Brilliant episode, bit gutted about the ending but i'd be more upset over a lot of other characters dying

I've just cried like an absolute state. Probably my favourite sequence of the show ever.

Gutted about the tree bitches and wish we'd seen more of them, gutted about Summer, gutted about the Three Eyed Raven and mostly about Hodor of course.

Nyeh... That "Hodor" = "hold dah door" thing fell flat for me. It's just... sort of lame? Otherwise a pretty decent episode: although also, Arya's storyline seems to have majorly stalled and is getting stale, it needs to go somewhere fast, it's basically been a repeat of the same couple of scenes for a season and a half. "A girl is no one" and getting whacked in the face by that ginger kid.

I loved the Hodor bit and the explanation for it :'(

As for Arya, i was thinking because of seeing that play is she really going to stick to being No one hhhmmm I need proper Arya back, I hope she doesn't kill that woman

I think the suggestion (especially with her reaction to the play) is that despite everything, she is still very much Arya Stark, and is still only playing along with the faceless in order to gain their training and abilities. As soon as she's full Jedi she'll head back across the sea.

I just feel like it's been drawn out a bit too much. I get that it's more realistic for her to have been there for a couple of years training rather than her be there a few months and instant-ninja... But I sort of feel like, if she doesn't leave them this season or there isn't a development, it's wasted air time? Like they could just have had her AWOL for the season like Bran was last season, and return to her at the beginning of next season, trained and ready to move on. Like start the season with her totally zen and "a girl is no one", but then hearing some news in passing (about Sansa / John and Winterfell, maybe?) and saying "Actually a girl is Arya Stark bye bye lol"...

Anyway, yeah, the Hodor thing... I've read that this was George Rrrrrr Martin's idea about his name all along but to me it feels like reverse planning? Like "Hey Hodor sounds like Hold Door... How can I write this in?". It didn't feel organic.

I suppose they need to show her actually building her Ninja/bad assness though so we know what went on, eventhough it has been a bit boring.

And apparently they're killing off the direwolves bc theyre almost as expensive as the dragons to do CGI wise

also re the Dire Wolves, that would be a terrible reason to start killing the Wolves off, surely they can't kill them off in the show unless GRRM does the same in the books?

Although surely the fact that Hodor is Hodor meant that all that had to happen so Bran messing up his training and luring the white walkers there is basically inevitable
