Aren't they? As a working girl group. There won't be a new album or new singles. They are at the same point the Spice Girls are and any new Girls Aloud activity will be a reunion for the 10th aniversary next year.
But really, lets face it, Cheryl has moved on to bigger and better - her music is Girls Aloud Part II and the Nadine has flopped. Girls Aloud - so '00s ... |

It's weird, I really don't like the idea of them not reforming because I consider them to be one of the best things about 00s British pop, but then I don't actually.. like any of their songs? I mean, I don't dislike them per se, just none of their songs really appeal to me. I blame Nadine though, I mean it says a lot that the other four appeared together for the Pride of Britain awards but she wasn't there - say what you like about Cheryl but she's not the one blocking a reunion...
Personally I'm still rooting for an original Sugababes reunion to spark a chart battle with the current line up, that's far more entertaining than Girls Aloud working with Xenomania for the millionth time. |

I can see them reforming next year, Cheryl isn't going to be big in America and her last album was absolutely diabolical

I actually enjoy her singing voice, it's got a distinctive sound, she's just a really weak singer with nothing new to offer an American market that's oversaturated with female popstars. They have their Britneys, Katys and Mileys, just like we have our Cheryls and Pixies etc. She's just not going to get a look in; if she was going to 'crack America' she'd have to do it at a time when male artists have been dominating the charts and females are starting to release again - jump on the bandwagon as it starts, as it were.

if she gets that gig I think music success is very possible on the back of it. Fight for this love was a global smash so she does have selling power as an unknown solo artist. She wasn't famous in those countries beforehand. |

If they were to reform wouldn't it be 'Cheryl and her backing band' though. Then there's Nadine the failed solo member. It's just too uncomfortable now, when before they were all pretty even.
Very different to the solo Spices who all have had number ones in their own right - except Posh who's now this fashionista. |

I think the Spice Girls were a shorter, but sweeter success overall. They couldn't sing for toffee, but had so much more personality than Girls Aloud (who are not exactly singing virtuosos themselves) and catchier songs.

Well I think American Idol's dying a slow death seeing as Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell have both left it (I think?! I honestly haven't watched it since its 2nd series, save for seeing an episode on TV not that long ago and not recognising the judging panel) so a new program with Simon Cowell attached to it is going to generate a lot of interest seeing as he was the main draw of American Idol. I don't think the X Factor will set the USA alight with interest though, I think the era of reality TV music stars is going to disappear for a while in the future.
