- Elaine during FTC is great especially the thing about taking a pen and just remembering to vote her out in 20 days :joker: The sob story was a bit lame though, Ronnie's right about everyone having their backstory to getting there.

- I didn't think Vince had a chance of going but I wish it was him (figured Ronnie but maybe a bit of a chance of Elaine but either way they were both pretty good on this premiere)... Vince was kinda annoying. I like/liked Elaine & Ronnie had major potential from the bit they showed of him </3

I enjoyed the premiere. Cutting out the initial marooning and landing them straight on their respective beaches was great for the editing. It was enjoyable to have the castaways routinely introduced one at a time through actual camp life interactions as opposed to introductory confessionals.

I'm definitely a fan of Vokai more than I am of Lairo... but I do think both tribes have interesting dynamics and I pray they don't rush into a tribal swap too soon so that we can be blessed with high-level character development and fully realized tribal dynamics.

Tbh I could do without the Island of the Idols segments. When I watch Survivor I care more for the social element and for character development than I do for game-changing twists. Didn't really care for Elizabeth's mission and I just found that placing a time limit on HIIs renders them pretty mediocre as a prize.

It was pretty obvious after the challenge that Jack would be going home tho :/ Idk why I knew for sure it would be him instead of Jamal but it just seemed that way. That was one hell of a plan by Kellee though!

Missy is pretty great which is a pretty quick/big turnaround for me from a few weeks ago :laugh: Lauren & Tommy grew back on me a bit this episode. I think I'm rooting for that tribe a bit more overall although this merge could get super messy and I don't think these current tribes will make up the "sides" whatsoever lol.

Yeah this is probably it but reeeeally dumb in that case. No one knows he has the idol so he's not obligated to do it for someone that hates him sometimes lmao (I guess at least it wasn't indifference :joker:) & they'd still have a numbers advantage anyway even if he thinks it's "Vokai strong". I can’t decide what I’m more taken aback by, the show ending in a Kellee/Jamal boot and a presumable Tommy win after all the feminism buildup, Twitter being fake woke and labeling Missy and Elizabeth and Lauren catty ass bitches who are cancerous to feminism, or Facebook for predictably sympathizing with Dan.

Needless to say, there is A LOT to unpack and I will have many thoughts to post when I rewatch this weekend. Because as much as I stanned Kellee and Janet tonight, some of their actions were..... I don’t want to say questionable, but you could very easily take umbrage with Kellee bonding with Missy for two hours over their feelings of Dan only to try to ice her or Janet appointing herself as the spokesperson for all women when no one asked her to, even if her intentions were largely good at heart.

This all went very dark, very quickly. Like how does this go from being a golden season to making me so uncomfortable in one double episode?

As Macy said, there's a lot to get your head around here, probably more so than is possible to after one viewing. But I have to say, Dan just needs to go. Aaron's language at tribal was disgusting. I am so disappointed in Elizabeth, Missy, Lauren, and to a lesser extent Elaine for effectively using the situation for leverage in the game. There was SO much at stake here, and it was made to seem SO trivial by some players. I just feel SO sorry for Janet and Kellee. Kellee was ignored, and Janet was scapegoated in the most horrible of ways. It just became so damn dark, and I don't know where the season will go from here?

Wtf I was rooting for Missy but screw her she had legitimate uncomfortable feelings about Dan and then completely dismissed them and threw Janet under the bus, but what's even worse is Elizabeth who intentionally went out of her way to make untrue sexual harassment claims because she "needs to do anything to keep the target off her" no wonder the low life scum were so quiet during the tribal.

Is Dan probably creepy and touchy? Yes.
Did he legitimately make some of the woman uncomfortable? Yes.

Although I don't believe that was his intentions, some of the woman did feel that way. And for Missy and Elizabeth to use that as part of their game, well they're getting the hate they deserve and I'm looking forward to the crying apologies at the reunion on finale night.

^ I actually think the Missy situation is a little more complicated than that because from her perspective, the only information she had was that Kellee spent two hours confiding in her about how uncomfortable Dan makes her feel, and then Missy was later informed that Kellee was working on some plan to blindside her. At the very least I'm sure Missy felt hurt and betrayed by this, and it's entirely possible that she could've thought that Kellee was using the Dan stuff as gameplay to keep her blind to the fact that she's targeting her. I definitely don't think the Missy/Elizabeth scene was a good look by any means, but I also think it's gross that they're somehow getting more vitriol on social media than Dan is himself. I think trying to simplify the Kellee/Missy/Elizabeth/Janet issue into "X was right and Y was wrong" is dangerous because it is such a complex situation with so many layers to it, but at the end of the day the person who should be getting the most backlash is Dan. And he's somehow not :skull:

Are people really mad at Missy & Elizabeth? I’m sorry but that’s just kinda silly. I don’t think they condoned any type of inappropriate behavior or “silenced” Kellee or anything like that at all. It’s just a game and they used what they could to get ahead. I don’t fault them ngl...

First of all, I think they didn’t take Dan’s actions as seriously/offensively/uncomfortably as Kellee and didn’t realize exactly how bad she actually felt about it. Tbf to them, she wasn’t totally transparent as she was in her confessional, they didn’t see her crying like she was in her confessional so it was hard for them to see the extent to which she felt and on top of that they knew she was willing to keep Dan and plot against Missy so, like, me personally... I wouldn’t think it’s that serious and would want to get one up on her too. :shrug: I'm not fully sure of the timeline but her targeting Missy at first makes it pretty fair game for them to target her regardless of the situation.

Like let’s consider, even with HOW KELLEE FELT, she still wanted to use the Dan vote as a decoy, keep him around, and secretly vote out Missy ?!?!?! Like what, she was kinda doing the same thing in a way, she just happened to be the one that felt legitimately uncomfortable with Dan and happened to be the one that actually got played in the end :joker: --- don’t get me wrong it came across more shady from Missy & Elizabeth since they played something up (that can be serious) that Kellee legitimately felt but meh I’m not gonna blame them for using that as strategy.. maybe that’s just me but I like the people who play with zero restrictions, zero limitations, kinda zero morals really. That's why I like Fairplay, Sandra, Tony, Russell Hantz and so on as while they may or may not have been as offensive in how they played, they're still the types that would have no boundaries or filter to make it through the game.

Either way, voting out Kellee is not silencing her situation and neither is it silencing a situation like this outside of Survivor in the real world.

1) People feel differently about their bodies being touched and Missy/Elizabeth's interpretation of the situation was that it wasn’t a serious issue, in the middle of playing a game for a million dollars. The examples Kellee used to them consisted of Dan getting something off the side of her face and Dan stroking his hand through her hair after she commented on it being dirty. Keeping it 100: I don’t fault them for their misunderstanding of the situation or their choice in gameplay tbh.
2) Voting her out in a game when they personally feel fine with Dan (while they see Kellee as a threat who was being sneaky in this same vote) is NOT indicative of how they would handle this situation IRL if a woman was in this position coming to them, confiding in them with this info, etc. All of that seems pretty clear & obvious to me so I’m leaving it at that.
3) On the other side of things, it’s also not hurting Dan’s reputation in the case that they were playing something up to be bigger than it was (ie. falsely accusing him). They say in confessionals that they actually feel comfortable with Dan and have settled any possible issues with him. So that's their truthful thoughts with him. Kellee explained her own situation in confessionals for her truthful thoughts with him.

I think Lauren was worse than them 2 because she automatically took Dan's side in specifically "not wanting to vote him out for those reasons" because it didn't sit well with her knowing she's only had good experiences with Dan. To me, she basically wrote off Kellee's claims just because of her own relationship with Dan whereas I think Missy & Elizabeth were simply focused on game here and IMO that's fine, even for something like this.

But if someone is going to get bashed it should be Dan obviously ffs :joker: Even then, the guy is creepy & overly touchy very clearly in his actions but is he some kind of sexual predator or evil person? iiiidk. There's a lot of men & particularly women out there that are veeeery much like Dan in doing a lot of unnecessary touching that I wouldn't call predators or harassers. Does his actions even fall under sexual harassment? To my understanding of sexual harassment I really, genuinely don't think so and I think this seems very blown out of proportion as a whole from what I can tell. Doesn't mean Kellee isn't in the right of feeling uncomfortable with Dan and that he has over-stepped his boundaries in ways this season... but in agreement with Varner on this: it actually is invasion of space more than anything else and I can't believe this is even being compared to sexual abuse and such.

1) Emphasis on Kellee was in the right. I just don't know if I'd call the situation "sexual harassment" (or anything further that seems to be getting drawn comparisons to) but it's definitely not a good look for Dan and totally justified for her to be uncomfortable there. I was just focusing more on Survivor fans possibly going OTT on the Missy/Elizabeth/even Dan hate. And I'm not sure if Lauren is getting any hate but I'll take what Missy & Elizabeth did for gameplay over one or two of Lauren's confessionals / side conversations that episode. :shrug: (not totally blaming her either tho)

2) Dan looked soooooo damn bad @ that TC where he just so badly wanted to "let it go"... waaay too dismissive, pretty gross attitude until the end maybe. Like he came across like he was hiding & downplaying things, and showed barely any type of empathy or acknowledgment of what he at least could have possibly done to rub some of the women the wrong way, no pun intended. :skull:

I think the reason why Missy/Elizabeth are getting a lot of heat is because Kellee's confessional was basically "Missy is smart and such a good player and I would LOVE to work with her, but unfortunately it's too late and the lines are already drawn so I actually need to target her" while we got a scene of Missy coaching Elizabeth on what to say to Janet and how to have a mother-daughter moment where they bond over Dan touching everyone. Obviously it's a much more complex situation than the show can accurately portray, but the mental whiplash from Kellee/Missy talking for 2+ hour about how creepy Dan is and Missy coaching Elizabeth on what to say to Janet, only for them to effectively gaslight Janet after TC isn't a good look at all.

Ultimately, if anyone is to blame it's ****ing production for how shoddily they handled the situation. It's been an ongoing issue since Day 1 and a warning should've been issued much earlier. Like, we're so far into the ~big movez culture~ that we just watched multiple people feel as though they have to push aside their discomfort with someone sexually harassing them (yes, making multiple women feel uncomfortable by touching them even when they tell you not to is sexual harassment, let's not lose sight of that) because they need his vote FoR ThE NuMbErS is just soooo grim and depressing and sad for the state of the show. Not to mention that the exit interviews are finally coming out and there are some huuuuuuge contradictions (Jeff claims that Kellee was told that she was allowed to speak at the Jamal boot TC while she claims that she was never informed of this and had no clue that the Dan thing was even going to be discussed in depth, uncertainty as to whether or not Dan received a formal warning at all, Josh Wigler quitting his Survivor coverage over all the bull**** surrounding this episode among other things, etc.) It was easy for everyone to act like Jeff did a good job by telling Dan that he would never let this go, but it's clear that he just wanted a punchline for people to remember as he tries to make Survivor some warped After School Special. Dan shouldn't have even seen the merge vote.

I can only feel that Karishma stayed voting Janet just as an insurance policy in case she misplayed her idol and didn't receive many votes. Of course she was wrong to think that because OF COURSE the entire tribe hates her for no reason whatsoever and were going to vote her off unanimously if it weren't for Dan being smart(?) and placing a vote on Elizabeth. I really wish Karishma had convinced Elizabeth to vote in sync with her.

I love Dean and Lauren but this episode showed they have an inflated sense of self in this game (Dean trying to paint other people as goats and Lauren playing ha idol because I'm sure she was CERTAIN that Karishma was going to take a swing at someone big and Lauren assumed that this could ONLY mean her!)

Lauren doesn’t suck because she played her HII- it’s only good for two rounds anyway and since Karishma got almost all of the votes it wasn’t a bad idea at all for Lauren to play hers because it would only take one or two votes to go home. She sucks because she’s annoying and all of the work she’s putting in is only going to lead to a Tommy win.

And let’s not act like people hate Karishma for no reason. Her whole appeal is that she’s a disaster of a human being who continually self-victimizes to no end :love:

Even if Karishma does rub them the wrong way, it really unsettled me when she was crying on the bench and no one even looked over, nevermind actually put their food down and make sure she was OK.

She might not be easy to be around, but there's a lot to be said about the fact that it's X vs. 1 yet people who sit pretty in the majority are still only worried about how they are made to feel...

- Dean's fake (or second fake) Legacy advantage lmaoooo... really good plan in theory but not when the original is also fake :laugh: Technically he could still use it to his advantage possibly but he totally seems like another Jay MvGx to me.
- Solid job by Lauren with this whole plan to get herself an immunity idol :clap1:
- Karishma just keeps getting a bit more annoying by the episodes. I guess she's a bit Angelina-esque although I actually loved to hate Angelina a lot more. I just don't really care much about Karishma aside from her same ol' shtick managing to be a little funny at times but not feeling it this ep.
- Dan is even more cringey annoying in this scene where Karishma & Elizabeth have a talk on the hammock tho :skull: He reeeeally should've went where Kellee or Jamal went. Also I find it so weird and awkward how integrated he is with the tribe now. Feel like he's a F3 goat just waiting to happen with Kellee getting her chance to speak.
- Laaaaaame @ Elizabeth ending up going after K's idol play. Wish she would've put 2 votes on Janet but 1) not sure if she knew the votes weren't getting split evenly, 2) not sure if she knew that's who Karishma was voting, 3) not even fully sure if it was her or Karishma that voted Janet... who voted Elizabeth originally?
- I like Missy's reactions on the jury :joker:

New person finding an idol next week? Between that and a boring family visit episode that might be quite a bad episode lol.

Alright I have just binged all of this season so far in the past few days and this is very different compared to the early seasons which I have been watching. Going from the 4th season to the 39th one was always going to be like that though. I was surprised that there are no titles anymore, or that the Tribal Council music changed. (I liked the old one) I was also surprised to find out about Hidden Immunity Idols being scattered across the island :laugh: I prefer the old seasons, well the ones I have seen anyway (have yet to see Thailand wish me luck :worry:) but this season is pretty enjoyable, although the merge episode with the Dan situation was very grim to watch. He gave me sleazy vibes from the first episode and at least that episode gave him the expose that he deserved. Creepy, disgusting man. (and in other news, water is wet) It was really gross how Kellee spoke up abour Dan’s behaviour and suffered for it, and it’s a really sad reflection on society today. Janet came across fantastically, she is an angel :love: Here is my cast ranking, I’ll wait until after the season to include the eliminated castaways though. Kellee, Jamal and Vince would be high though :love:

KARISHMA'S HUSBAND :love::love::love: almost making the family visit worth it? Like of course Lauren is married to some nerdy ass white guy and is SOBBING MID-CHALLENGE. Of course Dean is a momma's boy and had a tough childhood that Probst wishes he would expand upon more. Of course Noura has a kooky sister. Of course Dan's loved one is a thirteen year old kid. OF COURSE Elaine's girlfriend looks like some combo of Dolly, Scout, and Lee-Anne from Survivor SA?!?!?!

I'm gonna guess our luck's gonna run out this episode and it's bye bye Karishma or Noura.
