I use that line a lot at work. In fact I used it on Sunday when I had a table with 4 children who were running around and climbing on the other tables. I asked the mother nicely to make them sit down and she got all annoyed at me, so I got my strict side out and snapped back and told her this was a restaurant not a personal playground. It comes down to parenting at the end of the day, some people just let their kids do whatever they want cos it's to much effort to keep them in line. There's absolutely no consideration for the other people in the restaurant, parents should be teaching their kids how to behave in restaurants and if they can't be bothered then they shouldn't bring them. Obviously, that doesn't apply to babies but like I said having a baby out at 10pm when it was obviously tired as it was crying for so long is selfish.
