He may be a Hollywood actor but he's not exactly Robert Deniro. I've only seen one or two of his films where he had a starring role like Free Willy and Reservoir Dogs. I think that's probably true for most people in this country, and probably even america too. Heck the twins didn't even recognise him at first!

I don't think he was really that famous or well known in the UK. People might recognise his face but I doubt most people in the UK really would be able to identify him before this show. So he's been in some brilliant films. Reservoir Dogs was great because of the script and Tarantino. I haven't seen Kill Bill but that's probably true for that too. He didn't exactly have the defining role that made those films great. Tarantino is a genius and he could have made those films great with another set of actors. Donnie Brasco was another one. I haven't seen it but it was the screenplay that was nominated for an oscar for that film. Also from whate I've heard, Pacino and Depps performances received a lot of praise for that film. In Free Willy, it was the whale that was the star as well as the moving story. His role again was secondary and he was replaceable.

All these brilliant films he has been in, they were great because of other people. He didn't get any awards for them or even any nominations. He was a replaceable secondary character in these films. His moderate fame comes primarily from being associated with great films. Whether you like him in the house or not, that's what he is. So let's not make out he's some big Hollywood star. He's not.

He is a Hollywood star whether you want to think it or not. He was one of the main characters in Reservoir Dogs, Infact the scene that everyone remembers and talks about was a scene with Michael only (and the ear). No one is claiming he's in Deniro or Pacinos league but that doesn't take away from the fact that he is a famous actor and has had a very successful movie career

Thats the funniest thing Ive read in days. You could apply that logic to just about anyone in any film ever. Would De Niro be a massive star if he hadn't been given roles in great films?? Good example would be Dan Akroyd who was about as big a comedy actor as you could get in the 80s and 90s but when the roles dried up he faded into obscurity. Did he suddenly become crap overnight or was it perhaps just the mercurial nature of fame and celebrity in Hollywood.

Take Mickey Rourke (who I believe is mates with Michael) up until the Wrestler and Sin City he was a washed up nobody. And for that matter Travolta in his role in Pulp Fiction, that totally resurrected his career.

Madsen pretty much IS reservoir dogs, he and Harvey Keitel hold the whole film together. For that alone he is a film legend, that film revolutionised the way films are made, Tarantino is a genuis, the fact he cast him in 3 separate films tells me he must be fairly talented.

Just because you aren't clear who he is and what he's done, and you "have only seen 1 or 2 films" (is it 1 or is it 2?) doesn't mean you're in the majority. Most people who like films and know anything about them know who he is. Loads of people on this forum know who he is... but hey, you obviously think you're right, so what's the point arguing the toss with you?

Getting a little upset are we? Do you know him personally? I don't think most people who like films in general know who he is. Certainly most people who like Tarantino films would know him. You would have to work a little harder than you are able to make me have any kind of emotion about you. Although I do admit your provocative, argumentative views I do find really tiresome. Michael is one of the best known and best supported housemates on here and masses of people knew him from the start. But hey, if you don't know him.... then everyone else must be wrong.

I know who he is by looking at his face but the name did not ring a bell to me. When he was rumoured to go in I had to google him, but when I saw him I knew instantly who he was and what some of the films he's been in were.

But I agree with the OP, I don't know all of his films and I wouldn't class him as the most famous american actor of our time.

Well obviously he isn't the most famous actor, but the way the twins went on they probably were trying to convey that, they don't seem very realistic and tend to exaggerate from time to time. So I guess the point is valid, but given that the twins actually didn't say he was the most famous actor, and instead portrayed it, there appears to be leeway to everybodies arguements.
