I watched last night while waiting for the Neil Diamond programme after it, I can't say I like Barry as a singer but some of his songs I really like,he has written some great ballads with real meaningful lyrics,being a sentimentalist those are songs I like a lot too.

'Read em and weep' is one of the songs I really like of his also 'Trying to get the feeling', one of my Aunts is crazy about Barry though.

Yes, 'read em and weep' has amazing lyrics. His songwriting is from the heart everytime, look how long he's lasted in the business and how many others respect him

Definately, that cannot be taken away from Barry at all, he has been around for decades and his concerts still sell out too.
As you say his lyrics are really meaningful,people can likely relate to most of them and that means the song means even more to them.
