So take it from 1948 then. Do you think Palestinians have put themselves in concentration camps and given up their homes to Dave in Brooklyn who's never even spoken to anyone from Israel before getting a free Palestinian house there? You're not that stupid, Oliver.

No it doesn't excuse it, but it has been a repeated pattern happening the other way for a long, long time. Children are regularly taken off the streets and put in Israeli prisons to be tortured, and yet the world (minus the global south) has been excusing all of this Israeli oppression for decades. You won't even acknowledge that reality.

I know, expecting anyone in the public eye to not be completely blinkered in this particular conflict was always asking for a miracle.

And I agree with you about the protesters, I don't like how the UK (civilians included) are becoming a-okay with stopping legal protests, it's like we're edging closer and closer to becoming China with the growing popularity of such a disturbing opinion.

I've already said on this thread that Israel have done a lot wrong during this conflict (which like you've pointed out has been going on for a long time) but for Owen Jones to compare Ukraine (who didn't really do anything to Russia until Russia started blitzing them) to Palestine who have a Government that supports it's soldiers (or whatever you want to call them) attacking and raping innocent civilians during a borderline ceasefire period, and then when the nation (obviously Israel) decides to retaliate (because let's face it Netanyahu didn't need an excuse) Hamas doesn't even bother to protect their own civilians and let at least the women and children hide down in the tunnels.

I understand that this conflict has been going on for around 7 decades, and Israel have definitely done horrible things to Palestinians over those years, I just personally don't agree with Owen Jones comparing it with the Ukraine who have not instigated really much of that particular conflict with Russia at any point during it's admittedly short history.

Personally I agree with you that Israel definitely have a lot of issues to put it mildly, especially if we're talking currently because Netanyahu is someone that appears to want this conflict with Palestine, and my own conspiracy theory is that I believe he wanted Hamas to attack Israel on October 7th so that he could justify attacking Gaza.

Hence the low security on the day in question that Hamas attacked.
