I've always called it a Living Room, even though Sitting Room or Front Room are probably the more correct terms.

My dad has front room and back room - we used to call them the living room and dining room but when my mum was alive and bored - she used to love switching them round so it got too confusing

In the house I grew up in we had two rooms like that we called them The Sitting Room and The Dining Room
