Remembering Kerry
|
I do not agree with his views on Corbyn and also Iraq will hang around his neck for the rest of his life.
However, one thing he was, was a winner, true any Labour leader would have beaten John Major in 1997,however not by the margin Blair did and certainly not to almost exactly repeat it in 2001 over Hague. Although from the votes, he should not have done, he did also after Iraq's invasion, win again in 2005 with a good overall majority. I also think he may have scraped a win or just missed out in 2010 too He was a fairly strong advocate of a re-alignment of politics of the centre left. He and Paddy Ashdown for sure could have really worked on that, had Blair not been so blinded by his massive election win in 1997,in my view. Politics in the UK is all up in the air, usual rules, predictions and events out the window. He could maybe just tap into the vacuum that is there and bring about some coming together of ideals again. Nothing could likely now surprise me as to UK politics. This, if it all comes about and he is planning some return in some way, is going to be worth watching, I think anyway. |
