Really?? ,I thought he'd be popular...so that's surprising :conf: . He was giving disco energy on Saturday, routine looked fun.
For some reason the Strictly audience just don't seem to have taken to Shayne, JB, or Tasha.
They were all in the bottom five of Entertainment Weekly's poll this week, along with Jamie and Nick.
And Sam for some reason weren't in the top 5.:joker:
Nicky91
15-10-2024, 06:56 AM
maybe Shayne ended up forgotten due to going first?
Tom Dean suffered a similar fate (also going first with a Cha Cha)
so we'll see whenever a Jamie or JB has to open the show at some point, if they too will hit the dance off then?

+ we know there likely have been many votes coming in for those ''robbed of a higher score'' couples, like Sarah & Vito, could actually see them near the top of the votes this week
Paul had the bounce back vote (must've also been quite some votes otherwise he would've still been in a bit of trouble)
Punam deffo benefitted from the ''bottom of the leaderboard, bad judges criticism'' sympathy votes (that has been a case in many of the previous years whoever ends up bottom, with bad scores, equals in a good amount of votes)

completely different version to strictly or DWTS honestly
they even got a 91 yr old competing on that show
good on Gio for staying active as a dancer
Graz on the other hand is completely done i think especially with video evidence against him

I do like Nick really, he was a fun host on Perfection.I
He just needs to be careful at 401 years of age.

JB & Amy: superb Jive! finalist potential here, perfectly in sync with each other, great kicks and flicks as well 9
Punam & Gorka: it more looked like a slow waltz instead of a viennese waltz, too short movements with the footwork where you need wide movements which helps you with the many turns, this was bad 2
Jamie & Michelle: Jamie has arrived to the competition! 10
Chris & Dianne: emotional, well danced waltz, super solid footwork 9
Tasha & Aljaz: nice tango, but it needed more attack i agree Craig 8
Paul & Karen: good effort at a difficult dance what the samba is for a non dancer, good strong effort at those botafogo's, just wanted to see slightly more hip action, more movement across the floor but well done mate 6
Sam & Nikita: dance disaster, Sam choosing the wrong song LOL, this was atrocious technique, many mistakes and a lot of gapping 1
Pete & Jowita: the 8 hip action was the only good bit unfortunately, they should've been DQ'd honestly with 3 illegal lifts, also one at the end pose Craig, a shame because this song is perfect for the rumba, but this was bad 1
Sarah & Vito: funny yet danced excellently, wow slay slay slay 10
Shayne & Nancy: Dull Dull Dull 5
Wynne & Katya: Mark Benton 2.0 he truly is YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSS the perfect combo of quality dance and comedy entertainment, where have you been! super iconic 10
TeamMoJo: Dance of the Night, Dance of the Decade, Best Dance in the Universe, this reminded me of a olympic games opening ceremony performance, thank you for that you QUEEN, MoJo are the best Olé Olé 11

how can you like someone as lazy as Punam, not improving back to back now
she was insecure in her jive, stayed like that this week in the VW
while Paul is showing more commitment at giving it a good go in terms of more technical skill instead of just doing something
Nicky91
20-10-2024, 07:35 AM
glad my dance radar is more or less correct this year again
i had said it from launch show that Montell is gonna do great + she'll also likely have no negative backlash unlike Fleur East, Alexandra Burke had
i can really see her being this years dark horse

Easy to like Punam because she IS likeable and I enjoyed her Viennese waltz.
Now you don't, so even if she was superb you'd still just more insult her.
Paul was really poor, again that's my view.
Plus if there's any justice in Strictly this series then he should be going out
How he's still there is surprising.
I don't dislike him but his progress has been so much slower.

Paul was miles better than Greg Wise (Karen's partner few years ago) on this exact dance
maybe lesser covering of the floor, but at least he had more recognizable samba content, and lesser awkward moves
yes his progress is slower than most others, but i personally find not weaker than Punam or on some perspectives also not weaker than Pete

We watch her for the magic that she gives off onstage, and moves that we'll never see on Strictly again.:flutter:

Wynne will last a while, similar exit like Mark Benton i think
but i think our final 4 will be
Chris & Dianne
TeamMoJo
Tasha & Aljaz
and then its a fight for the 4th ticket between Jamie & Michelle, Shayne & Nancy, JB & Amy
this week halloween week, always a week where shock exits can happen between two strong couples
--
Paul did his best in the dance off last nights result show, shame his timing was off again, otherwise he could've won against JB (who made too many mistakes compared to on saturday night first time around)

The day before the Show
the Daily Mail said he would go.
The BBC Producers
would have told them to give a high scores
I mean no way would one of them
ever give him a high score like that

and another top performance by Liverpool's superstar comedian  only the good come from Liverpool honestly, Abbey Clancy, and now Chris McCausland
and tbh i always saw winner potential in Abbey as well and look how i was proven right ;) i even dropped to my knees, back then when she won
i also have seen winner potential in Chris since the launch show group dance actually

That was my exact issue with the dance.
Shayne for half of the dance is just waving a stick around, imo he should be bottom of the leaderboard because there was hardly any dance content in his routine.
Well I agree with you personally, for someone that doesn't like ballroom Jamie did an incredible job.

Sam and Nikita were criminally underscored. Wynne as usual was overscored.
Nicky91
27-10-2024, 07:04 AM
Chris & Dianne: criminally underscored, of course a zombie character lacks fluidity, those judges really need to watch the walking dead some more  some excellent botafogo's, volta's in there, and those disco moves were on point as well 9
Pete & Jowita: his timing was indeed very much off, however the characters were played perfectly and the dancing wasn't too bad either 7
TeamMoJo: how brave of our queen to be dancing those cuban breaks in front of the judges desk, absolutely exposed, playing with the judges i always like in these cha cha's, we gotta love that bit of sass, well done queen 10
Punam & Gorka: once again, another mediocre performance danced inward instead of towards the audience, which we know she is capable of in her bhangra, disappointing 3
Wynne & Katya: it lacked some hip action okay, but damn how light on his feet he is, and those lifts, well this was a clever typical Katya signature choreography, top notch entertainer, but would've liked more hip action 8
JB & Amy: there was mostly focus on technique here than playing the character, the part where he did play the scarecrow character was very lame, lacklustre, shame shame on Amy, she keeps letting her partners down 5
Tasha & Aljaz: i'm speechless, wow 10
Shayne & Nancy: i disagree with Shirley, there was a lot of leading by Shayne actually, he was the ''maestro'' with his conductor stick, and Nancy had to follow his directions, i agree with Craig, very refreshing take on the paso doble, also its not traditional music but classical music is my next favourite music for this dance now 9
Jamie & Michelle: my fave bits were when they lifted each other, Michelle is quite strong, damn gurl! fabulous performance 10
Sarah & Vito: dracula themed, well more like Vito channeled his inner Stephen Moyer aka Bill Compton from True Blood there, and Sarah didn't make a too bad take on Sookie either, chemistry was off the charts, the lift in the beginning didn't go perfectly but was extremely difficult so well done for trying your best there, but this was a slick, solid argentine tango, Spookilicious 11
Sam & Nikita: underwhelming i'm afraid, those kicks and flicks were good yes, but everything was dull and uninspiring, dancing by numbers 2

JB & Lauren will also be a good pairing i think, i mean Lauren did amazing with Krishnan last year (someone lesser capable dance potential wise than JB even)
hoping Lauren can also step things up in terms of more ambitious routines, since Amy kinda plateau'd with him, and JB has so much potential to be so much better

having enormous/gigantic expectations when it comes to Another One Bites the Dust (but for a different dance LOL)
i mean Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht danced a masterpiece of a paso to that on the german version (one week before the big disaster happened, when he broke his knee :bawling: and he required immediate surgery, a huge shame since he could've won if not for that)

Moaning Shirley always finds criticism
Shirley always attacks the women when they make mistakes.
And goes in extra hard if they're attractive, just like Tasha faced that one week too.
And if people think that I'm wrong, just compare her critique of Sam to Pete and Wynne.
And I say this as someone that actually doesn't mind either Pete (in fact I like Pete) or Wynne, but Shirley does have a very clear bias towards the male celebrities I feel.
And switching topic slightly, I hope that Amy is okay as she still didn't look 100% fit tonight.

Pete & Jowita: just as i thought, that song has such an unworkable beat for a dance like salsa, such a recognizable paso doble beat honestly, way too stiff movements, no hip action in places whatsoever, also quite stilted, too much posing going on, but he played the part well for a non-actor 3
Wynne & Katya: good execution of basic rumba content, also i disagree with Craig, the theatrical, dramatic element suited the dance well and it also was necessary considering Miss Bassey is a exceptional over the top performer herself, and that operatic bit at the end, wow 10
Sam & Nikita: very nice viennese waltz, strong lifts, an improvement! 8
Chris & Dianne: **** Off to those judges, this was awesome, not a paso/tango fusion at all for me, more like a tango with a subtle paso flavour here and there, iconic 9
Sarah & Vito: such flexible and fast movement for a 55 yr old! wouldn't say her best performance, but this was great 9
JB & Lauren: i agree with Craig, twice not in sync with each other, and in streetdance that is one of the basic techniques, with all the popping, locking content, but apart from that, this was solid 9
TeamMoJo: i had a tear, i'm speechless 10
Jamie & Michelle: an improvement compared to his salsa, i also thought he played the part as George well, nothing too sexy as George also wasn't too sexy especially in the beginning of his career, this was good, strong partnership 8
Tasha & Aljaz: thank you Tash, for showing me why i love contemporary dances so damn much, A-MA-ZING 10
Shayne & Nancy: great enjoyable beatles showstopper, whats not to like 8

clever of Jowita letting him do that as a intro
same goes for Katya letting Wynne showcase his operatic skills (also i didn't know Wynne had performed with Shirley Bassey, very cool to know :flutter:)
so Shirley Bassey is the Queen of Wales, where Tom Jones is the King of Wales then  music royalty for the welsh

Pete is on way overdue borrowed time now
as for Wynne, he danced a good rumba though, as for the operatic singing ending, well we're at that stage where most couples need to do something extra to give that additional oomph or wow factor
Sam played things way too safe, she could've done much more in terms of playing Taylor, for example a beginning with a guitar prop or something similar choreographed to something from Eras Tour, recreating the love story music video was way too basic, really shame on Nikita for not doing enough
MoJo cleverly used the high note in IWALY to their advantage for a fast spinning moment as well as Montell did great for a non-actress slaying the part of Whitney so incredibly well, i mean big boots to fill since everyone also knows the bodyguard musical versions across the world by now
JB needs to stick with Lauren hopefully, finally he ain't mediocre anymore

It really is absolutely ridiculous on Strictly that the dance that puts you in the bottom 2 is the dance you are FORCED to do again.
A routine the judges have already commented on and voted on.
Then get to choose again.
Stark raving bonkers.
Even on Dancing on Ice with ice skates, the skate off is done to a different routine.
Stop this of the BBC too misleading viewers that the results show is done on Sunday.
Ridiculous.
On Saturday a neighbour of mine recorded Strictly then on Sunday played it back with timing of the routines and dances.
Less than 40 minutes of a 110 minutes show was actually dancing.
All the rest the tedious VTs and the endless chatter and nonsense from the judges.
They could do the lot, routines, guests, voting and results plus the dance off in that over an hour where it's more like the Strictly Judges show.

Lol. Senseless hate? Compared with what you've said about Pete and Jowita (disgusting) calling Wynne a cheat is very mild. I do stand by my words that it's cheating to enhance his performance and scores by singing at the end of the performance to compensate for the crap dancing. The judges even included the singing in their comments and reasons for the high scores. Makes a laughing stock of the show. They are supposed to judge on dancing. The lack of dancing I should say really. He mainly just stood there while Katya danced around him. He's been babysat on route to the final by the biased judges. He should not still be there based on dancing ability. I don't see how anyone can argue otherwise. He is crap.

the judges also talked about his dancing though?
it was mainly Motsi who included the singing in her comments
Shirley (The Queen of Rumba) gave him praise for his efforts to the technique and the correct hip rotation
Pete though does the same move in every routine he does so far, same lifts in the salsa this week, as in his american smooth, also i don't judge lifts myself, i judge technical content, and his salsa content was non-existent, no hip action whatsoever, also very stilted whereas in salsa's you need to keep moving throughout the routine
unfair him still being here, and Sam isn't (comparing two novices where Sam has been improving and Pete hasn't)

I've had a conversation with one of Tasha's family members on Facebook, nothing too in-depth, but we had a chat regardless.
I'm gathering that the abuse that she's been receiving in some corners of the Internet has been upsetting her family and Tasha herself.
And obviously it's not nice to see (especially over what's meant to be a fun Show like Strictly) but I did say to them that it's the nature of Reality TV (especially when discussing the Show on the Internet) it's basically never really going to change.
I do personally think that some people could express their dislike of Tasha better, but I ultimately didn't agree (and still don't) agree with Tasha's family member that people shouldn't say anything at all if they've got nothing nice to say, as ultimately like with any other TV Show, people are allowed to say what they don't like about the Show.
And if Tasha is a problem for some of the audience, then I feel that they have a right to say it, even if the people are being twats.

Personally I would advise Tasha (or any of the other contestants) to not read too much about themselves on the Internet if it is going to severely impact their Mental Health.
And I agree with you that she's obviously a good dancer, some people being mean about her on the Internet can't change that.
She also does seem like a nice person, and she's not exactly ugly either, so if anything these really hateful people are probably jealous of all of that about Tasha.

Tasha doesn't deserve hate at all
okay she has past dance experience, but whatever dancing she did (likely commercial stuff and ballet) she still has all the ballroom, latin techniques to learn from scratch, ballet just helps you with posture
i mean Detlef D! Soost has 41 years of Hip Hop experience but he had to start from zero on lets dance, with the latin and ballroom which he also struggled with in early weeks, credit on Ekaterina Leonova for getting 41 yrs of hippy hop out of him and making him an allround dancer, and Mock if u liked Sam for her sexiness, well shame you can't watch the german version, Ekat is pure FILTH with her choreo's

Tasha doesn't deserve hate at all
okay she has past dance experience, but whatever dancing she did (likely commercial stuff and ballet) she still has all the ballroom, latin techniques to learn from scratch, ballet just helps you with posture
i mean Detlef D! which is why i prefer lets dance, no dance offs means those with lowest amount of votes is out each week
although there have been quite some series, where an eliminated couple is reinstated after withdrawal of another couple
Barbara Meier for example, she was originally eliminated in week 4, was reinstated due to Jimi Blue's withdrawal and made the final in 3rd place

Tbf I would treat that similar to American Idol's save system that they used to have back in the day, I actually don't mind that for one contestant.
And I don't mind Strictly having one contestant that's being dragged through despite doing bad in the vote, but three to four (depending on if Montell's bottom two trip was a fluke) contestants being dragged to the end is going to kill any sense of competition.
I hope that Strictly understands that Chris has to face some people who can get some votes.
My preference to leave this week would be Shayne, or JB and Tasha unfortunately as I don't dislike them personally, but I will settle for one of them if I can't get Shayne.
But it'll probably end up being Wynne or Jamie, who have an actual vote with the public.

My thoughts so far....
Tasha. Stunningly beautiful.
Shayne. Very good
Sarah. Smashed it.
Pete. Not very good. The judges overmarked him for his sob story.
JB. Amazing

I'm getting sick to death of two things from this particular series.
1. Trapping popular contestants with the public on the leaderboard with even more popular contestants with the public on the leaderboard. Just to knock them into the bottom two and eliminate them.
2. Can someone honestly pass me the sick bucket? Every time Chris performs we get every single judge say the most saccharin stuff imaginable, it's really beginning to **** me off as he isn't being treated like the other contestants, instead he is being placed on a pedestal above everyone else which is insufferable to watch.
I really don't like modern Strictly tbh, it's pushing me closer to quitting it every single year, and I used to really enjoy the Show years ago.
This series seems to be so disrespectful to the public vote that I'm guessing that the final four will be Chris, Tasha, Shayne, and JB.

Not sure on that last point Mock.
I get the feeling Ms Ballas would throw Shayne out, given the chance, from her comments tonight
It didn't do a lot for me tonight sadly did Strictly, I can see your point about it pushing to be a turn off more.
I do though really blame the judges for that myself.

Tasha overscored again i see
with her nonsense quickstep dance content :idc:
production really stitched up Shayne in the #2 slot after production pet Tasha (who never can do no wrong)
Sarah also overmarked, that performance was more worth 3's at best, boo hoo a special song to her blah blah blah
Jamie overmarked, zero chemistry whatsoever between him and Michelle
JB was the best honestly, Amy being gone and him topping the ******* leaderboard two weeks now, this is the best thing happening to him on this show, Lovely Lauren's impact
Wynne likely is a goner this week i think
Chris and Pete i am not saying anything about, those had free passes into blackpool no matter how they danced, since no one ever leaves on a ''no rules'' couples choice freestyle

Ms Ballas is totally awful.
Shocking result just on her pathetic vote.
No need for a head judge if it's a tie take it back to the public vote.
Any other vote would be better than decided by Ms Ballas

Strictly Come Dancing is back at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom for its dazzling 20th anniversary year, with a guest performance by The Pet Shop Boys. On Saturday night, they will open the show with a medley of some of their greatest hits, with the Strictly professional dancers joining them for a spectacular opening number. Then, on Sunday night’s Results Show, they will perform their brand-new single All The Young Dudes.
The professional dancers’ performance at Blackpool’s prestigious Tower Ballroom will feature a stunning Argentine Tango set in a glamorous 1940s hotel.
Choreographed by Matt Flint, Leandro Palou, and Maria Tsiatsiani, & set to the sultry sounds of Tango Jalousie, the performance promises to immerse the audience in a world of vintage glamour and intense passion, creating a Blackpool moment that will be nothing short of unforgettable.

Chris & Dianne: wow wow wow, once again such a phenomenal technically flawless masterpiece, and a traditional ballroom too, wow wow wow 11
TeamMoJo: very good disco salsa, love the bingo theme as well to go with it, from a olympic athlete to dancing queen, You Slay 10
Sarah & Vito: for such a difficult style of dance, what Fosse style is, an absolutely brilliant performance, wow 10
Wynne & Katya: i enjoyed every second of this performance, so feel good and never thought Carmen would work so well for a charleston despite it being a paso doble song, love the medieval vibes 10
Pete & Jowita: dance disaster, cha cha was non-existent, lots of posing going on, more like a performance you can get away with on week 1, more like one of those lazy cha cha's we see in the american version, letting the female pro dance around you, also nothing sexy about this at all, more like drag act gone wrong 1
JB & Lauren: no gapping check, fast quickstep movement throughout check, lovely charleston bits check, good storytelling check, this was his personal best for me 10
Tasha & Aljaz: i am gonna be controversial, but i disliked the mood for this paso, i felt there was a lack of spanish lines, too much ballet/contemporary, the music was a big no for me, i prefer traditional paso's, or even rock paso's for that matter, this was also more like watching a ballet performance inspired by game of thrones, not your finest hour i'm afraid 5
Jamie & Michelle: too straightened legs unfortunately, but good kicks and flicks, the choreo from las ketchup incorporated into this jive worked quite well, and that opening, super epic, Jamie i am speechless :douf: great job this week Michelle, you queen 9

he was one of those contestants, not super competitive but more in it for the entertainment factor same as the likes of Mark Benton, Jeremy Vine, Dave Myers, Judy Murray, Graeme Swann, Tony Adams, Mike Bushell, Ed Balls
now we're deffo gonna see some shock exits i think, considering Pete is highly popular, same goes for Chris
we need to lose one more female before the final, since we always want 2 females, 2 males in the final, whenever we have 4 couples in the final
who to lose before the final out of JB, Jamie, Pete though, gonna be difficult that one, only one of those 3 can make the final, since Chris is a certain finalist

It was right that Wynne went from those 2.
It must have had Ms Ballas smouldering though when it was thought Pete would be in the bottom 2 being last on the judges leaderboard.
That's who the judges really likely wanted out then save Wynne again.
Well done to the public thwarting that.
I now doubt anyone other than Chris will likely win this series.

he has Jowita which is a massive advantage, she even made Hamza shine
while Chris has Dianne whom tends to mess things up towards the semi final, grand final stage, and after next week they no longer have the ''Dianne's parents coming to Elstree'' storyline

Now on modern Strictly it's what theme am I looking for this year, plus who do I feel sorry for, it's seriously pissing me off with the Show, and I know on Facebook there is a minority of people on there that are finally expressing how I've been feeling about Chris since his very first dance.
We need to seriously have a look at the last few winners of Strictly to notice some of the patterns that have crept into the Show.
Stacey Dooley - "It's Kevin's last year, and he deserves to win a year."
Kelvin - Admittedly he just won because women fancied him, and he was a good dancer tbf. So whilst I was a Karim fan in that particular year, I can't really complain too much with the reasoning for Kelvin's vote.
Bill Bailey - Bill ironically was my favourite in that year because I did like him and his dances, but being fair I have no doubt that some people voted for him for the "feel good factor" of seeing an older guy winning Strictly that weren't as stiff as a cardboard. So he did get the patronizing vote imo.
Rose - The patronizing tone that Rose received in her series was off the chart at the time, I honestly felt like I was one of a few people that was treating her as equal to every other contestant, and would mark her performances based on actual merit.
A really insufferable year because of Rose being on the Show, and it weren't even because of anything that she actually did, but instead the public and the judges inability to treat contestants with disabilities as actual people and not in a positive discriminatory manner.
Chris's journey does remind me so much of Rose, that's why I think that we're going to have the same tragic outcome all over again.
Hamza - It felt to me like people were again patronizing Hamza because he was slightly chubby (with all due respect to Hamza) and again he moved better than most people of his size, again another patronizing reason to support someone.
Ellie - I personally weren't keen on Ellie last year, but tbf she didn't have a sympathy/patronizing vote going on from what I can remember about her journey.
She did have a habit of behaving and talking like a 12 year old though, which I weren't keen on.
And potentially Chris, who on this very thread has had people be "positive" with patronizing comments about how Chris "can move well for a blind guy" and I know that people will either:
1. Deny what I'm saying.
Or 2. Talk about how "well intentioned they are being" which I have no doubt about that particular part, because people on here in general are nice people.
Excluding myself obviously, as I won't arrogantly state myself as a good person ever.

Sarah is such a dark horse , and Vito is one of my favourite pro dancers. His choreography is always amazing .
She's amazing loved that dance could easily win.

I'm voting for Jamie and Michelle. My favourites.
I want them to stay for as long as possible.
I like Jamie and Sarah they'd get my votes.
I thought Jamie's jive was really entertaining.
You're backing a good one Vanessa.

what i would like to see Trio Dances honestly
that is a lot of fun
and for the semi final i'd want not two, but three performances tbh, like in the german version, a longer show
with the Impro Dance Even More Extreme *insert scary dramatic music* which basically is the couples doing a draw with golden balls, whatever you draw you got 2 minutes time to prepare, change outfits think of a simple choreo, another 30 seconds to explain this to his/her celebrity partner
i always LOVE that in the german version, also the way our fabulous hosts Daniel & Victoria hype that in the weeks leading up to the semi
-----
but am already happy with the return of a danceathon, samba is a good choice for this i think

This has been the poorest show yet.
The music mostly dire apart from Stand By Me.
The judges seem to be watching some programme different to me.
Haven't enjoyed this at all tonight unfortunately.

Shirley is a joke. A 9 for Chris and a 7 for Jamie beautiful Foxtrot?
And how is he supposed to go mad with a Foxtrot? :conf:
