Default Paypal/ebay help

Right, I have no clue about ebay and stuff but I do know my account is linked with my paypal because I have bought 4 things in the past month and there have been no problems.

I bought a batman utility belt on monday to go with gavins fancy dress costume for saturday. It came today, and I assumed everything was fine since I have the item, but I just checked my online bank and it appears that they refused a direct debit to paypal. I didnt even know they did it by direct debit, I thought the money came out when you actually bought the item..Im sure it as with the other things I bought

So..do I owe money to the seller, or to paypal itself? And how do I sort this?

Peed off, might end up with negative feedback already through this.

Well, my paypal account is linked to my credit card so it comes straight out. Did you set the Paypal account up?

You will owe the money to paypal...you can't get negative feedback as a buyer so don't worry about that.

PayPal will try and take it again I think...they take it as a direct debit payment if you don't have enough to cover the payment in your paypal account.

I think they try in about 3days...they will send you an email probably. I wouldn't worry about it, it's their fault. They shouldn't have told the seller to send the item if the funds weren't cleared.

Do you think it would be worth just topping up my paypal account tonight with the money I owe them? So they can take it direct from there with no fuss?

My account doesnt show negative or anything. Infact it says its completed :S

That's what I would do. If it says completed the seller has the money...the worst thing is you'll get charged by your bank.

Yes thats whats pissing me off. Bank charges

I didnt even know that they did it via DD. Everything else I have bought I am sure has came out immediately. The most annoying thing is that I had about 20p less than the amount they wanted in my bank when they tried to take it

Yeah the buyer will have the payment or they wouldn't have sent the order so it will be paypal that you owe the money to.

Check you have the email saying your payment was received for the item though?

Also when linking your card up to paypal they take I think 2 or 3 small amounts of money from your account at the beginning then you use those amounts as a pin to confirm the card on your paypal account, did you do that?

Yeah definitely paypal you owe the money to then, was there enough in your paypal to pay for that item? it's weird they tried to take the money from your bank if there was.

Oh right I get you now, so instead of taking it straight away then they done it later and now you have ended up with a charge?

I would phone the bank and explain to them if you have never phoned about a charge before then they might be nice and reverse the charge

They done it for me once but told me it would be the only time they could do it so it's worth a try.

Would you be interested in purchasing some Lord of the Rings or Godzilla toys?

How strange? I have my direct debit card linked to my ebay account, and I very rarely have a balance on paypal. It normally just takes it from my bank account to pay for it. If the bank refused it, then I wonder why paypal sent your payment through? I suppose it's best to ring your bank and find out why they refused it.
