I want to know where they are getting the testing numbers from. Who is still reporting positive tests?? I know a lot of people who have tested pos on lft but can't remember the last time anyone went for a pcr who I know.

That is an interesting point actually .. especially as schools/colleges/ unis aren’t even testing.

Slight tangent.. one of my colleagues tested positive on 24th Jan ( presumably Omicron as it was rife by then ) anyways she’s tested positive again yesterday ... exactly TWO calendar months apart !!!

At my workplace it's no longer compulsory to wear a mask.

Vast majority are not admitted to a ward, they're treated and sent home, and those people don't get Covid tested.

hospitals would logically be the biggest contributor to the numbers these days, i can't fathom why anyone else would bother reporting results. Care home settings maybe. It has to be from a large institution

If they’re getting 200,000 + positives imagine how many actual tests are being checked ...

Puzzling

Makes zero sense. These figures aren't perfectly what we're looking for but illustrative; there are 45,000 hospital attendances a day across the whole UK. The stats are that 20% of attendances result in an admission and thus a Covid test (they're not testing everyone who goes through A&E; my daughter was there on Sunday).

20% of 45,000 = 9000 hospital admissions a day ... across the whole country. Falls just a touch shy of the 226,000 daily positive cases. And that's if all 100% of those 9000 people are covid positive. Even at a high estimate of one in five having it... that only accounts for 1800 positive tests... or 0.8% of the total daily number.

99%+ of that daily number, is not being reported by hospitals. The numbers just don't add up or even close.

People will still be reporting results to show their employers and things like that. There's no real harm in doing so now there's no requirement to isolate/you won't be traced and it's good to have proof of recovery if you're visiting any country which still has quite a lot of restrictions

Everyone is still so in the habit of testing a lot that it will be interesting what happens from next week. All the people I know who've had it recently have tested every day from infection and their household members have been testing every day. Lots of people still testing before big events as well or even just if they've been in contact with a positive case even though the government wants to move away from that sort of mentality

Gav tested positive this morning, he's really sick. I'm still negative but it will be a miracle if I don't have it, we were away in a caravan together for the last few days
