A boy as young as five has been caught on camera attepting to kick and punch a cat before throwing it at a bush.
The footage shows the child - wearing a ‘here comes trouble’ t-shirt - appearing to repeatedly swipe at six-year-old Sky outside owner Neil Fisher’s home before violently throwing it into a hedge, but brave Sky bounced back and scratched the boy's neck and arm as she attempted to defend herself after suffering eight minutes of abuse. Today, the boy's Grandmother accused Mr Fisher of trying to "shame" the five-year old, who has been "grounded", was sent to his room and had his DVD's taken away. She said, "He was punished for his act, it's not like he got away with it, What's done is done. Should we carry on punishing him?" Fortunately Sky suffered no serious injuries, The 35-year-old owner, who runs his own security firm, said: “It makes me so angry that anyone, even a child, thinks it’s OK to treat an animal like this. It doesn’t say a great deal for their upbringing. It came to my attention because I could hear the cat wailing and crying and I thought there’s no reason for her to be doing that, I was getting ready to go out and then I came round the corner and this little boy was running away". “I checked the CCTV straight away and was disgusted. It was heartbreaking to see an animal you love being treated with absolutely no respect. I went round to the kid’s parents house and his mum just slammed the door in my face. I was really disturbed watching it back. He can’t have been older than five or six.” He said the CCTV, which is attached to his house, showed the boy abusing the cat for a total of eight minutes on Sunday afternoon. The owner said , “If you watch it, after a while she’s clearly had enough, and you can’t blame her. “Sky hasn’t got any lasting damage, not that I can see through all her fur anyway. You can’t ask a cat how it is and they can’t exactly come in and tell you what’s happened.” Neil claims Greater Manchester Police are unable to take action against the schoolboy because he is believed to be under the age of criminal responsibility, but it has been noted with the RSPCA Video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEgZw0pvS4M Last edited by Nancy.; 23-09-2016 at 09:50 PM. |

The grandmother is an idiot. Yes he's young but this is a quick way to teach him a harsh lesson not to hurt others or animals - grounding him and taking away a few DVD's is unlikely to work, perhaps if the childs parents paid more attention to him rather than leave him to torment a poor animal there would be no shaming to be done.
Glad to hear the poor cat is okay

..I do actually agree with his grandmother about the 'shaming', I don't see any value in that but his purposeful hurting of the cat is quite worrying/for it seeming to be a 'fun thing' for him (possibly)...what is wrong I think is that 'early intervention' is so important with children that display any concerning behaviour like this because it's not about punishment, it's about possible help if and where/when it's needed...but sadly there just isn't that help there, I mean it's virtually non existent except for a tiny few...and that to me is what is really 'criminal'...

I didn't watch the video but why was a 4 year old wandering around unsupervised? This sort of behaviour is pretty worrying

That's actually a pretty shocking video and although he is young that cat could have badly hurt, specially when he threw her on the pavement. Poor kitty the whole family should be ashamed, he should have filmed the mother and grandmother as well, put up the box set online. I think in this kind of case it's good to have documentation of the behaviour. It's not normal and is disturbing. Who is he going to be beating on and hurting when he is 15?
