Aberdeen is a parochial backwater, like a lot of Scotland. Their dogged nationalism and hatred of the English is mostly down to insecurity and a retrospective victim mentality. The fact that we don't have the same insecurities is pretty much the reason the English don't blabber on about how proud they are to be English (except for morons like Gary Bushell). Our superiority complex makes up for it.

I think that's unfair. I feel I have a national affinity with the Scots, Welsh, Northern Irish and the rest of England, it's not my fault that any of them don't feel the same way.

Or it could come from the fact that they were victims of the English in the past? Maybe English people don't have the same insecurities because you were not invaded and persecuted in the past? .........Just a thought

I despise the British Empire just as much as I hate the Spanish, Portuguese, French and Dutch colonists. I like the country as it is. England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland under one government. If any of these became independent through devolution, we would all become a laughing stock.

Oh and no invading other countries and making them our slaves.
