Default UK : Angry Driver Calls Cyclist A '**********' Video

Nutter

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015...?utm_hp_ref=uk

This was on ITV1 London last night

[A cyclist is repeatedly called a “*******” in an astonishing three-minute
road rage clip uploaded to YouTube on Monday.
The brouhaha, involving a Ray Winston look-a-like and an unseen cyclist
with mounted camera, took place in Richmond Park, London, earlier this year,
with the driver of the 4x4 accusing his two-wheeled nemesis
of not using “the *****ing cycle lane.”]

I'm on the driver's side. If there's a cycle lane there then use it you twerp, it's been put in place for your benefit. Typical self-righteous cyclist trying to goad the guy into reacting in front of his little helmet camera.

I think they're both technically correct...

The driver is a "****ing arsehole" and the cyclist is, indeed, a ****.

Nothing to see here.

LOL... I agree with that somewhat, but I feel it's 70% cyclist *** and 30% ****ing arsehole. Cyclists should have to pass a test and pay road tax and insurance... and of course, adhere to the law, which they so often don't do.

Wow... Okay, cyclists should be made to pay Vehicle Excise Duty... commonly referred to as road tax like the little paper disc you used to get when you paid was commonly called a "tax disc".

'Road tax was abolished in 1937 and replaced by Vehicle Excise Duty.
This is a tax on cars, not roads, and it goes straight into the general Treasury fund. Many government agencies have now started calling VED "car tax" but it might be classified as a pollution tax, since it's now based on the size of engine and emissions. Ultra-low emissions vehicles are exempted.'

Yes, I knew that thanks. I've paid quite a bit of "road tax" in my life, I know where it goes.

I stand by what I said. If they wants lots and lots of cycle lanes built - which they should build without a doubt - cyclists, the only ones who will use those lanes, should pay toward them. And even if you disagree - which you will - then you surely must agree that they should carry insurance and adhere to the rules of the road.

As it was abolished before you were born you have paid no 'road tax'.
I'm not sure how the reaction of this man makes the fact cyclists use roads an issue. I disagree with the actions of the driver in the video, he couldn't have given the driver more room, it was aggressive driving from an aggressive man... that's it.

People refer to it as Road Tax. Some people still call the Council Tax 'Poll Tax'. It's a figure of speech discussing the use of it is not so much a debate as a hair splitting fest.

As far as I could tell there was a cycle path available. If you drove a car you'd probably notice many cyclists using the roads when a cycle lane is right there, available for them. Add to that the fact that people pay a lot of money to use the roads when driving a car it's fair to expect those who don't pay - at all, whatever you want to call the charge - to use the cycle paths provided for them.

It's not hair splitting it's presuming you as drivers have more right to be on said roads even though road tax has not existed for many years, it cannot and should not be used to bully other road users or as an excuse for dangerous and aggressive behaviour.
Council tax covers highways which everyone pays.

To be fair, sometimes the cycle paths are in horrible condition, full of potholes, no one bothers to clear broken branches or debris etc., so to an extent I can understand cyclists using the road as it is completely legal and especially because you can be fined for riding on the pavements (even on long stretches between towns where there are clearly no pedestrians, which is quite stupid IMO).

It IS annoying when cyclists block the road completely but that didn't really seem to be the case here and it did seem a bit like the driver was driving aggressively on purpose to make a point, and there never any excuse for that.

However, right from the word go the cyclist was on the top note as well and quite clearly trying to goad the guy for whatever reason. There was no attempt at any sort of discussion made by either of them.

So I stand by my initial assessment! Just a pair of twats.
