Thanks for reminding us. I'd disagree. When a team loses one match in a calendar year thats hardly the wheel falling off. Anyway, it's looks like its been avenged today.
I think people are getting a bit carried away with Villa. Their league campaign will be affected by the Champions league. Arteta got to the 1/4s of the champions league and came 2nd on the last day of the season last year but people think Emery is a better manager. :conf: LEts see if Emery can go that far in the champions league and be nailed on top four and actually fighting for the title. I dont think he can.
i think villa will struggle with their additional CL commitments, look what happened to newcastle. I cant see past a top 3 of city, arsenal and liverpool in any order

New manager whos style is completely different to Klopp. Klopp is a put an arm round kind of manager and Slot most definitely isnt. Also TAA, VVD and Salah's contract are up next year and I see all three of them leaving to either Saudi or to a European giant. All three of them must know its gonna be one hell of a slog for them to reach those height again at Liverpool, Bayern maybe but I cant see Liverpool being as good as they have been recently.

The Rice incident yesterday was more terrible refereeing. The ball wasnt stationary show dont get the argument that Rice was preventing a restart. That ref always does something crazy when he refs arsenal. I'm not so bothered cuz w dont get too many sending offs a season so I'm glad this is happening now and not in Marsh or April next year.
If the ref hadnt sent Rice off today we'[d be saying - Rice is a luck boy to get away with that - next talking point please. It would have been given a fraction of the air time that its being give but once again a ref has decided to influence the game with a crazy decision.

Ten Hags position is untenable. He refuses to tweak his system, and the players dont have the ability to implement what he wants. The system is also easy for the opposition to break apart, so it's never going to work. The squad is now TH players, there are no excuses left. He has to go, and it's better if its sooner rather than later

:joker:
There does seem to be a problem with the current crop of top managers in that they seem incapable of tweaking tactics to suit who they are playing against. It all seems like basic stuff to me

Its the same as sticking to playing out from the back after you have just had 3 big chances against you and one goal all from not being able too
Just get the goalie to hoof it into their half but no they all want be Pep but with non-Man City players

I agree and disagree about managers not being more adaptable. Ange is a good example. His methods work. He's won at almost every club he's managed so his methods get results. The problem is its gonna take too long to get the squad be his squad and thats where Mr Levy comes in. Levy has backed the project thus far but I cant ever see him paying 80 million plus for a player. He's wants 4 or 5 players for that much.
Last year Ange bought Mr Levy a bit of time after the dour anti football of Mourinho and Conte but we can see the Spurs fans are a bit impatient. The worse thing they can do is sack Ange cuz IMO he's the best manager they've had since Poch
Spurs losing. And Liverpool losing this weekend is great for Chelsea's CL hopes. Villa and Newcastle winning was annoying though.
Top 2 will be City and Arsenal, i think 3rd and 4th has about 4 or 5 teams in with a shout this season. Chelsea need CL next season

Southgate is the better Manager so why not?
Regardless of that though, teams need to stop trying to copy Pep's tactics, most of these other Managers and teams suck at attempting it, and it just plays into Man City's hands in terms of winning trophies.
Plus it does create boring Football matches.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard will be out for "a while" with "quite significant" ligament damage, says manager Mikel Arteta.
A distraught Odegaard needed help leaving the pitch and had to be substituted after turning his ankle during the second half of Norway's Nations League win over Austria in Oslo earlier this month.
why isnt the Man City court case playing out in public?
Dunno what it is but i can't remember a season where there is just literally no hype, and very little interest all round. I think i've watched 2 games so far this season. The new CL format is rubbish too.

Champions league formant is horrendous. YEs, we get big clubs playing against each other but its gonna be a lot of cagey games if a big club do dominate who is gonna remember the Bayern game come the final in May.
I say, Arsenal qualify for the knockouts, hopefully, then throw it in the bin and concentrate on domestic competitions. Hopefully

Yeah the new format has put me right off. As for the PL, i hope Arsenal win it, and i never thought i'd ever say that, but man im just so incredibly bored with City's dominance now.
Probably bias, but when Chelsea "brought the league" they just didn't feel as plastic and soulless a club like City do. Can't quite put my finger on it. City do play some nice football, but i never care about watching them now. I suppose Chelsea were a really awful team to watch under Mourinho at times, going 1 or 2 up and playing keep ball possession football. But man, City just bore me to tears now.
Crazy to think Ipswich have not won a game, scored only 3 goals, and yet are a still above the relegation zone.
Also, a more ruthless team would have put 8 past West Ham today. Chelsea wont get many more easier games than that this season. West Ham were awful

Also, I think Arsenal would have won if it wasn't for the refs influence. SO definitely an improvement.
we all know that playing against 10 men can be very difficult, so suggesting city should have scored 3 or 4 is unrealistic.
City have navigated their biggest rival and are still top of the league with a couple of points advantage. I would say that represents a good days work
Pep is developing a siege mentality with the world is out to get us narrative, and its worked well for the likes of Fergie in the past

For sure but against City whenever they give you an inch you have to take a mile. Feel like that equaliser will be the difference between City and Arsenal winning the league this season
Nice to have a fierce rivalry again at the top of the league though, these two teams will really come to dislike each other over the next couple of years I think

AS for playing against ten is hard, you're forgetting that City are supposed to be the best in the Premier league and Europe.
Arsenal have had three of their most difficult away fixtures and this time next week we will still be in September. Nothing is ever decided in September. To come away with two wins and a draw, with ten men, is as admirable as any siege mentality you think Man City have.
City have always ground out results over a season, they have had plenty mediocre games along the way. Suggesting that a draw was a wonderful result for Arsenal, just shows how inferior Arsenal actually believe they are

To get a point against the treble winners from two years ago is a very good result. Particularly when you see the circumstances of the game
Do you think Arsenal would have taken a point with 11 men? I dont.
Two years ago after the 4-1 so many were saying
"Arsenal are too open"
"Arsenal make too many mistakes."
"Arsenal dont have a plan B" " You cant win the league like that"
All thats changed is we are now much better defensively and a genuine threat from set pieces those same people are saying "Arsenal are too boring and need to go for it more". Almost all those players who were too open are still there. The improvement of the squad is visible for all to see.#
I disagree that Arsenal think they are way off City. I dont think so but City are very difficult to beat. You need 90 points to beat them. What I like is that Arsenal are happy to pull the plug in games like this and not keep attacking and lose 4-1 like we did two years ago

this weekends opponent for West Ham is a important one, against a team around a similar place as theirs, just 2 places above them, so i expect them to fight for these crucial points to get out of that right side of the table zone
as for everything below West Ham
Leicester are ****** this weekend away vs Arsenal
Crystal Palace - Everton both seem pretty **** so i can't see either win there
Ipswich are up against Villa in top form (even though at home, they are chanceless)
Wolves imo chanceless at home vs Liverpool
Bournemouth and Southampton could go either way but i'd more give Bournemouth the edge there, but could also easily be a boring draw

Yeah im really liking this Chelsea side and playing style so far. Jackson is really starting to become a complete player. I was critical of him before, saying he'll never amount to much, but he's proving me wrong. It's great stuff.
