He was only charged for the attempted rape of Roxy; there wasn't enough evidence supporting Linda's case to take to court.

I honestly doubt it, as that would mean Dean got away with raping Linda (who reported it too late) as well as attempting to rape Roxy (who reported it as soon as possible) which doesn't really give out a very good message.

What a strange episode. Good acting though, but I knew Dean would get off with it! I think he's gonna come back and get killed but not before he drags a Mitchell sister down with him

Why do they always have to get off and the people who actually don't do the crime always get sent down, can't we have one good result

Tbf, don't soap rapists always end up convicted?

I kind of like how true to life aspects of this story have been. And we the viewers know he's guilty of both crimes against Linda and Roxy to it kind of makes you think more about the crappy conviction rates in real life and how it must feel for those people who aren't believed despite telling the truth.

It's the grounded stuff like this the show has been missing alongside the daft stuff like the Gavin/Sharon crap.

Roxy's "They didn't believe me" line sums the situation up. I thought it was a great episode.

I still have no idea why they thought it would be better not to show the trial?

Still - I think that was probably the most realistic conclusion to the story sadly. We only ever hear about rapists being sent down - that is how they get to become known as rapists. How many are out there who get away with it?

I'm surprised but glad they went down the Dean getting away with it route. However considering the point of Linda's storyline was to urge victims to report the crime as soon as possible, having Dean get away with raping Roxy despite her reporting the crime the following day just seems weird.

Tbh, I think in this episode, not seeing the trial really worked. Just focussing on those affected waiting to hear back.

I thought the voice overs were well done.

The only thing I hated was them having Roxy not answer the phone that final time and the daft "Buster paid him to go abroad" nonsense. They always go that one step too far.

Tbf, they stuck the blurred line in that by having it as attempted rape.

Begs the question though what kind of jury find a man innocent when his own mum walked in on the act and testified against him.

Is it to fast to presume that Ronnie and Roxy's exits are going to be linked to Dean?

This is why showing the trial would have made more sense. I imagine the prosecution made Shirley out to be a mother who hates her son considering she tried to drown him but we don't know exactly what was said.

Yeah, they don't leave until New Year. I doubt he's going to be the "huge story".

We wouldn't know because we didn't see the "tearing into" that Roxy and Shirley received. That's why I find it hard to comment on whether or not I agree with the judgement, because there's a lot that they didn't show us.

I can only assume that Shirley and Dean's bumpy relationship in the past would have been brought up.
