dog micro chipping - should it be compulsory ? 08.03.16
i welcome with no delay its a law that is sweet if a dog does fail to obey all can identify in any street. this will prevent the unruly out of control won't bleed some may think i am acting cruelly as a owner i should tighten my lead. its so simple to orchestrate your peace of mind won't be lost putting it in will never frustrate £100 is value for money cost. don't worry about the DNA trace getting closer is the "george orwells" society the "orwellian" no what creed, colour and race they are watching and can identify any variety. its all about information surely it must be better to provide so you no before if there is a potential contamination you can be informed before you dog divide. have i explained micro chipping a dog or brass should be protected by law if poetry in the box starts slipping you can assume hold of me has the long arm of the claw. |

I thought it already was?
Our little dog travels with us abroad so he has to have a microchip but I just assumed all dogs had them.

..this was said in 2013 so I don't know if it's still going ahead next month...
The Government is bringing in compulsory microchipping for all dogs from 6 April 2016 to help reunite owners with lost or stolen pets, relieve the burden on animal charities and local authorities and protect the welfare of dogs by promoting responsible dog ownership. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/a...ree-microchips

..hmmmm, the only reason I could think of is of those who keep dogs other than as loved family pets.../that they're just not bothered, type thing ...if a dog is generally neglected and uncared for, then having it micro-chipped would be something that wouldn't be done either..?...

Travelling to Europe requires a pet passport which includes a chip and a check by a vet before they return, ( for Spain at any rate) I could take my pooch to Ireland on the Ferry no questions asked

We never get asked for any documentation when leaving the UK or entering another country but when you are coming back to the UK you have to park your car up, (in whatever country you're in) and take your dog into an office where they carefully scrutinize its documentation. They are really hot on the microchip documents being properly signed off and so anyone taking their dog abroad, make sure its been fully signed or your dog won't get back in.

I'm trying to think when I last saw a stray or lost dog in the UK. Its rare to see a dog running around on its own over here. I think the Brits are very responsible dog owners already and if they made the chip compulsory, we'd just get it done.
In France people let their dog out in the morning before they go to work and find it waiting by the front door when they get home. That's why dog siht in France is such a problem.

I think we got a chip done in Ireland for only 18 euros, you just need to shop around and look for the best deal
