Yeah, if they're just taught that sex is bad then they'll see it as a taboo subject and not learn about it. When they finally decide to have it (usually BEFORE marriage anyway), they use no protection and wham bam, hey baby!

Most of its just a load of indoctrination anyway, scare them away from sex, make them believe it's only worthy and good if you're married - next thing you know you have a married 18 year old girl who is sexually incompatible with her husband (or vice versa), cheats around and gets a bucketload of nasty things.

All this purity nonsense it about 'ownership' - nearly always applied by men towards women. Men like to think they have had 'first dibs' - no second-hand tat. Just about thier egos. I wouldn't buy into it if I were you. Nothing wrong with a bit of experience and 'trying before buying' so to speak.

Problem with that is that marriage is supposedly for life - but we all know that lust doesn't last anywhere near that long. There has to be an awful lot more to a relationship than that (because chances are 'that' won't last for long).

What's preferable - liking someone and enjoying their company - but not fancying them OR fancying the pants off someone, but being bored rigid by them - on a long-term basis.

Well tbh before you say its 'pointless' or what ever, it's actually quite a sacred part of religion. Before it became some huge trend after the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus, it was something for young Christians (or any other religion that does it) to prove their trust to God and keep themselves pure. It was also special because a lot of girls do it as a promise to their fathers (especially in America) rather than putting on a ring when you probably aren't even religious and saying you'll do it because Nick Jonas does it.

I know Christians my age that do it and it's only because their families are really devoted to Christianity. I would never do it myself but I wouldn't lay around either.

Trouble with that - is that it has nearly always been one-sided. Nearly always applied to women - and not men. Certainly don't agree with that. What is good for the goose - is most certainly equally as good for the gander!!!

Yeah, but especially in the case of the father/daughter, I don't think it's going to be fairly common for a father to ask their son to not have sex. Most males that do it have probably just seen it in the bible and know not to do it.

I personally think it's all ridiculous. Having sex before marrige shouldn't be seen as a sin at all, what's the difference with doing it before or after anyway? it's sex! But if people want to wear these rings then they can.. I just think that they should be taught about safe sex rather than be told to not have it full stop (well until their married).
