Default Idiot on Deal or No Deal

Who saw it today?

Took £20,000 when he was promised that it would be £45K [then £50K, then £55K and finally £60K] next if he had an all-blue round.

He foolishly took it, found two blues + one red. The offer was £47,000. Carried on and the remaining two boxes were £500 and £250,000 - he would've been offered £90,000. And then his box was opened...and he had £250,000. What a silly, silly man.

Completely foolish. When is a brave man gonna come along and just go for the £250k?

No, not really...considering it doesn't always go wrong and quite often the player leaves with the highest amount of money possible. There's also been two jackpot winners...

Most people don't expect to have the highest box but just aim for the largest amount anyway and their greed lets them down. I bet he feels so gutted though.

He still has 20 grand. Do you have 20 grand?

20k is real money. All of the other figures were hypothetical.

He was playing completely at random. Who's to say if he no dealed he would of chosen the same numbers? If he had and all his reds came up you'd be calling him a fool nonetheless.

Okay.. so he dealt at 20 grand.. but if he next found even 2 reds and a blue the offer would have gone up? I may have said no deal.. erm.. I am not sure though! I probably would play it safe. People are deluded into thinking "this is my day", "I am the one to get the 250K". 20 grand is still a lot of money!! Better than 1p

There have been plenty of "brave" (though some might say "greedy") players who have played on, having rejected some fantastic offers, and ended up going home with a blue. It's got nothing to do with bravery, but everything to do with random luck.

You can't call him foolish, your talking as if he had options and he took the 20k. He never knew what was coming to him, did he.

I'd never, ever call someone that played on and at least tried a fool. The only way anyone will ever win the jackpot on that show [or indeed most others as well] is by trying, it isn't just handed to you on a plate. And if you don't try - you're not going to succeed, are you?

There was some quote from a film [can't remember which] that said 'you try, you fail, you try, you fail. But the only real failure is when you stop trying' - and it's absolutely true. If you don't try - you're never going to get anywhere. Anyone that attempts to play for the jackpot [or the big prizes] on Deal or No Deal is anything but a fool. The people that bail out too early throw away the chance of much, much more money [like today] are the fools.

Of course not, but the opportunity was right there in his grasp. Admittedly, the odds on taking out three blues were not in his favour - but taking out two were certainly possible, and the offer was hardly going to be much down on £60,000 [as long as it wasn't the 250K that went], was it? And indeed it wasn't, it would've been £47,000. It was definitely worth playing.

Yeah, but if you think about it, you haven't been in his place, and £20,000 is a lot of money. I'm just saying it doesn't make him silly or foolish.
