Tony Blair brands Corbyn a "nutter" as he lines up shock return to UK politics
TONY Blair is plotting a shock return to the political fray in the wake of Brexit, it has been claimed. The former Prime Minister is said to be unimpressed with current premier Theresa May, reportedly branding her "a lightweight", while current Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is "a nutter" according to a source close to the 63-year-old. Blair is now said to be seeking new offices in Westminster for himself and his 130 staff, a power base close to Whitehall from where he can influence negotiations over the UK's departure from the EU. He has also allegedly held conversations with former chancellor and fellow Remainer George Osborne about post-Brexit Britain. One source told the Sunday Times that Blair wants to rebrand himself as global statesman in the "Henry Kissenger mould", after his reputation was severley dented by the Chilcot Inquiry into the Iraq invasion. Another insider told the paper: “He’s not impressed with Theresa May. "He thinks she’s a total lightweight. He thinks Jeremy Corbyn’s a nutter and the Tories are screwing up Brexit. "He thinks there’s a massive hole in British politics that he can fill.” ![]()

He's declaring almost as many wars on current politicians as he did on countries whilst in office. Almost.

Good to hear, he'd have my support if he forged a new movement of liberal and centrist politics

Remembering Kerry

I do not agree with his views on Corbyn and also Iraq will hang around his neck for the rest of his life.
However, one thing he was, was a winner, true any Labour leader would have beaten John Major in 1997,however not by the margin Blair did and certainly not to almost exactly repeat it in 2001 over Hague. Although from the votes, he should not have done, he did also after Iraq's invasion, win again in 2005 with a good overall majority. I also think he may have scraped a win or just missed out in 2010 too He was a fairly strong advocate of a re-alignment of politics of the centre left. He and Paddy Ashdown for sure could have really worked on that, had Blair not been so blinded by his massive election win in 1997,in my view. Politics in the UK is all up in the air, usual rules, predictions and events out the window. He could maybe just tap into the vacuum that is there and bring about some coming together of ideals again. Nothing could likely now surprise me as to UK politics. This, if it all comes about and he is planning some return in some way, is going to be worth watching, I think anyway. |

I agree. After all - the vast majority of MPs were opposed to Brexit, the vast majority of Labour MPs lack confidence in Corbyn - it's not hard to imagine Blair could harness the energy of MPs from all sides who are either disillusioned with their own party's leadership or with the whole process of Brexit which has so far been a complete mess. |

I agree his leadership days are gone but he does know how to win elections and tap into soft support for other parties too. That is where, from behind the scenes he could well influence a great deal. Who, what and how is another matter but he must feel he has some ideas to consider this move. I find it interesting anyway and will watch any developments closely. |

He is probably only talking of returning to politics because the Gravy Train of the 'Public Speaking circuit is drying up for him. No one should seriously mention Blair and the bringing about of some coming together of 'IDEALS' in the same breath - in my opinion.

Blair is gone and should stay that way , most people now dislike him intensely , i've always disliked him , he almost turned the Labour party into another Tory party and got as rich as most of them on the way. Piss off

Funny how much Blair is hated in Labour now when he's their only leader to have won an election in nearly forty years lol
