Every time I have put a proper song as my alarm it has completely killed the song for me, partly because I hear it every morning and partly cos I resent that it's woken me up, so now I just have some random alarm type noise

Just a generic Nokia tone. One of the really annoying ones whose rhythm can be translated into "Doobadoo WAKE UP! Doobadoo YOU'RE NOT THAT TIRED! Doobadoo IT'S GOING TO BE A SMASHING DAY!".

Might change it to a nice relaxing bit of Brian Eno for the weekends.
