or something like that and you were left with permanent serious - and I mean serious - damage (e.g. facial disfigurement, having to be on a wheelchair for the rest of your life) would you feel lucky to have survived or unlucky and wish you were dead?

Saying that though I have massive respect for those that are out in the public fighting for equality, such as Katie Piper.

I just, wouldnt be that strong-minded.

I would feel fortunate to still be alive, to still see and learn of my family and friends successes and see my Nephews and Nieces grow up.

Obviously I would be sad to be so severely disabled but hopefully I would be able to help others in similar situations in some way.

I would also hope that I may be able to educate and inspire those with no disabilities to see that the disabled are still people with feelings and thoughts who had their thoughts,hopes and dreams once too just as so many disabled people have been able to inspire me and educate me as to that too.

..very well said Joey..even with permanent scars or disabilities it's possible to live a fulfilled life and enjoy the people you love...I'm sure your loved ones would want this too

I think i'd feel unlucky at first, but I think i'd be able to adapt to it after awhile so in the end I think I would be grateful to be alive.

I'd feel lucky to be alive. Unless I was in such a state that I couldn't feed myself, go to the toilet myself etc then I might not be.

But, if I had permanent scars, or was in a wheelchair but could still live a fulfilling life then I'd be grateful.

I'm glad people chose life over being attractive. I'd definitely be thankful to be alive, unless it was all to a ridiculous cost, as Marsh says.

Sometimes handicapped people or people that have had accidents can be more attractive than perfectly healthy people Redway, but I do understand what you mean and I agree with you for the most part away from the fact that I don't want to die.
