I've always loved Hollyoaks, even more than EastEnders in the last 5 years.

Their storylines have always been fresh and original.

Emmerdale went off the boil last year and it's not great at the moment.

Tbf when HO commits to certain hard hitting storyline they deliver like no other soap can.

Hannah's anorexia will never be beaten it was a well thought out storyline touching on such a taboo subject and was acting so fantastically.

Then you have the 3 Male rape storylines they did fantastically with, Stephs cancer, Ste and Brendan's relationship, the trans storyline of the Costello and Silas's reign of terror which were all phenomenal storylines.

They the bus crash, bomb blast, train crash were some of the best shot scenes ever

John Paul's rape, Steph's cancer and the Costello trans story were some of the worst soap stories of all time. And genuinely insensitive too.

I admit Hollyoaks take the most risks in terms of controversial storylines, then on the other hand they're the most far-fetched. Rather than focusing on the hard hitting subject sometimes they focus on the serial killing. 7 or 8+ killers in one village is a bit much
