Default Where have all the anti static strips gone from the back of cars.

You never see them these days, have people finally cottoned on to how worthless they are?

I mean it's about the trade off really... would you rather very occasionally get a minor harmless static shock... or have one of these hanging off your car?

I used to get them constantly from our old car but have never had one from the new one... ... maybe it secretly has one of these hiding underneath.

I get them almost every time and they hurt I've developed a bit of PTSD when it comes to touching the car door or any kind of door, computer etc I even get them when i touch people sometimes.

(still don't have those static things hanging off my car though)

What about those bead seats people used to use for their backs while driving another fad

Weren't they to stop your back getting sweaty? I'm sure I only ever saw them in taxis though. I think there are more modern options these days .

I remember when cars had little ashtrays next to the gearstick (yuck) and the 12v slot was for an actual lighter instead of USB ports.

My dad actually smoked in the car, too. That little ashtray was always stuffed with cigarette butts. Urgh.

My dad chain smoked everywhere, car, house everywhere and yeah those lighters weren't that long ago, were they? Or am I just really old now (don't answer that )

car drivers are basically suckers for pointless accessories. Think fluffy dice, sheepskin seat covers, go faster stripes, the list is endless, and some companies made a fortune

Well you still get those too then - it's just that now it's a thing that plugs into the 12v socket and actually massages

Surely this is distracting though...

I think fluffy dice are actually a punishable offense these days, because they can obstruct the driver's view. Ł100 on-the-spot and 3 points on your license quite possibly (though if you get pulled over and are polite and they're feeling generous, they may just explain that it's not allowed and tell you to remove them immediately).

Having anything at all hanging there is technically breaking the highway code. Unlikely to be pulled over for a small air freshener or whatever (but you still technically could be) BUT a couple of big ol' swinging dice on the front windscreen might well be enough to prompt a stop from a traffic cop on a slow day.

They are meant to fail you on your MOT if you have an Air Freshener hanging from your rear view mirror. Sure most MOT examiners will just remove them (i know mine does)

I'm not 100 percent sure on the physics of it, but would rubber tyres pick up static?
