Yes they would survive.
Im not sure you still really grasp how cash hungry Seaworld are to keep the Orca program alive
Only 14 weeks ago they proposed to double the size of the tanks and asked for planning permission (great news you might think) it was suspected though that they were planning to use the increase in space to increase the number of Orcas they hold in captivity so they were granted permission to build the larger tanks on condition they didnt increase the number of Orca whales (they currently have 11) and stopped the transfer of whales to and from the park.
Seaworld stated they plan to sue the coastal commission for trying to impose those conditions.

They have 23 Orcas at present someof them are captive bred and some of them were kidnapped from the wild at a young age.

Even the word "tanks" in relation to where Orcas have to live, sounds horrific to me tbh

There isn't an orca program though. That's what they are stopping.

..I don't fully understand this because they seem to replacing one kind of killer whale show with another, so still keeping the whales in captivity..only possibly having them more in direct contact with the public while they're so unpredictable because of the cruel conditions they're kept in..?...

In addition to ending its breeding program, SeaWorld is phasing out its signature killer whale theatrical stunt shows and will replace them with "new, inspiring, natural orca encounters" that will focus on "orca enrichment, exercise, and overall health," the group said in a statement. The change will be implemented in its San Diego theme park in 2017 and in its parks in San Antonio and Orlando throughout the next two years. SeaWorld had announced its San Diego plans last year.
