In typical Farage stye it's all oratory and parlour tricks - they have no realistic route to power, so they can promise the earth, doesn't matter what's pragmatically deliverable. "If we got in we'd make it £1 a pint and a free curry at the end of the night in every pub".

Every party has to start somewhere to just dismiss them because they are not the same level as the big 2 is silly.

A press conference laying out policy is not a parlour game its what every party does

Meh, I don't think these are mutually exclusive to be fair. Labour ain't going to delivery 90% of what they're promising either and the Tories sure as **** aren't actually going to implement mandatory national service. Silly baubles to entice silly people.

Richard Tice: We need an employer immigration tax

Richard Tice told a press conference: “Our economy has a deadly, deadly addiction, that’s the hard truth. It’s the drug of cheap overseas labour. And that drug is being pushed on every street corner by the Labour Party and by the Tories.

“They believe that this drug, this addiction, is good for the British economy. Let me tell you it’s not. And what we need is a cure for this addiction, and the cure is an employer immigration tax. That is the cure to this addiction.

“Smart immigration, highly-qualified, highly-skilled, can be a great thing. But there’s a price to it, there’s a cost to it, and at the moment there’s no cost to business for employing cheap, low-skilled overseas labour.

“There’s no cost for trading, there’s no cost for infrastructure, there’s no cost for housing, there’s no cost for health, there’s no cost for transport. And the list goes on. So they’re getting away without paying for overseas labour. That cost is borne by the British taxpayer. And the truth that no other main party will tell you is that is simply unfair.”

Tice: Ordinary Britons sick of identity politics

Richard Tice said “the vast majority of ordinary, decent British workers are sick of pathetic identity politics that is designed purely to suppress debate and discussion”.

“What we want to talk about in Reform UK, and what I want to talk about, is how we get this country growing again, and how we can help young people.”

He called Labour and the Conservatives “two sides of the same socialist coin”.

Farage: This is a bold, innovative policy

Nigel Farage hailed a “bold, innovative policy”, adding: “I can hear the multinationals wailing already because you’re quite right, we have become addicted to cheap foreign labour.”

Mr Farage said legal migration was the “really big elephant in the room” amid an understandable focus on the Channel crisis.

“I really do believe this should be the immigration voters. You ask voters, what are their priorities? The subject of immigration has gone from fifth a few months ago to second or third depending on which pollster you look at.

“So what are the big priorities of the electorate? Well, cost of living clearly is one of them. What greater cost of living is there for the average family, for ordinary folk, in this country than the cost of either renting a property or the cost of buying a property? It is the biggest capital outlay that people face.

“We need to build one new property every two minutes just to accommodate current levels of net migration.”

Farage: We might just surprise everybody

Nigel Farage told the Reform press conference: “We are not as a party, and no party has ever been part of, anti-immigration. We understand that high-skilled migration into Britain can lead to economic benefits.

“But we are totally opposed to what has happened over the course of the last 25 years. We are confident that a clear majority of the British public feel exactly the same way we do on this issue. We are certain that they have never, ever been asked properly at an election that this is what they want.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/dam/politics/2024/05/30/TELEMMGLPICT000379892922_17170684005590_trans_NvBQ zQNjv4Bq-8h3Bru9lT0-jh5CdEyqLaaWubKk5z9KiSss2dm9Lkk.jpeg?imwidth=560

“And who knows. If people start to understand what Reform UK is all about, and let’s face it, we’re a very new party, [and that] we want to stand up for ordinary British folk, then we might just surprise everybody in the course of the next five weeks.”

Crimson Dynamo

Farage: Reform voters are scared to admit their support

Nigel Farage said a “growing number” of young British Muslims were being attracted to extremism.

“I raise that not because I want to see division, that division is being felt I think with the Jewish community in our country already.

“I raise that because I think we ought to have a debate about it. But, you know, of course I get called all the names under the sun for daring to raise the issue. That’s why when pollsters or anybody else ask people whether they support Reform, they’re shy about it. They’re shy of getting abuse.”

I don't think it's untrue that the UK economy has become WOEFULLY (and shamefully) dependent on cheap labour from people coming into the UK to work, often at effectively way below minimum wage ("technically" making full time minimum wage, but in reality working a 60h to 80h week thus earning 50-75% of minimum wage per hour worked).

However the solution to this is in tackling the "gig economy" - not "stopping the boats". The solutions are much more complex but they're boiled down to daft, unreaslistic, unworkable simplicities like physically stopping people.

Stop the ability for people to effectively be working in the UK as indentured servants on £5 an hour. Stop the huge multinational companies that are making this a thing.

Reform takes lead in UK’s first ‘TikTok election’

In what’s being called the UK’s first TikTok election, readers may be surprised
to find out who’s winning the battle for followers.

On the youngest mainstream social media platform, Reform UK - whose vote
trends towards the elderly - has the most followers: 125,500, just ahead of
Labour on 108,500, the BBC reported.

It comes as the party today unveiled a ‘battle bus’ of its own. Speaking at the
launch event, Nigel Farage, the party’s honorary president, said he was
“optimistic” that Reform could pick up “a good number of seats” come
election day.

“We just need a couple more percentage point,” he said. “If we could get to
that, then we could win a good number of seats. I feel there’s some
momentum with us.”

Reform is also leading the way on Facebook, thought to be used by older
voters, despite spending nothing on ads, according to the Times.

“In the first week of the campaign the Tories spent almost £200,000 on
Facebook ads, and Labour more than half a million.

However, of the 52 most liked posts on Facebook by political parties since the
election was called, 32 were posted by Reform.

He added: “So our aim in this election is to get many many millions of votes. And I’m talking far more votes than you get got back in 2015 when we when we got 4 million votes. We’re going to get many, many, many more votes than that.

“So the really big message here is what I’m really calling for and what I intend to lead is a political revolt. Yes, a revolt, a turning of our backs on the political status quo. It doesn’t work.

“Nothing in this country works anymore. The health service doesn’t work. The roads don’t work. None of our public services are up to scratch. We are in decline. This will only be turned around with boldness”

How likely is Nigel Farage to win in Clacton?

The constituency of Clacton in Essex was the first to elect a UKIP MP, and will now have the chance to elect the party’s former leader, who is now the head of Reform UK.

The former Tory MP Douglas Carswell defected to join UKIP and then won the by-election there in 2014.

The seat has been held by the Tories since 2017 and has a Conservative majority of 24,702.

A poll of the constituency by Survation earlier this year found that if Nigel Farage were running for Reform, the party would beat the Tories.

It's an odd one. Farage, if you can say anything for him, is at the very least politically savvy so he does understand fine well that the effect of making Reform more popular is essentially further erosion of Tory seats and, as the papers say, potentially even more Lab and LibDem seats.

He simply must want the Tories to be wiped out.

I guess the reason for that might be quiet obvious - if a massive coup successfully plays out and theres an opposition vacuum...

That was my thought exactly MTVN - I reckon he's playing the long game to stage a coup of the opposition before 2029, and position himself for Prime Minister in 10 years time.

You're saying that citizen journalism is important because the MSM sometimes (often, I would say) twists a narrative to fit an agenda. Obviously independent "journalists" do that too - but I wonder why you'd quote/repost MSM material as "proof" that the socially reported narrative is false if you also think that. (e.g. I'm specifically thinking of the IDF bombing "maps" posted by the MSM that you used as evidence that refugee camp bombing was a lie).

Why was the MSM reliable in that case, if they're not reliable in all cases?

No I meant the MSM is not showing it as they had a "problem with the feed" :suspect:

so thankfully it was broadcast by non MSM sources

As for the IDF stuff they show maps, and their own pics and evidence - I doubt there is any other organisation in the known world that undergoes the scrutiny they get so and its direct from Israel - no one else is batting for them or has that degree of evidence so its an important source - make of it as you will but to ignore it would be futile.

It might be the only source, I'd argue against it being an important source though.

When someone is accused of something, the person being accused saying "Umm no I did not actually thanks very much" is not a reliable information source :umm2:.

Although I suppose it's at least an internally consistent stance since you also thought "Brad says he didn't do abuse" was irrefutable proof as well .

Sorry I didn't realise that underneath the banana milkshake, the cup was full of acid and knives. That changes everything.

They probably will consider it assault, she may or may not be prosecuted, if she is it's political posturing because most people would in fact not be prosecuted for throwing a milkshake - it would be considered a waste of time.

However, an attempt to compare it to an acid attack or stabbing is a bit silly.

And the picture is funny :worry:. You don't get to police humour I'm afraid. He made his silly big rousing speech and would have been feeling all important and special and then he got a banana milkshake RIGHT in the pus.

You don't have to condone something or think that it's good that it was allowed to happen to find a picture of Nigel Farage getting dashed in the face with banana milkshake funny.

You can find slapstick comedy funny without thinking it would be a good idea to go out and start tripping people in the street.

If he'd just been joking about a milkshake being thrown that would be one thing, but we all know that this actually was an assault, and not funny. Because it COULD have been acid. I didn't see it before and stupidly made a joke, but LT has convinced me - it's not funny at all, because it's not about milkshake. It's about acid, knife crime and immigration. It's serious. However this could have been really bad, thinking of whatever may have been thrown there other than a milkshake.

It's really frightening what people in politics now have to look out for.
Fearing possible injury to serious injury or even worse.

Having a milkshake thrown is not an attack, it's an inconvenience. I don't support this as a norm, but I remember Jeremy being punched, and a member of the public being arrested for his intention to kill him, just because he wanted to end homelessness and make the rich pay more in tax.

Well considering no charges were brought, he would not have been in court, so did not walk free from one. Therefore he committed no crime, her however did. You called it out for being staged cause of farage bracing for impact. Completely forgetting the speed our facial expressions reacts to the slightest thing coming at its eyes. I refuse to believe that a man as worldly as yourself believes that a statement like "if he wasn't charged and didn't go to court then no crime was committed" isn't utter garbage. Guilty men go free all the time. Most crime never even results in an arrest. Statistical fact. I'm sure you know that.

But what we can see is that the law is light on grown blokes assaulting members of healthcare staff, while it comes down like a tonne of bricks on young girls throwing beverages at farageses.
