After more than a year off air, Laura Whitmore returns to host a brand new season with a line up of singletons looking for love.

The first episode will see the very first coupling as the Islanders meet one another for the first time.

Based on nothing more than first impressions, who will couple with who and will any of the pairs last until the end?

Host Laura says: "I meet all the Islanders the way everyone else meets all the Islanders. So when they come into the Villa and they do the line-up, that’s the first time I’m meeting all of them as well. So I’m looking forward to that.

"It’s so funny because you change your opinion so much. You meet someone and you go, ‘Oh, they’re my favourite’. And then I’ll have a different favourite by the next week.

"The first day, that’s the big day. And I love trying to guess who I think they’ll choose. I never get it right.”

Love Island will air nightly on ITV2 and ITV Hub throughout the summer as the Islanders do their best to flirt, date, couple up and try and avoid being ‘dumped’ from the iconic Mallorcan villa.

With new arrivals, heads may turn, while others will prove their true feelings, all narrated by the inimitable voice of Love Island, Iain Stirling.

More texts, fire pit gatherings and challenges await the lovestruck Islanders, meaning there’ll be plenty for them to dish the dirt on in the Beach Hut.Love Island was the most watched show on any digital channel in 2020 and as it returns there’ll be lots of twists and turns along the way, with shock recouplings, unexpected splits and dramatic exits.

At the end of it all a pairing are voted 2021 Love Island winners.

I was always the same with Big Brother too, it's weird when they're all strangers and we don't know them :worry:. Then by the end they're such familiar faces. It is quite weird (reality telly in general), when you think about it.

I think the main problem is that none of them seem to be very interested in each other which kind of... dampens the purpose of the show...

I recommend Too Hot To Handle season 2 on Netflix. Much shorter series obviously but 10x better than Love Island so far. Love Island could have done with having some of that cast.

Ok so I’ve finally caught up so here are my thoughts…

The dumping caught me a bit off guard tbh but I’m genuinely not bothered that Shannon has gone. It’s a shame cos she didn’t really get much of chance in there but to me she seemed a bit too disinterested in everyone and she kinda came across as a bit dull imo.

I must be in the small minority of people that actually like Chloe :laugh:. She’s actually made a bit of an impact since she entered the villa and idk why but I just find her amusing to watch.

Liberty and Jake seem like a really good couple and I really like them both but I do get the impression that Liberty is more into Jake than he is into her. I dunno I get the vibe that if a couple new girls entered the villa and showed an interest in him, he might be swayed.

Aaron, Hugo and Sharon seem like really nice people but they haven’t made that much of an impact yet and are just coming across as dull, they’re just sort of in the background so I hope we’ll see a bit more of them soon.

Kaz and Toby had a good date but he gives of ‘player’ vibes so I’m not buying their relationship at the minute.

Brad and Faye is a bit of a tricky one. I like Brad he seems like a really nice guy but he was a bit muggy towards Faye when he picked to kiss her in that game as the islander he least fancies. I’d get why Faye would be upset by that. At the same time tho, Faye does come across as really salty and she does this weird thing with her eyes like she opens them really wide when people are talking to her it reminds me of Joey from friends when he does that weird eye contact thing :laugh:

Yes, I agree. With Brad I think he's put off by Faye because she's too much for him. A personality clash, as well as looks wise she's not his type.

I feel like Brad took the "kiss the one you fancy most then the one you fancy least" thing a bit too literally... I also think it was more "most interested in vs least interested in" rather than attraction.

If he'd had his wits about him, he would have kissed the one he likes and then gone and given one of the other boys a peck as a joke. It didn't specify that it had to be the girls! Easy way out of that situation.

Yes I wasnt drawn to her much but its early days...but I think she would have been entertaining. I kind of feel for her because she was only there for 3 days and didnt get the usual chance of being able to find herself a new partner...

I think with the situation tonight, the 2 new lads who have an opportunity to date any of the girls, if it happened to turn out that one of them is Liberty then I could imagine she would be a bit more reserved with them since she’s quite smitten with Jake. I think if the situation was reversed and it was Jake going on a date with 2 new girls, I think he would be more open to get to know them.

It’s a shame about Shannon because she hasn’t really been given much of a chance but in all honestly I’m not too fussed that she’s gone.

tbh the whole promo for LI is deceiving, the whole nice villa, summer sun, BB style house look

but i can imagine this show and especially for a influencer can be quite boring, since these sort of people normally are on social media 24/7 also for their work promoting for the specific brands they signed with, so basically doing nothing in a villa, and also being coupled with one of the dullest boys for sure was quite a putoff as well, and maybe she didn't split from her boyfriend maybe that is true, and maybe that is why producers decided to dump her as well + something needed to boost interest seems shallow to target the bookies favourite but LI production comes across to me as shallow a lot

but if she does return in casa amor twist, would love that as i like her a lot

as for Shannon, maybe she was in the wrong reality show


i can see her being more the type for BB or The Circle, especially the latter since i myself think looks are very deceiving at this one, and i do not buy the ''fake tabloid story about her 8 times sex a day'' at all either, that was more like done to hype her up pre-show, gossip tabloids do this sort of thing usually

Last night was an alright episode. But I think there is a very strange atmosphere around the whole thing this time

I can't believe producers are making a massive fuss on social media telling people to remember to be kind when they aired what Chloe said about sleeping with a married man knowingly. Also giving them a dare to kiss who they think is the least attractive. Also these girls are allowed to say whatever they want about men being the c word and pieces of meat yet it would be double standards if it was the other way around.

All of these islanders are getting a hard time as people think they are a lot less attractive then other years too. I'm basing it on personalities to not be shallow and a lot of then are seeming to get settled now and finding their feet. I think having to quarantine 2 weeks before probably put them in a strange position. Makes it even worse that Shannon got sent home like that after quarantining etc. Apparently it's because she didn't follow producers instructions of getting off with people for a game.

I'm starting to wonder if I want to continue watching if there is a lot of manipulation going on. Past islanders have responded to love islands post saying the after care is bad too.

Ok but there's a difference between these things and death threats. They maybe perhaps a little derogatory, but at the end of the day that's all they are, they're not criminal in the same way that death threats are, plus the people that are posting these comments have agency of their own on social media, sure the show maybe airing somewhat controversial scenes and it would be somewhat weird not to expect some sort of criticism, but at the end of the day there's a limit and it's not the show's fault if these people posting can't control themselves.

For me it’s not as good as previous years; mainly because no one seems genuinely interested in any one (apart from one girl, Liberty), everyone doesn’t like ANYONE, so there’s no grafting or trying to steal someone’s partner which always makes for good tv :laugh:, it’s mainly all friendships with no one fancying anyone in the villa..

I am hoping these two new girls entering will cause a bit of a rift/drama in the group, but for me it’s having a slow start.

Compared to last year with Lucie/Tommy/Joe, Molly/Lucie/Tommy and Maura entering causing a rift with Tommy/Molly, as well as all the girls drama with Lucie, a lot more had happened in the first 10 days… Maybe one of these girls will cause a bit of drama

I just realized a new season started and power watched all 11 episodes to get caught up.

I feel bad no one picked hugo but I also get all the girls being nervous that if a recoupling cones up it could be two of them out. I get the pressure they must of been feeling to make sure a guy liked them enough to pick them.

That being said I think it's ironic that it looks like it's gonna end up being hugo who picks who is saved of whichever 2 girls find themselves on the outside looking in. They are gonna have to suck up to him after making him feel mugged off.

It was a public vote - quite often people on Twitter etc are vocal about contestants but don't vote. Can't blame production for that.

The contestants are also well aware of the process of the game and know what they are signing up for.

Although for what its worth, I don't think Brad is quite innocent either and will be able to handle it.

Well we can only judge things of the ‘edits’ and time will tell what kind of guy he is ..

Ultimately the production team are driving this program and decide who stays , who goes etc .

The votes are simply a money making tool from what I can see.

I have to say I do agree with TS....Although I have no reason to dislike him lets not forget this is a good looking guy....and he knows he is. When Rachel came in his reaction was like his dream girl had walked in and he pretty much told her so. She saved him and the next morning it was abundantly clear he wasnt interested by telling her to pursue other men. Then Lucinda walks in and he reacts the same as he did to Rachel...although I do think she is more his type.
He is also someone who clearly loves the topic of conversation to be about him...I really cannot see him ready to give up his position in the villa and I think she will be happy to stay in there without him because I think she is playing him a bit...

So its going to be interested to see how this pans out...

There was a conversation last week where Hugo casually mentioned that he wanted to talk to someone (either Rachel or Lucinda, I can’t remember, whoever Brad was pursuing at the time) and get to know them, and Brad smirked/practically laughed at him and said “I dinnae think so mate” or something along those lines - anyway, the clear suggestion was a mocking “Why would she be interested in you if I’m here lol”. It was passed off as “banter” but that is exactly the sort of guy Brad is.

Also not sure how you can deny that he flat out lied about being interested in Rachel’s “dark features” and strung her along only to ditch her for the first blonde that wandered into his field of view. Yes it was her pick, and yes he had to play the game to an extent to stay, but he went low.
