My mom wanted Richard or Thomas but my dad overruled her and decided to stick to his running theme of naming us all after 50's stars and decided that I'd be named after James Dean. A few weeks later though my mom had a freakout because she's superstitious and thought I'd die young with that name so they dropped the James part and just named me Dean.
