I think Bear is anything but a 'coward', he's the only one who is consistent with speaking up about any issues he has to the other housemates. Did it not occur to you that maybe he's not looking for a fight with Heavy?
Re: the Aubrey situation - he can forgive but not forget.
Bear is also one of the few people in there who can admit when he's wrong. A 'coward' to me is somebody who doesn't stand up for themselves. He has shown multiple times that he is the complete opposite of that.
