Was discussing this with Greg and Linda the other night. My father wanted to call me Dwayne, my mother wanted to call me Miles. They settled on James somehow.

I was supposed to be called Michelle, but my mother had a c-section and I had complications at birth while she was sleeping so my father pulled the name "Jessica Louise" out of thin air with absolutely no reasoning, since I needed to be named in case I died. I'm glad anyway, Michelle wouldn't suit me!

Melanie, after the character in the film Gone With The Wind. Then it got changed to Katherine? Pfft. I wanted to be called Andrea or Alexandra.

If I were a girl I was to be Megan, and my mum really wanted to call me Scott but then my dad intervened. Put her in her place and all that. I think I was named after a speedway driver :/

My mum considered calling me "Storm"... Not because she was a hippy, but there was an awful storm the night I was born and one of the characters in the book she was reading at the time was called Storm.

My dad wanted to call me Guilherme, Douglas or Fernando but my mum always has the last word and decided to call me Maxwell.

Was penciled for a Scott by my mum but my dad played his favorite band card and I ended up being named after Stuart Adamson who 11 years later killed himself in a Hawaii hotel room due to having to live up to it.

My mom wanted Richard or Thomas but my dad overruled her and decided to stick to his running theme of naming us all after 50's stars and decided that I'd be named after James Dean. A few weeks later though my mom had a freakout because she's superstitious and thought I'd die young with that name so they dropped the James part and just named me Dean.

The idea that you could have been named James Dean is priceless.

Richard is a boss name. You can be Richard, Rick, Ricky, Dick or Dicky. No complaints.

Since I was the youngest and all my brothers and sisters were named after uncles and aunts etc my parents decided they wouldn't call me after anyone and my name would be either Joseph or Josephine it wasn't until after my birth was registered my mum told my dad she had been a bit sneaky because he had forgotten about her step brother named Joseph (who lived in England at the time) and she hadn't bothered to remind him.

So yeah my name was always going to be Josephine..
