Managed to beat Ramuh EX and Shiva EX today, literally beat the latter in two tries.

I've not even beat Garuda Ex yet, lol, got her to 1% and was the last one standing, one more cast and she'd have been toast.

Garuda's pretty simple, it's tank intensive though so if you've got two bad tanks then you have no chance. The only two EX Primals I haven't done are Titan and Ifrit but I'm honestly not too bothered about them, the gear is outdated and I don't care about achievements.

You can fight Levi and Mog EX without having to fight the first three and beating those two will unlock the rest EX Battles. Levi is pretty simple, Mog is a pain and Ramuh is a scrotum rash but Shiva EX is really easy. It's a good place to get 115 weapons and gear.

Yeah, I hear Titan and Ramuh are the worst, Ifrit's apparently easy though. I kinda want to get past Turn 5 at some point, but I just find the moving around in time hard lol.

Naoki Yoshida just made an appearance at the Niconico Live New Year Countdown and had something special to share with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn fans.

It has been announced that patch 2.5 for FFXIV has a concrete release date of January 20th. This date places it weeks before most estimates, and means that the game’s first expansion, Heavensward, could be arriving sooner than previously thought.

Patch 2.5 will bring with it a plethora of goodies. It’ll include the following according to slides from a recent Letter From the Producer Live:

Blitzball, the underwater sport made famous by Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 may one day make an appearance in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

That's according to game director Naoki Yoshida, who revealed to IGN he's had conversations with Yoshinori Kitase about possibly including the sport in a future update, in a similar manner to how Final Fantasy VIII's Triple Triad is. He also teased something may be coming to Eorzea to celebrate Final Fantasy XV's launch, too.

"We can’t say it’s been decided yet, this may be just half-joking so don’t write it down as confirmed," he said. "But there was a meeting about two months ago where I had a chance to speak with Kitase-San, and I mentioned there seemed to be a big demand for implementing a Blitzball element in Final Fantasy XIV, and Kitase-San was just like, 'Oh wow, I never knew that? That could be cool to consider!' So let’s just say… that conversation happened.

"I’m also friends with Mr. Tabata, the director of Final Fantasy XV, so we’ve chatted because we’ve done the Lightning collaboration for Final Fantasy XIII and we’d like to do something to celebrate the release of XV. Perhaps we might be able to see four guys riding in a black car? Although, as it’s Final Fantasy XIV, we need to decide if it should be a flying mount instead!

"And of course, we’d love to explore opportunities within other Square Enix titles so we can explore their worlds, but it's important not to deviate from what we’ve established as Eorzea. So we'll always keep both titles involved intact, but it’d be cool to explore."

Nah not really, the EU servers are in Canada atm anyway, so it doesnt matter too much. Never really experienced any problems. It also helps, cause the mornings are quiet, so you can get things done that you couldnt when all the Americans are on, lol.

I originally intended to go for Elezen but once I saw the Lalafell on screen there was no competition anymore, it was too cute. :laugh: And killing massive enemies and clearing dungeons when I'm so tiny is really cool too. I like that you can level up all the different classes on the same character, I might give the thaumaturge a go later. I don't think I'll be trying out a tank or healer any time soon though they have too much responsibility. I can guarantee I'd mess up. :worry:

Basically anything with (Hard) next to it, particularly the trials. I'm having a lot of trouble with Urth's Fount, and hard mode Garuda and Titan. It takes such a long time to find a group and then when I finally do they all run off after a couple of wipes, sometimes even before 5 minutes has gone while those of us remaining are left to hang on to the 15 minute mark so we can abandon without the penalty. People have no patience at all.

I'm part of an fc and it's pretty much useless with only me and a couple of other active members (both of whom are also dps which doesn't help with the queue times haha), but my friend is the leader and I'd feel super awkward every time I hang out with him now if I quit because he was so happy when I joined. :laugh: So I'm kind of stuck in it.

I'm kinda surprised the groups you're in are struggling with the HM primals, most of the time people can ignore mechanics for those battles and just burn 'em down. You must have been pretty unlucky to get teams that can't do that.

I think the hard mode primals are only needed for the relic, which is outdated now, with a new relic coming in 3.1. I agree with Dezzy, its weird that parties are struggling with Hard Mode primals, usually Garuda is steamrolled in 3 minutes.

Last year, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida told DualShockers that the team was ready to develop an Xbox One port of the game as soon as Microsoft opened to cross-platform gameplay.

Recently, Microsoft opened to cross-platform gameplay between Xbox One and Windows 10, and Yoshida-san gave DualShockers an update on the situation:

He mentioned that Microsoft’s announcement specifically targets Windows 10, but Final Fantasy XIV is playable on Windows 8 and 7 as well. In addition to this, cross-play with PlayStation consoles also has to be considered, so there are still concerns on that front.

On top of that, Square Enix still doesn’t know how widespread Windows 10 will become. That said, they’re still negotiating with Microsoft for a port.

With the announcement that Square Enix is considering a Nintendo NX port of Dragon Quest XI and Dragon Quest X, Yoshida-san also gave some details on the possibility of that consideration to be extended to Final Fantasy XIV.

First of all, Yoshida-san is still waiting to know when the console will be released, and secondly, Square Enix needs to talk to Nintendo as well about the policies about cross-platform gameplay on the NX before a port can be considered. Negotiations with Nintendo on the topic still have to be started.

Considering that for a MMORPG, more platforms mean more users, and the more users, the better, hopefully we’ll get a port for both Xbox One and NX in the future, turning Final Fantasy XIV into a truly global game.

I must've just been insanely unlucky yesterday because I've managed to get through the hard modes on first attempt/no wipes and extreme Garuda and Titan all fairly quickly with only one group abandon so it's been much more bearable!! And Titan extreme is probably the most fun I've had in a game for a long time. Dodging all the AOEs and bombs in the final 20-30% hp when the space available to walk is tiny is so tense. :laugh:

I gave Thornmarch extreme a go too and that was a bit rough/didn't manage to complete it but on the plus side the battle music was great. :amazed:

Saint Mocianne Arboretum
Pharos Sirius (Hard)
Also, players will now earn experience points from level 50 dungeons.

New alliance raid dungeon Void Ark (TBD) will be added.
Some of you may have seen this flying around the field, but players will be entering that enormous airship-like structure. This is a new 24-man alliance raid that is similar to the Crystal Tower series, and the role requirements will be same, 3 tanks, 6 healers, and 15 DPS.

Here for Pharos HM, love that dungeon.

On behalf of myself and the entire team, I'd like to thank you all for your continued support.

Last year saw the release of FFXIV’s first expansion, which was something we wanted to do since the early days of 1.0. The launch of Heavensward made me feel like we are now on the right track, nearly five years later.

We announced the development of Heavensward at the Fan Festivals to end 2014 with a bang, and we traveled around last year to build momentum for its release, from the Nico Nico Chokaigi, all the way to a castle in Nantes, France. We also held exciting events in the months following at E3 in the United States, China Joy in China, Japan Expo in France, gamescom in Germany, the Tokyo Game Show, and finally G-Star in South Korea.

Looking back on 2015, and how I was able to meet all of you from around the world, I must say it was a very fulfilling year.

So as of August 27, it has been two years since the release of A Realm Reborn, and five years since the release of the original FFXIV. In a way, our game is already well into its lifespan as a MMORPG. But it is my hope for 2016 that we remember how it feels to be a new player, and I want to keep this in mind as we move forward together.

As I mentioned previously, we expect to hold our second round of Fan Festivals starting from October 2016 and moving into 2017. I can’t wait to interact with you guys again on this worldwide tour! We are already planning lots of exciting announcements, events, and attractions, so please wait for more details for joining in the fun.

Stone, Sky, Sea

This is a battle challenge where you have three minutes to defeat a specific training dummy. At the beginning of the broadcast, we had Yoshida demonstrate the battle against the striking dummy for Alexander: Gordias, The Burden of the Father (Savage).

There are several levels of challenge. Each training dummy corresponds to the difficulty of high-level content, and players will be able to test their rotations for each job. We also have Patch 3.2 content available as well, and players can practice here before challenging the new raid. For example, by completing the Alexander: Midas (Normal), the first area for Alexander: Midas (Savage) will become available.

This content is for solo players. There aren’t any rewards, but I believe it’s worth trying. We believe players will expect healers to DPS as well, so we were worried about whether or not we should include this for healers, but we implemented this so healers can challenge it too.



Job Adjustments Part I

We will be changing the method for calculating the potency of physical attacks for tank roles in Patch 3.2. We’ll be making it so vitality affects the potency of physical attacks, and as a result the effect of strength on physical attack potency will be reduced.

From Patch 3.2 onwards, you’ll be safe using only vitality accessories as well as allocating everything to vitality as a tank. For everyone who is currently using strength accessories on their tanks, the damage will be lowered, so please prepare your vitality accessories ahead of time.



Job Adjustments Part II

In regards to tanks, we’ll be looking at each of the three jobs’ defense traits and making overall adjustments to their values. Amongst the adjustments, paladin will be receiving large adjustments. Not only in terms of their offensive-aspects, but overall adjustments as well.

There will be various adjustments for jobs, but one of the major ones will be for astrologians “Shuffle.” We’ll be making adjustments to both the name of the ability and the effect so that the same card cannot be drawn again. Additionally, we’ll be reducing aspects related to enmity.

In regards to machinist, it’s a tough job that deals fast damage; however, compared to other jobs it’s a bit behind in DPS, so we will be making adjustments. We’ll also be making adjustments to bard’s “The Warden’s Paean.”

Naturally, we will be making adjustments to other jobs as well based on everyone’s feedback, but please wait for the patch notes for more details.

We’ll also be making further adjustments to the speed in which the limit break gauge fills up.

Beast Tribe Daily Quests

Gnath daily quests will be implemented in Patch 3.2, and the level adjust system will also be implemented for these quests.

You may notice we’re riding an unfamiliar mount… This is a flying mount used by the Gnath. Gnath’s camp is located near the Vath Storyteller NPC.

Additionally, the Adamantoise mount will also take to the skies! If you’re using the first person camera, you won’t have to worry about it spinning!

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is available on PS4, PS3, Windows and Mac, with Xbox One left out for the moment, but today Xbox Division Head Phil Spencer mentioned on Twitter that he’d love to see the game appear on his console.

During our interview at Gamescom 2014, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida told us that Square Enix was ready to port the game for Xbox One as soon as Microsoft allowed its players to play on cross-platform servers.

In a more recent interview, at Gamescom 2015, Yoshida-san explained that Square Enix was still in negotiations with Microsoft on that front, but while cross-platform gameplay was possible between Xbox One and PC, supporting cross-platform with PlayStation consoles was still a concern. At the time the publisher also did not know how widespread Windows 10 would become.

Today Microsoft announced that Xbox Live will now enable cross-network play with other platforms and console, effectively opening the door to a possible port of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Considering that Windows 10 seems to be getting quite popular, maybe it’s time for Microsoft and Square Enix to have another chat, if they didn’t already. After all, with MMORPGs, the “the more the merrier” rule always applies.
