, actively stifling the once fun atmosphere of the house.
That's not to say I dislike Susie though, I used to, but once I got past her taking out one of my favourites (spoiler but come on you all know Grace is going nowhere soon) I came to kind of enjoy her quirky mannerisms an addiction to tea, she was overall a bizarre addition to the Big Brother 7 cannon, and though I wish she had entered in a different manner, I wouldn't have erased her from the show if I had the choice, just change a few things.
Part of me wants Susie higher and part of me wants her lower, but the truth is she never really compelled or entertained me, and I do find her overrated on this forum, so she's out.

OK.
As a winner, I hate Pete, he's fake, try hard, obviously acting, predictable from night one, and plays such a small role in his series I don't see how some people see a big characters. Look past the initial quirkiness and what you'll see is a pretty dull person who is pretty much literal background noise. He himself is only made relevant by the women of BB7, who all seem to fall for him in one of the series main storylines.
As a person and sometimes a housemate, I dont mind him, sometimes I even like him. He's not as bad as Anthony for sure, and we can thank him for being the main reason the Nikki and Aisleyne rivalry was born. He was caring and compassionate towards Shahbaz, and overall, despite being imo fake in a lot of his actions, showed a nice character who I can't be too mad at winning.
My main problem is his cowardice, not once did he let Nikki or Lea know he wasn't into them (at first with Nikki) instead choosing to squirm out of situations and avoid any sort of problem. He literally hid in the bathroom for 20 minutes when Grace returned even though they had no problem, and that is absolutely pathetic for a grown man.
I feel maybe I put Pete too high, but he was ok overall, even if as a winner, he's one of the worst the show has seen.

I know many of you will be thrilled Sezer is out (EPIC) and contrary to popular belief I'm not a fan of Sezer and nor is he my favourite BB7 male. He is however, severly overhated in these parts, I completely understand why he's so disliked, he's arrogant, rude, deluded and has a superiority complex, but let me try explain why I think he's not that bad.
I'll start with week 1 which is when I personally didn't like him at all, whilst not the ringleader like many people say, he was horrible to Shahbaz, throwing his cereal away was a low point and made me feel nothing but disgust. He did, however, give Shahbaz many chances and well I can imagine how being locked up with someone so unstable would be unpleasant for anyone to deal with.
Week 2 though...I kind of found him a scream. People seem to dislike him for saying he would bully opinions out of Aisleyne which lol? He never actually did, and they got on pretty well. What's great about him though is his downfall, he honestly thought he was safe and went with a massive percentage which wrapped up his story arc neatly.
I dont know, when he was doing diary rooms explaining how hes not going anywhere and how hes going to get the other crew out, it was so ridiculous and cartoonish I just didn't see him mean any harm to anyone? He was righteous with hoochgate, started a relationship with Imogen, and was such a dickhead it circled back to hilarious a lot of the time for me, Shahbaz not included. He was actually a pretty intelligent guy with a good read of the game and, despite liking his storyline, would have liked to have seen him stay longer.
I guess to me he was just a interesting chatacter who had a lot of potential, I never liked him, but I was sad to see him go.
Epic.

Overhated? He's not hated enough on here!
"He gave Shahbaz many chances"
He also bullied Shahbaz many more times than everyone and flat out threatened violence on him.
"He was righteous with hoochgate"
Knowing Richard is a bully and a prick doesn't make you a rootable housemate, it just means you have common sense for what a bully is, which Sezer would know as he was one of the most repulsive ones ever.
I've already wasted my breath on this doughy cretin bottom 5 housemate many times so I'll just let Kemal close things
"Inconsiderate, insensitive, annoying, horrible, nasty, a bully, intimidating, over the top, under the top, over the top, round the top, thinks he's the best, thinks the world owes him a favour, is ungrateful, picks on people, is intimidating, doesn't act his age he acts his shoe size, he NEEDS to leave this ranking!"

I liked Pete but there were better characters so think he's ranked fairly. I forgot why did he hide in the bathroom away from Grace? Did he fancy her? Mmm Pete seemed the same person when he was on Jeremy Kyle the other year. I do think he is genuinely a nice wacky person. I don't know if he played up to his tourettes though  He was definitely desperate to win when he told Richard in the last week he dreamt of angels or something and they said he was going to win. Mmm he only had two sides to him really. The caring side and wacky quirky side.

Everyone should thank Kitten. She's the housemate who started BB5 manically and caused all the entertainment of the first week, she's like Shahbaz and Mary but idk I guess less compelling than both, though much more comfortable to watch as a week one eccentric than Shahbaz. I don't really have much else to say, Kitten wasn't a character to dig deep into, she was just a good, though irritating, plot device to start off one of the best series with a bang.

31. Orlaith McAllister
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/bigbrotheruk/images/d/da/Orlaith_McAllister.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130602172156
I have to start with saying I think Orlaith is unfairly dismissed on here! I don't think I ever actively liked her, but she did contribute a lot to BB6 in her stay, not anywhere near the dizzying heights of most of the cast, but still certainly made her mark and impact on the series.
She was involved in a lot of arguments, was a big reason Makosi and Kemal fall out (you may not like it as I know they're popular as a duo, but it made for entertaining viewing), was a big player in pool night, and had a hilarious rivalry with Derek where they both hated eachother's guts but would never actually say anything, admittedly I would have liked an argument to come from this but it's not as if arguments were in short supply in BB6 so I can deal with it.
I think my man appreciation of Orlaith comes from her role in Makosi's clique, she joined them straight away, bitching about Saskia and having Maxwell down as a disgusting unhygienic pig. She then went on to be secretly hated by Makosi and Kemal all while Kemal and Makosi fell out themselves, something Kemal's paranoia about her contributed to. I guess for me she's like a person who goes to a desert island or something in a film, confidently thinking it would all be fun only to find herself surrounded by lunatics and not being able to cope. She does this much better than Anthony does, aswell.
Yes she took out two big characters, but like, her walking gave us Kinga so I'm not that mad. Kemal and Science both stayed a very long time, and while it was gross of Orlaith to do what she did and the reason she doesn't rank higher (Kemal </3) I would actually rather have two weeks of Kinga than more of Kemal and Science, who I had already got to know by that point, sorry about it.
Epic.
31-12-2018, 10:05 AM
She was involved in a lot of arguments, but c'mon, it was almost always Science or Makosi who brought it, they were practically the only ones she argued with apart from that one time she had a row with Anthony where both looked awful during it.
Really aside from "SHUT IT, ZIP IT, LOCK IT, THROW AWAY THE KEY!" and "SHUT UP AND LEAVE ME ALOONE!" what exactly was the point or appeal with her? I like your description of her being the normality around crazies much better than Anthony's role with it, but it would've easily been a closed case already if she just walked after her big rows with Science. All you'd really lose is Derek and Kemal's quotable bitching about her, but both would've probably moved onto doing that with either Makosi or Science or Anthony or really practically anyone.
Ashleigh Coyle does moany, miserable Northern Irish lass much better<33333

https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/bigbrotheruk/images/6/6d/Jason_Cowan.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130601165007
When I originally made this list, Jason was below Marco at 45! So this is a pretty big jump for him, and I have grown an appreciation for him thanks to my current BB5 watch. Do I ever like or support him? No, but he's a much more fascinating character than I thought.
For the first month, Jason is a pretty dull character with a showmance and annoying teasing thing with Daniel, but as the series progresses, he's actually pretty complex and sometimes endearing! :o I honestly never thought I would type that out. Jason is a moody, sleazy. rude, arrogant man who goes way too personal (calling Nadia trapjaw) and generally spends most of his day in bed or pruning himself in the mirror. What most surprised me about Jason was how insecure he actually is, of course he's not as confident as he makes out when he spends three hours on average a night doing his hair and fake tanning, asking housemates constantly whether he had lost his definiton or shape, I almost found his insecurities relateable - note the important word there, almost. Jason was disliked by the majoriy of his housemates for being miersable, but it all kind of makes sense as to why he is - he's stuck in a house with people he dislikes and doesn't truly fit in with the group and never does, no one really likes him like they do Victor, and that must be a daunting feeling realising everything he wants to come accross as "funtime frankie" he really isn't.
Anyway I could never support Jason and actually disliked him numerous times, but he was a good housemate, his arguments with Nadia were great and it all ended with them as the final two and her beating him. Perfect.

Small man syndrome transferring itself to a gigantic man.
If I were watching back in 2004 when BB5 aired, I would've probably hated Jason but he's great for rewatches/first watches as you have your own pace to analyse him. He was a freak and notorious house enemy, but he always had this endearing empathetic appeal to him. I think we can all relate to being needlessly insecure about looks and doing ridiculous methods to try and improve them. I remember that time he was flexing shirtless in the bathroom, and then asked Daniel if any volume could be seen :joker: .
It should also be worth mentioning that even though he generally wasn't liked by the house as you said, I still scream at how he was pretty much evicted every single post-fight night week but was saved out of complete convenience, whether it be no nominations, being 1 vote away from nominations, a lucky twist like the bootcamp task, or when he actually IS up, still surviving because of Victor/Michelle making tits at themselves at the last second, he kept somehow sliding through while millions of Brits raged that he still wouldn't piss off  .
I also think him and Nadia were much more similar and had more chemistry than they let on. Both very short-fused, insecure people who hate watching themselves back, and take too much personally. But where Nadia had the house rally behind her in the end and she overcame insecurities to go onto win, Jason left the house not really learning anything, and not realising how moody he actually came across. It's pretty tragic, but it's also hilarious for moments like looking away from the screen any time Davina shown him his cringier moments <3

Not much to say about Stuart, he's a fun character in a fairly manic series, he's not a character you need to delve deep into to enjoy. Contrary to popular opinion, Stuart was never boring, had a hilarious eccentricity about him that is rarely mentioned (see: goin to the diary room to nominate as characters, his obsession with cowboy hats) and the piss taking from Big Brother about that hat was just a scream and something that the producers were lacking in well...any post BB8 series? He also had the relationship with Michelle but I'll be saving that for her write up.
