Dane Bowers has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rape.

A woman has claimed that the Another Level singer and another male attacked her in a hotel room in the early hours of Saturday morning, reports The Sun.

Bowers had performed a DJ set at the Deco Lounge nightclub in Hertford hours earlier. The victim is said to have attended the club before heading back to the hotel and later contacting police.

The former Celebrity Big Brother runner-up was arrested after speaking to police by prior appointment on Tuesday (April 3).

Bowers has been accused of conspiracy to rape, while his 35-year-old friend is being investigated on suspicion of rape.

Both men are said to have denied the allegations and have been bailed until Monday, May 14.

Hertfordshire Police said in a statement yesterday (April 4): "A 32-year-old man from Surrey presented himself at Hatfield police station by prior arrangement on April 3.

"The man has been arrested and is assisting police following an allegation of sexual assault."

Bowers is separated from wife Chrissy Johnston, and has a son Kai, 14, with ex-girlfriend Emma-Jane North.

I doubt a charge will even come if it ends up his word against hers. He seemed to be doing well for himself too, should've got one of those super-injunction things.

Those super-injunctions seem to make things even worse as far as I can see! If it is proven this girl is lying though I hope she's charged with something, that's a life ruinner right there.But maybe she is telling the truth, who knows?

Even if he did rape her he would probably get off lightly because his a celebrity.

Of course she could be making it up though as proven in the past with others.

I don't understand the "conspiracy" bit. Surely it's either attempted rape or rape? I don't understand how there can be a conspiracy, but no attempt?

Don't think so. Think they are implying, that him and his mate always intended to rape someone after the his set, but you unless they attempt, then how would anyone know?

Well I was going to post underneath it but I didn't have time as it turned out.

I was actually going to make the point about the fact that we have heard so many stories in the media where people claim sexual assault etc, and they are upheld, or they turn out not to be true. There are cases when people have admitted their stories were not true and they were doing it "for the cash". There is always doubt in my mind now when I read a story like this, which is quite sad really. People who have "cried wolf" so to speak have put this doubt in my mind. And it's wrong because you should have an open and unbiased approach towards such matters. Is it just me, or does anyone else read stories like this and that thought creeps into their mind? And I am just talking about where celebrities are involved.

It does seem like a lot of accusations against celebs/public figures turn out to be flimsy or false, just off the top off my head there's; Dominique Strauss Kahn, Louis Walsh and Ben Roethlisberger, & I'm sure there's plenty more

But then again Dane is hardly a big name so there's very little publicity or money to be gained from making such an allegation against him

I think most people would know who Dane Bowers is though, to be fair, and I am sure if he was not a celebrity of some kind, that he would not get half the women falling over him than he does.
