I'd imaging most people who work in show business have had a cheeky line or a toke on a spliff at some point.

What part of "Nigella Lawson is NOT on trial" is it so bloody difficult to understand?

No but I kinda take the view that if you're going to prosecute two of your most personal attendants for serious fraud then you shouldn't be too surprised when they start airing your dirty laundry in their defence

Just as she is not on trial they are also innocent until proven guilty. She says they've essentially stolen hundreds of thousands of pounds from her, they say she allowed them to spend that to cover up her cocaine addiction. Which of them is telling the truth is not for me to say, it's up to the jury, but they are perfectly entitled to use that in their defence IMO

You're right. They are perfectly entitled to use that in their defence and if I was their lawyer I'd have advised them to do the same. So long as it's true. But the question is, can Nigella's career survive the drugs affair. My view is, yes, of course... because she is not on trial for taking drugs. And if the BBC - or anyone else - is going to get rid of her because of evidence she gave admitting retrospectively to taking cocaine, then they will probably have a lawsuit on their hands.

some posters here seem to deliberately ignore the FACT , Lawson admitted to cocaine abuse in the court....there were other allegations too from her husband. she is a cocaine user, employed by the bbc , via tax payers money and generally her shows are family shows.... the question too is to what extent the kids were involved in the drugs? even the under age smoking allegations are bad? lets hope Lawson is grilled under oath on all allegations to see what else she confesses to...her whole sexy cooking on mainstream tv has come across as tacky for a while too...but this cocaine abuse takes it to a lower level....Russell brand and many others have been sacked for much less....heck many big shots have been sacked for being accused of something yet even when found 100% innocent have still lost their jobs. they were all men though so who cares

Who has been sacked after being found 100% not guilty (you can't be found innocent)?

Richard Bacon. He's a man. He admitted to taking cocaine. He's still on telly and doing okay.

Yeah I do agree with that, and for the record I'm not too bothered either way about whether she has or not and don't really think she should be dropped the BBC tbh, as you say they would face a lawsuit if they dropped her solely over these allegations

Theyre not allegations, they are fact, she admitted it in court

brand lost his job at the bbc over a gag that went awry...ross was suspended too
andy gray lost his job for one harmless joke about a female lineswoman?
hardly compares to confessing to cocaine abuse in court amongst other lurid allegations

I think it probably will.

She is very popular and very good at her job.
Unless she starts snorting off the worktops I will carry on watching her.

Would they not just fire her for misconduct if they wanted to? That said, I'm sure another channel would snap her up because of the renewed media interest in her as a personality which has been lagging in recent years so I think in many ways all of this has really just done her career a favour.

She's going to be fine, She's on this cooking competition in the US that's like the voice meets taste testing. No one watched the first season but it got a second round. This scandal might get viewers for the show tbh.

I think there's supposed to a brit version with her on it. Not sure.

Yes.

A celebrity taking drugs has never stopped me supporting them before and it's not going to in future.

Bet you'd throw the towel in with Len Goodman if it turned out he was addicted to speed

I guess, although I was completely fine when Martine McCutcheon told me she was on LSD when filming the Activia adverts.

Bet his dealer is Bruno, I swear sometimes Bruno either is on drugs or forgets that he's supposed to be on drugs.

It was one of the accused who are on trial for allegedly stealing from her and her husband who said she had done that, it is neither likely truth or proven fact.

I hope Nigella goes from strength to strength in her career and I feel it is shocking that she is the one being plastered all over the front pages and 'not' the 2 miserable people who are the ones actually on trial and the ones 'charged' with offences.

They should have never have taken the the workers to Court

It really depends on how the trial ends I guess and who gets vindicated, though I can't imagine the BBC sacking her, her career in the states might take a nose dive though off the back of it. As to whose money it was Nigella is rich in her own right she wasn't living off her domestic abuser husband.

nigella always gave me the impression she was enjoying her cooking and preparation a little too much!
any moment I was thinking she was going to rub that golden syrup over her ample cleavage, well that's what was happening in my head.

she will be fine, even if she is dropped by the bbc.

Saachi did say he would ruin her if she divorced him?....
Wouldn't surprise me if he hadn't put the sisters up to making the accusations.
Takes the heat of his throat grabbing antics suggesting she sprinkles cocaine on the kids cornflakes doesn't it?
