View Full Version : Dominic Cummings PM’s top adviser broke lockdown rules TWO times
Touch dramatic, he's not on trial.
Feels like it with he build up to it all...even this afternoon it's been described as sensational and unprecedented before he even spoke..

Its disgraceful. People who died were made to die alone, their families had to grieve alone whilst isolating, old and infirm members of family were left to rot in care homes that were infested with the virus, people have lost their livelihood, friends, kids couldn't go to school, see their grandparents, people had cancer treatments and life saving operations cancelled.....but yeah Cummings was more than entitled to drive just on the off chance,he possibly, might get sick and couldn't look after his kid. Sounds fair to me

He drove to the castle. And drove to Durham, that’s TWO journeys
Barnard Castle is actually a town in County Durham.
He basically had a thirty minute test drive from where he was staying to see if he had enough strength for the longer journey.
Not too sure of the rights of wrongs of the test drive, as his intention was to drive back to work.
Never been a DC fan but thought he gave a good account of what he thought was ok.

Okie dokie....personally, I wouldn't risk my family by sending my possibly infected child to them....neither would I have expected anyone to "take him off my hands". If he got sick I would have taken care of him. By the time they were showing symptoms the likelihood is he would also have been at least asymptomatic....no way would I have driven him 200+ miles away to be looked after by family.

He said he didn't want his sisters house to become a target like his had at the time.
His house wasn't a target. It has been over the last couple of days for obvious reasons but it wasn't then. Why would his sisters house become a target for anything if they were just helping him care for his child?
The press and commoners didn't all hunt for Boris' children when he was ill. Although if the PM doesn't know where they are, not sure we'd have found them either.

Hes still not going anywhere, Johnson is in his pocket for whatever reason and his hands are tied. They're not even bothering to come up with more than a flimsy excuse. Some very gullible people will buy it, most people won't, but it won't make any difference. They don't actually care. They're in for the next 4.5 years and this will be long forgotten by then, so they don't have to give a ****.

Yes they get slated...not as individuals though. I understand that in his position he can’t afford to make an ill thought judgement as he made the rules. Two things don’t make sense with his story which makes the whole debacle questionable.
1. Not letting the PM know...an e-mail would have been an option.
2. The castle visit...not believable.

It makes me so angry.

None of this makes it ok. The rules are if anyone in your household displays coronavirus symptoms, you should self isolate at home for 14 days. He went back to work on the same day (then drove 260 miles to Durham as we all know)

The guidance was if you displayed symptoms of coronavirus to isolate with the rest of your household for 14 days, not guess whether it might be another virus altogether and go into work anyway.

If they were that bothered they wouldn't go shopping..cause they have 100 times more chance of catching it from that than catching it from dom and his mrs jumping in a car with their kid.
But i would bet they all still go shopping and did at the time.
Again, if you ignore any and all reasons people have taken issue with his actions, it's easy to see it like this.
Making it everybody else's issue instead of his. You should be a politician.
The guidance was if you displayed symptoms of coronavirus to isolate with the rest of your household for 14 days, not guess whether it might be another virus altogether and go into work anyway.
Yes but as he said ... she didn’t have the cough or the fever ... the two recognised signs at the time so she was ill but it wasn’t presenting as Covid19 at that time

All Legit
I'm aware it is contracted work via agencies abroad. I see it as exploitative however 'legit' it is.

Was Caroline Flack a government advisor who broke rules introduced by them on everyone else? Ridiculous comparison
No she was a domestic abuser
Much worse

What people, the ones I've spoken 2 couldn't give 2 fly you know what's...the press however and labour and the SNP...ohmygoodness you would think he had shot someone the way they are acting.

That’s my take on things .. I have seen reports and indeed have my own thoughts on Cummings and his ‘quirky’ ways and the fact that he’s unpopular because he’s not a people person.. but he’s not actually hurt anyone and if he wasn’t such an important component to the conservative cause then Labour wouldn’t be so keen on getting him out .
I think all those crammed in local parks and beaches or those who’ve hardly changed their ways since day one have done far more harm

She was, yes, which is still awful. However, she was also (quite blatantly) in the midst of a mental health breakdown. Are you suggesting that Dom has been struggling with his mental health? I haven't seen any suggestion or indication of that? Although... getting your kid in a car and driving 30 miles to test your eyesight isn't exactly sane so maybe :worry:.

It's such a crock... worried about his eyesight so drove a car, with a kid in it?

Its fascinating in this case.
I mean, I think we all know for an obvious and absolute fact that the idea of driving a car to test your eyesight is utterly ridiculous and stupid, like something you'd see in a silly lampooning comedy, and you'd chuckle and think how it would never happen...
... And yet, I see multiple people insisting blue in the face that it's a reasonable or normal (or plausible) explanation for Cummings driving to a castle. :joker: at this point I don't know if people are lying to others... or just to themselves. Do you really, truly believe it? I'm fascinated.

I really don't think some people are that bothered about what he has done , as others were doing it way before this incident including other ministers ,it's more of who has done it, some people don't like him and its a great way to have a go at the government and hitting back at Brexit , we know what he's done and so it rolls on.I know I will get sniped at for this opinion but that's me.
Is the eyesight thing the only thing people have left to cling onto in this non story...

It isn't, the whole thing is a farce, the eyesight nonsense is just the most glaring example of why the whole story is a turd sandwich. But some people seem totally happy to gobble it up :joker:. Yum yum yum, yummy poop sandwich, lay me another one Dom!
