Pity Cherry was evicted before Rory he was MUCH more entertaining! He was really good in the silent dancing competition! (Whats that I hear??? Is it the vague sound of spirits from BB7UK????? "I can't my MP3 Player to WOOORRK!")

After eight successful seasons and 1316 episodes, TEN today announced that Big Brother will not be returning in 2009.
The 2008 season finale will air on Monday 21 July.
TEN’s chief programming officer, David Mott, said: “Big Brother is the undisputed grand-daddy of modern, commercial reality television in Australia. Today’s reality dramas have all, on some level, been inspired by Big Brother.
“We are immensely proud of the show and the incredible success it has enjoyed since premiering in 2001.
“We’re ending the season on a high, largely thanks to the talents of Kyle and Jackie O who have presented yet another successful season.”
Mr Mott added that for millions of Big Brother fans who were glued to their screens each day, the show was like catching up with mates: it was entertaining, familiar and sometimes a little unpredictable. For many, it was also highly addictive.
“You just have to read the fan website to see how big and vocal the Big Brother community is,” he said.
Over the years, Big Brother has continued to deliver significant audience and share, especially in TEN’s core demographic, 18-49. The daily, eviction and nomination shows consistently occupied a place in the top programs week after week in 18-49.
Mr Mott acknowledged that the show attracted its fair share of controversy, and often generated robust debate. It instantly became Australia’s most talked about television program.
“Big Brother raised a number of issues which were meaningful and it highlighted some of the very real concerns of young people,” he said.
“The show has taken on topics of race, sex, homosexuality, eating disorders and alcohol abuse, many of which had been handled gingerly, if at all, on TV.”
Big Brother was more than TV. Fans who wanted access to Big Brother, any time anywhere, could do so via their TV, mobile or on the internet. It also provided a multifaceted platform for key sponsors who wanted a “surround-sound” advertising experience.
TEN’s chief executive officer, Grant Blackley, said: “Big Brother has been an important franchise for the network but we are confident this is the right decision at the right time for TEN.
“Importantly, as Big Brother represented up to 120 hours of TV, we now have an opportunity to further diversify our schedule with new, exciting and bold programs for viewers and advertisers.
“We are already in discussions and development with Australian content providers and we have a number of exciting prospects. We expect to announce these programs in the near term.
“We will also rely on our ever-expanding slate of programs from our two prolific US studios - 20th Century Fox and CBS Paramount.”
Mr Blackley thanked the hundreds of advertisers and committed sponsors who have contributed and benefited greatly from their involvement with Big Brother over this long history.
Mr Blackley also praised Endemol Southern Star (ESS) for their professionalism and innovative production which has kept the show fresh and appealing to viewers over the last eight years.
“Their commitment ensured the Big Brother brand made its way into homes across Australia,” he said.
Southern Star Group chief executive, Hugh Marks, said: “To the stars of the show, our housemates, and to the teams of talented and dedicated people who have put this show together every week, you have entertained, enthralled and even educated us. Our Big Brother is a stand-out adaption of this world-wide multimedia phenomenon that will continue for many years to entertain audiences around the world.”
Mr Mott acknowledged the enormous efforts of Big Brother hosts – past and present.
“Kyle and Jackie O have done an outstanding job fronting Big Brother this season. We look forward to seeing Kyle on Australian Idol soon and working with the pair on future projects.
“I’d also like to make special mention of Mike Goldman who has been there from day one with his voicing of every daily show, and over the years has also hosted Friday Night Live and Up Late.
“To Bree Amer, Fitzy, Tony Squires and Rebecca Wilson, thank you for keeping us entertained throughout the series.
“And, of course, a huge thank you to Gretel Killeen for her years of dedication to the show,” he said.
He also paid tribute to the entire production team from ESS and TEN.
“On air, the program ran like a well-oiled machine, yet behind the scenes, the team worked tirelessly 24 hours a day to bring Big Brother to our screens.
“I also want to thank our loyal Big Brother fans for their avid viewing and support throughout the years,” he said.
It is sad

Producers and Ten can say whatever they want, they are still cowards in every way it can be seen.
They didn't even try to give it a chance again after the good series we had this year and the good reaction is received.
Look at BB Germany: Series 6 was a flop but they did such an amazing job in BB7 and BB8 and the ratings were really high. Why ? Because they knew how to redeem the show and made it better.
I am angry at them because it's not fair for us, it's really frustrating to see that they could continue this way, after a great series this year.
Arneldo

But while BB6 Germany was its onlt flop - the past three series of BBAU have not done great. I think it's simple, the aussies have got bored of BBAU. I'm sure it will be back, maybe in a few years time. But I'm certain it will make a return.

True but still - the producers found a new dynamic to the show and gave it a chance. I blame the aussie producers for that.

Nah, I doubt it.
But it will be back next year. Channel 7 is the best bet at the moment, methinks.

I would like Seven to pick it up if another channel were to. I think they would make something of it. It was nice of him to thank Gretel, Bree and Mike and all them. It's so sad. It's the end of an era.
Arneldo

Channel 7 have now said they won't be picking up the show.
Australians may not have seen the last of Big Brother and his housemates.
The controversial reality TV program could find a new home at the Nine Network, which is considering a format revival after it was axed by Network Ten.
After eight years on air, the Ten network pulled the plug on Big Brother on Monday because of dwindling ratings.
Ten said the current series, which ends on July 21, would be the last.
But as devastated fans took to websites to express their disappointment and ponder what went wrong, a source from Nine revealed the network was looking at a possible revival.
The source said Nine was considering the pros and cons, but wanted a very different format.
Foxtel boss Brian Walsh said his organisation had “no interest in an ailing format like Big Brother”, while Seven also said it had no desire to pick up the show.
This year’s Big Brother has been plagued by poor ratings, changed rules, and criticisms of contestants and new hosts, radio shock jocks Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O.
The pair replaced original host Gretel Killeen who was dumped at the end of last year’s series.
Australian production company Endemol Southern Star said it wanted to concentrate on Big Brother 08 before thinking about another series.
“We are not entering into any discussions about the Big Brother format with anyone until we have completed the current series,” an Endemol spokesman told AAP.
MrGaryy
15-07-2008, 01:14 AM
Noo! Nine would't be as good, especially if they aren't going stick with the basic format. If it's not called Big brother I'll be upset. If I wanted to watched strangers living together I could watch any reality show. But BB just has that something special about. It's part of a reailty TV family!
i think the BBUK producers need to have alarm bells ringing in their heads otheriwse we will be losing the show too!
MrGaryy
15-07-2008, 01:42 AM
Yeah but the difference is tho is that BBAU was only signed to a one series contract, BBUK is signed till 2010 and is C4's biggest money earner!

'The Big Sting' was brilliant. A great show and a massive twist that really shook them all up.

Yeah it was great. Trust Ben to go all melodramatic, "This is mental torture, I'm going to need physcological help after this, it shouldn't be allowed!". What did he expect when he signed up for the show!?

I can't believe this series is nearly over :( I'm really gonna miss it. I hope Terri wins and ends Big Brother Australia with a high. Being a vote to evict, rather then a vote to win it's hard to predict.
This is how I'd like it to go;
5th - Rory
4th - Travis
3rd - Ben
2nd - Alice
1st - Terri
However, I think it will go;
5th - Alice
4th - Ben
3rd - Terri
2nd - Travis
1st - Rory
Oh gawd. I'd rather die then have to see a final go that way.
Arneldo

Current bookies odds for Sunday's double:
Double Eviction 20/7
$1.20 Ben
$1.40 Travis
$1.80 Rory
$4.50 Alice
$16.00 Terri
Current bookies odds for Monday's final:
Winner
$1.70 Terri
$4.00 Alice
$7.00 Rory
$8.00 Travis
$13.00 Ben
MrGaryy
16-07-2008, 03:21 PM
I think it will go like this:
5.Alice
4.Rory
3.Ben
2.Travis
1.Terri
I'd like it to go like this:
5.Rory
4.Alice
3.Travis
2.Ben
1.Terri
Rory won't win, he could never beat Terri or Travis! BTW, a huge thanks to Rory for my banner, I love it!
Arneldo
16-07-2008, 03:52 PM
It a vote to evict, and the tween vote has saved Rory so far. Beating Brgitte!
MrGaryy
16-07-2008, 04:45 PM
I think having it a vote to evict could potentially ruin the final.
Arneldo
16-07-2008, 04:49 PM
Well, kinda. I think it ruins the feel of a final. It turns what should be a happy occasion into a negative one. It's not a feeling of "oh, I'm the most popular" it's "Oh, they are more unpopular than me."
I think it does effect the result as well. Especially in 2006 when Jamie won. Had it been just a vote to save/win Camille would have won. Last year, I dont think it effected it that much just because Alesha and Zach were both very popular.
The biggest effect it had was with Vesna. Had it been a vote to save/win - Vesna would have won by a landslide and Logan's would have been last.
I think:
5. Rory
4. Alice
3. Travis
2. Ben
1. Terri
I wish:
5. Rory
4. Travis
3. Ben
2. Alice
1. Terri

Rory has now faced eviction 9 times. Only one other housemate in BB Australia history has been nominated more times then Rory. That's BB6's Camilla, who was nominated 10 times.

Anyway, some sad news. Mikey G has been told his "services will not be needed on the finale."
I'm not Mike's biggest fan but to not allow him be part of the final finale is just wrong. He is the only host left that has been part of the show since Day 1.
but some good news, Channel Nine are intrested in picking up BB.

I hope Rory stays so that the last series will set a record! Yeah I heard about Nine being interested a couple of days ago, but it's said that they would want a BIG format change. So Bye Bye to FNL and Big Mouth.

The current results of BB OS poll..who have you voted to evict?

Ben - 14.3%
Terri - 6.1%

Ben - 14.8%
Terri - 7.0%

Alice - 37.2%
Travis - 23.7%
Rory - 17.6%
Ben - 14.4%
Terri - 7.1%
I don't want this to come to an end! :bawling:
BBAU hasn't always been the most interesting, but nevertheless I still follow it. This year was actually a turning point from me from the dull characters that were in BB06 and BB07.
I just don't want Rory in the finale, I just hope he doesn't become like Jamie BB06.
Arneldo
19-07-2008, 02:49 PM
I'm really not looking forward to Monday. It's going to be sad to see it end. The final FNL was really good, and I'll admit I welled up when Bree did at the end.
This series has been the best in a long, long time but I suppose I'm happy it's ending on such a good series rather then last year. I hope it goes with a bang and Terri wins. I really don't want Ben or Rory to win...Grrr, I'll be so angry. Terri is the only one left who deserves it.
I'm currently making my 'It's time to go...Big Brother 2008' vid, like I did for BB07 last year. I'm using 'Photograph' by Nickleback as the music.
Here is the one I made for last series:

UGH!!!!! WHY IS IT A VOTE TO EVICT!?!?!?!
I was hoping they would change it to a vote to win, because that way, the tween girls would be split. Rory and Ben are at least semi-good looking, and so the tween girls would be torn between them, leaving Terri as the winner.
Now Ben and Rory fans will be targeting Terri because she's the favorite to win. Either Ben or Rory is going to win this. Ugh.

A vote to evict does not gives us a fair winner, IMO. The result of a evict vote means that the least unpopular wins, while a vote o win would give is a most popular winner.

It's happened before, with Rita and Christie in BB05. I think it's for suspense. They evicted Alice first because people expected her to go, while with Travis people were not sure. It's just stupid, and unfair.

Totally. Even though the odds still have Terri as the favorite to win, I'm not getting my hopes up. It would have been perfect if the producers changed it to a vote to win.
I haven't been keeping up with the daily shows that much since Nobbi's eviction (I went on vacation the week after his eviction, and after coming back, I didn't bother watching the episodes on YouTube). But I would still love Tezzers to win. It would be a perfect ending to my first (and last ) season of BBAU.
A little more than 7 hours to go until we find out who will be the winner of BBAU8!

I agree. I really do think Big Brother has been trying to get their promoted housemates further into the game.
There was the re-entry of Terri on Day 1, as she was a heavily promoted sneak peek housemate.
And with Travis, it seems they wanted to keep him in longer although he got well over 10% more than Alice.

It also might have something to do with The Big Sting. Alice and Travis were Evicted in the same order as they were in The Big Sting, thus the show can now say something like "Ooo, it's the saaaame!"

So, tonight’s the big night! But how big exactly will it be? Let’s see:
- We know Kyle & Jackie O will be there. Jackie will be hosting, Kyle will probably be too busy booking his plane ticket home.
- We know our three finalists will be there. As seen last night, a large video screen has once again been set up in the backyard so they can watch the show.
- Updating comments on Mike Goldman’s blog last week, Mike is now telling us that he will be hosting backstage with Bree and Fitzy and the housemates. Speaking of whom…
- We hear Rima won’t be involved in the finale. She’s apparently quite upset with Kyle’s insistence at labelling her a ‘midget’, despite her repeated requests not to. All this year’s other Housemates will surely be there, however.
- All the previous winners will be there, except…
- The Daily Telegraph tells us Big Brother 1 winner Ben Williams has declined the invitation to appear. He supposedly wants to avoid the impact it could have on his “professional reputation” as the owner of a sports marketing agency - the one he was only able to set up with his BB winnings. Classy move, Ben. He will be ‘replaced’ by Sara-Marie.
And lastly, the question everybody is asking - Will Gretel be there? There’s been conflicting reports coming in over the weekend.
* Last week we heard rumblings that the offer had been put out to her, and not yet declined.
* Kyle hinted at her possible appearance last night.
* According to ralph4453 on our forums, it was mentioned on 9am this morning that Gretel would make an appearance.
* On the other hand, seriouslyjo heard a comment on radio this morning from Reggie, saying Gretel wouldn’t be there.
* Mikey G said on his blog today that there would be a dedication “to my old mate Gretzky”.
* Finally, the BehindBigBrother.com staff have today heard unconfirmed sightings of Gretel at Sydney airport.
Either way, tonight will be a big night as what may be the last ever season of Big Brother comes to an end! The finale show is *scheduled* to run from 7.00-9.30pm. Stick to our forums before, during, and after the show!

I cant believe you guys didnt see that fix. That finale was laughable.
First they showed the faces, so terrifans can vote knowing she wasnt in front. THey they say they won show it again, until they realise it didnt favor terri,it favored ben. And finallythey changed their mind, to make sure terri wins. I mean it was a good BB and all, but Terri was always gonna win. Everytime they showed the faces was tomake sure she won. I thought that was pathetic TBH.

I can take it the shows been canned since the last one was in 2006. It was past of a series of specials, spin-off of the show "Australia's Brainiest Kid". The special was called "Australia's Brainiest BB06 Housemate", and David won.

So within 9 minutes, Ben went from being in the lead (winning) to being evicted, meaning Rory dropped to second leaving Terri as the winner.

I mean it was a good BB and all, but Terri was always going to win. Everytime they showed the faces was tomake sure she won. I thought that was pathetic TBH.
I totally understand what you are saying. But I was (and am) a Terri fan, so I was glad they rigged it.
I found it laughable that Jackie & Kyle said, "We're not showing the face anymore," but then later on they said, "We change our minds, we're showing the faces!" And then their commentary afterward was laughable also. They kept saying, "Oh, Ben is in the lead! But Australia, do you want that to happen? You better get your votes in and vote for the people you don't want to win! And also, at this point, Rory will be the first out!"
I can see why some people thought it was rigged (I found it a little rigged myself), but if the producers truly wanted Terri to be guaranteed a win, they should have done a vote to win. They should have done that in the first place.

I honestly don't see what the producers would get out of rigging it for Terri.

I can't get it on it, Safari and Firefox are telling me that it failed to open and on iTunes it says that the server couldn't connect so I can't update my podcast/radio show feed.

I'm still making my BB08 tribute video, it's coming along. But a BBB mode has made one and it's AMAZING! I love it. Here it is:

It definitely made me get a bit teary.
Glad to know you're still making your tribute, Arneldo. Maybe with a better song
The one problem I have with that is that it doesn't really highlight the series, it just shows clips of them smiling. I'm looking forward to yours!

I'm not using 'Photograph' anymore. I've decided to go with U2 'Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own' instead, for a few reasons. It's longer so it means I can fit more in, as there was too many clips I want to include. Also 'Photograph' was a bit too rocky. My tribute video is coming along, up to Dixie's eviction week now but I am hoping to get it finished by tonight.
 In my BBUK tribute videos, I just merge parts of the song that are similar. So for example, when the "you don't have to go it alone" near the middle comes up, I'd just use constant gain to merge that bit into the one at the beginning. It's a bit complicated, but it gives you more time to edit within. :)

Yeh I've tried to use that, but it doesnt work for me usually. I use Window Movie Maker, and my one is ****ed. It freezes all the time, so annoying. That's why it takes so long. But I'm really happy with it so far. For my BB7 tribute video I mostly concentrated on evictions but this time I'm trying to get evictions and some of the main highlights of the series; for example Bianca/Renee fight, Alice Vs Spa Mafia, the 1,000,000 "romances" and some of the best tasks.

Ah, I use Adobe Premiere, so it's a bit easier.
I'm glad you're taking on the fights and etc, that other tribute was just them smiling.

I have to say, it's so much fun looking back over the weeks. Especially the early weeks before Intruders arrived, and the "Ignore the obvious task" was just too good

My tribute is coming along, I think. Up to Brgititte's eviction now and it's been so hard trying to choose which clips to include. Still to include Brigitte's eviction, Pamela, Cherry's eviction, fake eviction, Alive/Travis eviction and then final and I think I have like just under 30 seconds of song left...eeep. I think I need to cut a few more clips :(

I just re-watched Terri crowning moment and I have to say it is the best winner's reaction of all the BB series in the world: she was so not expecting it and almost made a heart attack.

I ended up just editing the song to make it slightly longer at the end. BTW the song was "Somtimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" by U2.
I finished it last night, hope to have it up on Youtube today.

Big Brother's Reggie "going blind"
"Reggie" Sorensen, the popular winner of Big Brother 2003, has revealed she is going blind.
Reggie says she is suffering from retinitis pigmentosa (RP), an inherited, degenerative condition that affects just one in 3000 Australians.
Reggie, 34, told Woman's Day magazine it's only a matter of time before she loses her sight completely.
"I was diagnosed with RP a while ago, but it was one of those things I didn't really worry about,'' she told the magazine.
"But in the last six months it had gotten a lot worse."

One month on and where are the 2008 Big Brother housemates? What has happened to their dreams of further fame? What has happened to their in-house friendships? And what has happened to their deep tans and toned muscles? LIVENEWS.com.au gave them a call to see what they has to say for themselves, and more importantly what they said about each other…
Brigitte – The big news is Brigitte has moved to the Gold Coast to be with Cherry – and everyone thought that would last! The famously jobless one managed to squeeze her move away from the family home in between two Zoo shoots and one for Ralph. According to Terrance the 21-year-old called him recently at an appearance to get him to come down. He did and ended up compering a ‘manpower’ show, in which Brigitte was a judge. Apparently there’s still no love lost between her and Saxon.
Terri - Terri won the show, but now seems to have disappeared. Apparently she’s squirreled her money away in some high interest bank account and is tossing up whether to return to her job at Coles. News she was going to get a facelift with some of her money couldn’t be confirmed – nor whether she has had a chance to catch up with her idol Pauline Hanson.
Rima – While not at the BB finale (apparently she was annoyed at professional vulgarian Kyle Sandilands referring to her as a midget) she certainly hasn’t shunned her BB housemates. She was guest of honour in Dubbo for the party thrown for Dixie and Renee’s return. She’s apparently heading to Europe to further her performing career.
Terrance – Terrance can still talk you under the table. Your correspondent had a long mag with him – being careful to take regular breaks for rehydration. He’s been soul searching. He’s not sure he got what he wanted out of the show. He’s wondering if he would have had a better chance as an original HM because as an intruder he knew he couldn’t win and so just turned the Terrance nob up full bore rather than easing himself in strategically. He’s stared his own corporate speaking business ‘Star Presentations’, which stands for ‘Start Taking A Risk’. He’ll be speaking on vision, purpose, making dreams become reality and stepping outside the circle of going nowhere. He’s also writing a book called Get off your arse and stop whinging. And hoping to write another called Terrance’s bad Dad joke book. He’s happy to self publish if he has to. He’s also been offered a slot on Dixie’s Broken Hill radio show called ‘Terrance’s positive thinking tips for the Y Generation’.
Rory – Rory’s been mondo busy on the appearance circuit - he reckons he’s booked up until October the 4th. And of course he’s been catching up with Rhianna – he claims “as friends” but she reckons she’s spent the weekend down at his pad, but anyway. When asked about what everyone else is doing Rory said, “some are rockin’ out, some are moochin’ and some are rockin’ out and moochin”, how illuminating.
Travis – the squeaky voiced boy wonder is apparently doing a pilot for ‘a princess sparkles show’ with Brigitte – whatever that is. Otherwise he’s loving the attention of being a BB housemate and messing around with some radio segment somewhere someplace.
Nobbi – The nob has been having a lot of fun with the girls on the appearance circuit and playing host to Ben and Rory. The kombi man is excited to be currently taking out a mystery woman from el Salvadore – who apparently has a bit more of a brain than some of the girls on the appearance circuit. The nob severed his contract with Harry M Miller and is looking to sign up with Max Markson. He’s also writing about his Big Brother adventures.
Cherry – The ultimate player has managed to get himself a deal with a TV show comparing extreme sports. Or so they say.
Ben – Fresh from a week in Melbourne at Nobbi’s house the Nineteen-year-old is up for anything. He’s taken the semester off from law to explore possibilities. He’s been speaking to modelling and acting agencies as well as radio stations in his hometown of Perth. He’s thinking of moving to Melbourne. He’s amazed at the chick situation – he reckons the girls that approach him now wouldn’t have given him the time of day before BB.
Bianca – Apparently Bianca and Rory’s best mate, someone called Kahil, are together. The buxom one apparently flew down to see him for his birthday, and Kahil has sent the eighteen-year-old roses in the mail.
Alice – No-one had heard much from the vet. Apparently she’s a little scarred by the experience, disappointed all anyone ever talks to her about is the treadmill.
Renee – Good old Renee is back at the Abattoir and playing rugby. She’s apparently on with one of Cherry’s mates as well. The famously short-tempered one wants to travel and is saving up so she can take that trip to New York. Though she’s been a bit sick of late she’s still managing to organise a holiday for Rhianna’s daughter Mia so she can visit the famous Dubbo Zoo.
David – The fire fighter just signed a book deal with New Holland for his book on his childhood experiences in that cult called Losing My Religion. You remember the one that meant, when he escaped at Nineteen, he was in a ‘Bad Boy Bubby’ situation – having never seen a movie, swum at the beach, kissed a girl, eaten in a restaurant or used a remote control. For a while he did a regular segment with Dixie on Hype FM but he’s canned that. In between openings and the like he’s fighting fires and promoting the fire fighter’s calendar he’s in.
Rhianna – Rhianna’s been down to see Rory in Geelong. She’s met his dog stubby, or ‘stub-dog’ as he’s called and told LIVENEWS.com.au she cried when she had to go. The twenty-five-year-old had Rory up in Sydney for a week and did all the touristy things – Bondi Beach, Dinner at Centrepoint, and the Fishmarkets. And she says neither she nor Mia have had any backlash from the way she made Rory come in handy either. She’s back working for the bank in Leichhardt.
Saxon – Apparently the inked one is back at work driving the cement truck and trying to kiss girls. It must be his enlightened views on the Cronulla riots that brings them in.
Rebecca – She did her Zoo shoot and said her ultimate fantasy was to have a threesome with a girl. Even though in the house she found girls trying to pick her up ‘disgusting’.
Nathan – The virgin is apparently doing a radio show with a community radio station in his home town of Adelaide. He’s busy getting back with his girlfriend abut is apparently still hung up on Renee. He wants to do public speaking and seminars at schools about goal setting – and he wants to get into Kids TV.
Michael – It’s assumed he finished his tour with I Killed The Prom Queen.
Barney – Who knows.
So there you have it. A month after it all finished that’s where they’re up to. Now the only question you have to ask yourself is: Do you feel better for knowing?
LiveNews (http://www.livenews.com.au/Articles/2008/08/22/Big_Brother_Where_are_they_now)
I love how Barney just gets a "Who knows"
I forgot he was even in there.
