Yea if someone proper chainsmoked throughout the pregnancy it would be a problem...but a few wont make a difference at all IMO. If she smoked a lot before getting pregnant, and has cut down, its better than stopping outright, as the latter would send her stress levels through the roof, which also harms babies People are way too judgemental when it comes to smoking. My sis had people stopping her in the street when she was pregnant moaning about it. I bet they wouldnt go into mc donalds and moan on at a pregnant person eating a load of junk food...which is just as bad really...
Four cigarettes in two hours is hardly "a couple of ciggies". At that rate she is on around 20 a day. Hardly moderation is it? If she doesn't care enough about the potential risks to her unborn child or herself, for that matter, then she's hardly a great advert for a caring mother either. And I speak as someone who gave up a 30 a day habit so I know exactly how hard it is to give up. Having my kids gave me the impetus and motivation to kick the habit for good - I certainly never wanted them to see me with a fag in my hand all the time, nor subject them to second hand smoking.

I will be as "judgmental" as I wish on a public forum - or are we not supposed to offer our opinions on stories in the news? It's a far cry from accosting individuals in the street to harrass them - that's just plain rude, unless of course they are infringing my personal space by forcing me to breath in their exhaled smoke. Then I will have my say. Sadly unborn babies and children don't have the option to protest do they?

Thing is though, so many things people do are bad for babies. Eating rubbish food, being stressed, even exercise sometimes. But you dont see people going hysterical... as if the pregnant woman just punched herself in the stomach when she eats a pizza or whatever, yet you do with smoking...

Another with a victim complex it seems. I merely offered my own opinion. I suppose I should refrain from doing so in future incase someone takes it as me saying they arent allowed to offer opinions. Will leave this now before my words get twisted again

..I was wondering if I had missed it...smokers are usually shown as smokers and it made me wonder if they had edited out her smoking...probably not, smokers have been popular with the public before,,it wouldn't make a difference...reading too much into it LOL

Not showing her smoking was part of the fix to have her win instead of Dom Joly I think

tbf Angus Vicky has just as much right to put down her concerns and not be greated with a torrent of abuse as you do to state your opinions and give her that torrent of abuse imo

that's all true but smoking is also bad, two wrongs (or five or six) don't make a right imo

To be fair fruit_cake I have re-read my post and fail to see where I have given Vicky a "torrent of abuse". Now who's playing the victim?

I don't know who's playing the victim, but a little bit more empathy and less judging might help a bit imo

Yeah but people can quit smoking, they just have to want to quit. If they don't truly want to quit then it's impossible.

Not being funny, but ultimately it's her choice what she does. It's not right that the public plaster down a image. If she wanted to smoke, let her.

Is this thread about Stacey Soloman smoking or an anti smoking thread...if it's about Stacey, who are we to judge, if her baby isn't fine and it's because she has smoked, she will have to live with it...ideally, she should give up but everyone's different and she doesn't suddenly become a different person because of it.....if it's an anti smoking thread, the title is misleading for anyone who may/may not want to join

in fairness, it's not her that will have to live with it, it's the child who will have to live with it.

Yet Kerry Katona snorts the white stuff AND WINS the bloody thing. Hypocrisy gone mad.

The credibility of these so called awards is out the window when they nominate Victoria never-done-a-hard-days-work Beckham.

I do not agree with pregnant women smoking, although some still do it knowing the risks but it is obviously hard for them to stop.

She is doing media interviews tomorrow and is represented by Max Clifford, so the silly girl is going to create more publicity and make things worse for herself.

Just seen her interview on this morning and feel bad for her. Why do people act like they care about the health of her baby from smoking yet feel it's okay to put massive stress on her by putting her face on the front of newspapers and slagging her off saying she's a bad mum. Surely that's just as bad as having a couple of cigs a day.

Some doctors recommend that pregnant women who smoke cut way down rather than quit completely as the the stress of trying to quit can be more harmful then a couple of cigarettes a day.
