He's entitled to his creationist views but going "EH-ERRRRR!" everytime someone tried to discuss a less George W Bush style theory to how the universe came into being doesn't make me want him to win.
I've respected the fact that he hasn't been too OTT with his religious opinions during his time in the house but not letting anyone else talk about that particular subject makes me wonder how extreme he may be. So if you want to stop Josie from winning, as I know many do, maybe voting for someone else other than Dave would be sensible. If you care... |

I find Christians a little bit shouty-downy about the creationist/evolutionist question. Amazing really, in the face of so much scientific evidence.

People are closed minded if they don't share Dave's beliefs, and they are just plain wrong if he dosent share theirs.
I thought we all knew this by now

To be honest, I find atheists far more "shouty-downy" than your average Christian. Overly aggressive non-belief is the future. |

I am not an athiest. I'm not a Christian either. I find people "of faith" narrow minded, particularly when it comes to creationism v. evolution. Christians (only because we're talking about Christians here, but I mean every Bible-based religion) pick and choose the bits of the Bible they're going to fight about. Yesterday, Dave made it clear he believed that God created man in his image because it says so in the Bible. He also had his hair cut, although it says, quite clearly in the same Bible, that having your hair cut around your temples is punishable by death. You can't pick and choose the bits you want to believe. It's either God's word, or it's not.

First off - You SHOULD pick and choose what bit APPLY TO YOU and which apply to Israelites and laws which were ONLY FOR THEM and for NOBODY ELSE (which includes David). First off .a) In the same way you have basic reading comprehension skills you apply to all kinds of literature you could then apply those same basic skills to reading a bible. When an author is describing real people in real places in real time then you accept the text is 'literal' (as people use that term now), and, when an 'allegory' is being communicated then you simply take that as 'allegorical'. A poem or a parable MAY be based on 'real people in a real time' but you understand it's meant to communicate the lesson or wisdom or 'idea' and not serve as 'literal information about the people in the poem'. The vast majority of this is not complicated even children can do this seemingly 'instinctively' once they have basic reading skills, but, certainly adults ought to be able to do it and easily sail through 90%+ of the Bible without acting 'confused' over what the text is doing. But anyways, nice job being completely ignorant of your own history. Even David knew better. He, correctly, did not pick was was NOT offered to him in the first place. |

Even if he's stubborn/ignorant/misguided enough to stick to the 'pure creationism' belief, I find the lack of tolerance off-putting. Isn't understanding of others meant to be at the key of Christianity?

Dave will tolerate you, as he tolerates gays, in order to save you. Whether you like it or not.

Dave's grooming technique takes time, he dosent rush things, but his views have been openly stated by him.
He dosent hate the person for being gay, but he sees the act as against his god and as a sin that they can be redeemed from and bought back into the light.
