God doesnt exist. Even if he did, it was probley his birthday in July or somthing but people just make it be December so we can get off more.

The word Easter comes from Eostre an Anglo Saxaon pagon Goddess, so Christians celebrating Easter are celebrating a pagan rite.

Jesus died during the time of passover, so why did we not just keep passover as like the lambs that were slaughtered so their blood could be put on the lintels of the houses so the Angel of Death would pass over during the final plague, Jesus was our passover lamb, so that those who come to him will not meet with the second death.

Incidentally in the King James Bible in Acts 12:4, the word Easter is used, but look at it in any other translation and you will see that this is a mistranslation. The word should have been Passover. One time in a conversation on PalTalk (is that still going?) with a King James only guy, I mentioned this mistranslation and he said that Paul used this word since the others would not understand Passover. He did not stay around long enough too hear

• It was not Paul referring to this festival it was Herod who would be familiar with the Jewish Passover
• Everyone in that region would know of Passover
• The festival of Easter came long after the close of the Apostolic age

The Bible is quite clear in Acts 20:7 by example we are to remember the death burial and ressurection every first day of the week in the Lord's Supper, not just once a year in a festival which has a complex way of being calculated which is disputed by two major denominations.

Whilst what you say is technically true to a degree there is abundant evidence supporting the fact that the Greco-Roman church tended to amalgamate idolatrous rites into the Christianity they were introducing to heathen cultures. If you place yourself in the history of the time it was a fairly sensible way to evangelise and spread the good news. It was not some cloak and dagger way of tricking people etc.

The idea was that non-Christians would be more likely to embrace Christianity if they were allowed to retain their pagan practices, especially if some Christian correspondence with their traditions could be established.

As you say there is no mention of "Easter" in my Bible I have on my desk here (ESV).

However for Christians I do not think that out customs built up over the years detract from the "Easter" message. We should celebrate the resurrection and our churches do. Whilst the secular Easter is chocolate, bunnies and holiday, the Christian Easter is marks the end of Lent, the death of Jesus on Good Friday and his resurrection from the dead three days later on Easter Sunday.

As long as Christians gather to celebrate this then that is in my mind correct and good.
