Default It's Wednesday! Had no sleep yet. Insomniac.

I can't sleep, I've tried a few times and I'm still wide awake. Wired.

When I'm working I rarely get more than 4/5 hours. I get more on my days off.

Sleep is soooo overrated LOL

I used to stress as I could never get the recommended 8 hours sleep ..

Now I’m settled with 4 to 5 hours each night …

I am a bit quirky though

I've barely had any either Kate - on day 3/4 of a good dose of tonsillitis. Hopefully it starts to shift soon.

Happy Wednesday all! Halfway to the weekend!

Sleep is never overrated with kiddos. Still, I prefer to stay up and lose sleep to do something relaxing than to just sleep the 8 hours. I make up with napping during the day if I need it. All that said, I'm going to bed now because it's almost midnight.

Scientifically proven that less than 7 hours a night regularly for adults results in health issues. Not just "maybe" - definitely. Ranging in severity, of course, some people it's just minor things but can be bigger things like cardiovascular issues, especially as we all get older .

But yeah it has recently been confirmed; there is no "some people get by fine on less". The damage is being done whether you feel it or not.

Obviously this is "over the long term" - some times in life it's unavoidable that you'll get less sleep. Illness, young kids etc. but it's not meant to be permanent.

And I say that without judgement as someone who rarely gets more than 6h sleep a night due to being a carer for a child with disabilities. I am well aware that one day I'll simply wake up and have a stroke or something .

Yes I’ve seen all those stats myself ..

Trouble is there’s not a great deal most of us can do about it I guess

You'd regularly have to be getting **** sleep for those health issues to appear I would imagine.

I hope anyway.

I did also go through a period of acute "proper" insomnia in 2nd year Uni (age 21). I was getting maybe 2 hours of disrupted sleep a night ... was exhausted - just could not sleep. I can appreciate that insomnia is absolutely awful. I've had a couple of other minor bouts that lasted a couple of weeks, but nothing like that... it was genuinely about 2h sleep a night for well over 2 months .

I would hate insomnia it sounds awful. I love sleeping more than most things 9 hours is my optimal. Anything less than 7 and I can't function properly during the day at all

I’m the same…years of shift work had me getting up at silly hours and I love my sleep. I now hate an alarm going off forcing me out of bed…9 hours sleep every night is perfect for me…any less I feel cheated
