Can you just contribute to the matter at band rather than having a go at everything and anything members post, it's SO irritating trying to have a proper discussion with you quoting every other post just making snipey comments

Well the first person would get points for breaking the filter and the second for breaking the filter and insulting someone, is that not how it'd work?

But yeah maybe a change could work. I personally try and stick to what other mods have posted points wise.

But your views are on my opinions not the thread at hand which is derailing and it'll only end in an argument

My point was more, some rulebreaks while technically the same thing, are worse than others :S Some insults are worse, especially personal ones. etc

I get the point you're making but I think that in cases like that, other infractionable offences are made so extra points are added, so one could be "insult" and another would be "offensive language" both worth one point whereas the other person would just get one point for the insult

If you get it, I didn't explain it very well

Yeah I get it

I do think a change to the system is long overdue tbh

But no matter what we do, lets be honest, there will still be a select few (usually those who are banned most often) who feel its all so unfair

It's probably for the best that all infractions are anonymous given the propensity people have for taking things outside the forum.

Yeah, people will complain regardless of the situation, but I think with some of the stuff that's been mentioned, it'll be a lot clearer, a lot fairer and a lot harder to contest

Does anybody read the messages that are sent to it? I have never gotten a reply.

I know most of the time I deserve my infractions but I have definitely been wrongly infracted/banned a few times and it's very annoying to be infracted for something that is completely taken out of context. I just get ignored when I explain myself and most of the time I don't even try.

What happened to innocent until proven guilty? You can't just automatically know the context every time, if you don't know whether something is a joke or not then it usual IS a joke and you are not going to be burned at the steak by the other mods if you admit you are wrong once in a while.

Anyway, all I am saying is hear people out.
You answered your own question about the TiBB Staff account, members have no need to know who infracted them, they do use it against mods, infact there is times when someone receives an infraction and starts accusing a mod of having a vendetta against them when a lot of the times it isn't even the mod they accuse that's infracted them

As to the 'joke' comments, it doesn't matter how much you claim something you have posted was a joke or for a laugh and so on, if the person the comment is directed at finds it offensive then it's not a joke at all.

James, myself and Vicky receive the messages that are sent to TiBB Staff and as has already been posted if it's a genuine query we do post it in the mod section and discuss it or sometimes I pm the person in reply to explain the infraction etc, some can confirm this I'm sure..

Lastly, we do we admit when we are wrong, we reverse infractions and sometimes even bans more than you would think. Every single infraction and even warning that's given out generates it's own discussion thread in a reports section, if we see an infraction that we find to be a bit harsh then we say it and discuss what we think would have been more fitting, or sometimes we reverse the infractions again I'm sure some members that has had infractions reversed can confirm this. You also have to remember that we don't just go into a thread, or see a report and immediately go and hand out an infraction for what was reported, we have to read back and see how things started, check if the reported comment was in reply to a baiting comment and so on.

Omg this, I remember one time I posted a pic of a black lady and the reason for the infraction was "Don't push it"

EDIT: Oop it expires tomorrow, then I'll be infraction-free. Bad guy gone good era?

Surely it was self explanatory?

(proof above that every infraction has its own thread actually, as I couldn't have remembered that )

Also most of them that say that are self explanatory. Just I used yours as an example

Like, why put 'baiting' or something when you are obviously going to know what you did wrong anyway?

A) This is not a gif
B) It wasn't nasty, rude or spamming just by posting that picture. If anything it was in a jokey way (another good example of blurred lines between jokes and people taking offense)
C) "Don't push it" really isn't professional (which is the point Smithy was raising)

Idrc about infractions or how they're dealt with anymore, since my last one expires tomorrow I just came in here to agree with a post I agreed with.

I don't want to cause trouble so I'll leave the thread.

I just think it reflects better on the moderating team than a "no" which just isn't that professional

I think the fact that there's no clear infraction system makes the whole thing a bit redundant, someone could get 1 point for baiting and someone else 2 points (because they were given by different mods) and the second person knocked into a ban because of it, I think we should be able to see the amount of points given and there should be a full list of infractionable offences and the # of points given when they're commited

It's really annoying when mods say "if xxx carries on I'm giving out straight bans" in no way is that ever fair and I've never seen it done on any other forums, I wouldn't have a problem with TiBB staff if there was a system like I mentioned before, because then you know even if a mod dislikes you, you're only getting the set amount of points rather than them upping it (even slightly) because they dislike you

I know what I'm trying to say but it's not coming out properly

I agree that the infraction system can be messy but to be honest there is never going to be a 'set' system that can work, especially on here, there still is set points but I personally tend to go by what infractions a member has had in the past, if you for example had 10 infractions for insulting others then I would be more inclined to give you higher points for an insult than I would for someone that had 1 infraction in the past for insults...

Theres so many members with different points and infraction reasons that to treat every single rule break for each member the same way would be extremely unfair.

If 2 people are infracted at the same time and one is pushed into a ban then all I can say is that it's entirely their own fault, they must have broken more rules in the past to have high enough points to be pushed into a ban.

The straight ban thing, it can be extremely frustrating if arguing continues when we have already given out infractions to some of the members involved and maybe already posted a warning in the thread, arguing doesn't just affect the members involved it is also unfair on members that just want to reply to the thread topic to have to keep scrolling through drama, so a straight ban is the next thing.

So basically we get treated for our past criminal record?

What happened to rehabilitation?
